I really like this modem, it works great and is small. The only negative thing would be the lights in the front. They are bight, and I have this modem in my bedroom, and at night, it lights up the entire room, so I had to cover the lights with some paper

This is a great alternative to renting Comcast modem. If you already have a wireless router then this modem will take the place of renting the modem/wireless router from Comcast. It will pay for itself after 4 months. You don't have to pay the extra $20 a month to rent theirs for 2 years.

The modem was a replacement one and it worked perfectly out of the box.

I replaced a basic DPC3008 Cisco Modem (DOCSIS 3.0) that Charter gave me, with this highly praised Motorola SB6141. I was not having issues, but figured it was time to upgrade. I was excited at first... the speedtest.net reading looked much better and showed around 65 mbps download and 4.5 mbps upload.... compared to about 50 mbps download and the same 4.5 upload from the old Cisco. That being said, the Carbonite backup activity basically shut down all other activity.... including my sons PS4 games. It seems to dedicate resources to whatever download is most needy... leaving the others starved for resources (intolerable). My situation is unique given the lengthy Carbonite download, but I reinstalled the basic Cisco router and now everything runs without lag again. The bottom line is that an upgrade in modem is only beneficial if your provider has the resources to utilize the features... otherwise, there may be no improvement or inferior function. The best upgrade I made was the actual wireless router.... in my case the nighthawk router AC1900 was a tremendous improvement (even better than the newer AC3200).

Thank you best buy for selling quality products. I cannot believe I have been renting a modem from my cable provider all these years. The gentleman that helped me was very, very knowledgeable. He made the purchase exciting. Such a gentlemen. I wish he could assist me every time I come to Best Buy.
