This modem replaces the modem I rented from Comcast and is much more reliable, supporting faster speeds. I use it in connection to my Apple Airport Extreme and it provides excellent Internet service. Product recommended to me by Sonny Gilbert. (Thanks, Sonny!)

I had a SURFboard modem for about 10 years before this purchase and that cable modem ran the entire time without ever given me a problem. That is why I gave the SURFboard by Motorola the first look when I wanted to update to DOCSIS 3.0 in order to take advantage of the higher speeds my cable provider offered. After researching online reviews, it validated my initial inclination and I went with the SURFboard SB6141. After 2 days of installing it, things didn't go so well. The modem would reboot every 5 minutes or so which would interrupt whatever I was doing online. I work from home so this became a big problem. The cable company initially thought it was the signal coming in but in the end it ended up being the modem that had failed. Technically I should probably have given this item a much lower rating but I'm given Motorola the benefit of the doubt that I just received a lemon. I took it back and the sales rep at Best Buy recommended the Netgear CM400 which was actually around $15 cheaper and is apples to apples in terms of speed and bandwidth. The Netgear has been working flawlessly ever since I hooked it up. Honestly unless your a diehard Motorola fan, I would consider looking into the Netgear CM400 for you next cable modem.

The brand we normally would chose was out of stock, so we looked at reviews on our phone while in the store to pick the Arris over the other products. It was easy set up out of the box and has worked great for the time we've had it (less than 2 months). I hesitate to give 5 stars to anything until the 6-month mark at a minimum, but so far so good!

Owning your own cable modem is a no-brainer. Why pay a modem rental fee to your cable provider when you can own your own in less than a year? Skip the $7 or more rental for used, sub-par equipment and buy your own. Surfboard modems are reliable, fast, and best bang for your buck.

This Surfboard cable modem eliminated my need to rent from TWC and works well and as advertised. Setup was easy - just plug and play for the most part. The only issue I had was with the electronic documentation. Not "all" of the options for the way the lights behave and their colors is accurate, but that doesn't affect the performance. I will break even in 10 months.

This is a good modem. The speeds aren't THE absolute fastest, but most ISPs don't offer anything this little guy can't handle. Its great!

I purchased this modem with wireless wifi because we wanted to give up our cable's modem since the price increase. This modem was easy to hook up and the cable company talked us through the connection process which was easy. I use my laptop in an upstairs bedroom and it works well, sometimes the signal is weak, but if I change the position in the room I get a stronger signal. I am very happy with this modem.

No bells and whistles, just downright fast as needed with room to spare for the future.
