Customers are saying

Customers admire the SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 High-Speed Cable Modem for its ease of use, performance, and affordability. Many appreciate the straightforward setup and compatibility with their internet providers, along with its compact size. While some experienced issues with the modem's WiFi capabilities and occasional overheating, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most users.

This is a great product for home use. It saved the recurring rental charges from my cable company. Thanks best buy.

    Exciting disappointment

Only worked for 5 hours and then the power cut out. This is pretty close to a DOA; not a product you can be worried about working. Probably will go with a different model on return.

Modem died in less than two months

I purchased this cable modem to replace a DOCSIS 1 that I had been using for some time. Setup was easy and it worked great until two days ago, when it began disconnecting and reconnecting. Download speed had fallen to 3. I've gone back to renting my modem from Comcast.

Do not buy.... Worked fine at first, of course I threw the box away, then it intermittently works, and I can't return it now. Only works some times and when it does is slow, had a zoom modem prior to this that worked fine till it too quit on me. Oh well, save your money...

    Problem with compatibility

Item works great for my friends and they have had no problem. Unfortuntly Midcontinent Communications does not support this modem. Technician told me it could be up to a year before compatibility is approved. For reference please refer to your cable company for compatible modems before purchasing.

    Not what I expected

I was told by Comcast, by internet info etc. that this modem would work for me. When I got it home I found that it was not set up to do phone and internet even though I was led to believe it was. I returned it the same day and had to pay an additional $50 to get the modem that wuld work.

    Was not supported by Charter

I replaced an old DOCSIS 2.0 Motorola and got slower speeds/performance. Charter did not have this on their "approved" list nor was it on the "not approved" list. I returned this and got a Cisco DPC3010 which was approved by Charter. Bummer.

    poor wifi range

This modem hooked up easily, and seems to stayed hooked up to the internet just fine. The range on the wireless router is somewhat limited. If you plan to use it any distance away from the router itself, you will need a signal repeater.

Worked fine for 10 weeks, then died. ARRIS refused to honor their warranty because I didn't buy the modem at one of their "authorized resellers."

Purchased this item to replace my old Modem/Router (also from Motorola). Signal consistently Zeros out, and the reception is spotty at best.

Trial & Error - You're taking a risk with this one

Overall, I still get better speeds with the Motorola Surfboard 5101 (DOCSIS 2.0). I have internet service with Comcast. I wanted to upgrade my speed tier and I purchased the Motorola Surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Set up was a HUGE headache! I went through 3 of these modems and they all came back with the same result. No connection or no impressive speeds. The Motorola Surfboard 5101 (DOCSIS 2.0) outperformed this modem after being in service for at least 5 years. The Comcast Tech checked signals coming into the home and everything was fine. The modems were provisioned for the correct speeds. The true test came when the tech put their ARRIS modem on the line and it performed flawlessly. I suspect there's something wrong with these modems. Some people have had success with them. However, there are people like me that are finding out otherwise. So you've been warned. Hook up this modem at your own risk. Good luck.
