    I prefer to own my cable modem versus renting it from my provider; I just started a new job and work from home exclusively and noticed some slowdowns. A little research showed that my modem was no longer supported and 5 years old. My old modem was also an Arris and I was excited about the new technology that is coming; plus I prefer to have my wi-fi router separate so this fit my needs and my home performance is much better now.

    It's a cable modem. How different can they be? Buy one fast enough to exceed the download speeds you are paying for from your internet provider. Plus if you need it to handle phone be sure it has those capabilities. That's it. This one is overpriced but works well.

    Simply the Best! A Best Buy! Not many units have a telephone wire jack anymore for phone service. That makes this unit special, along with being top notch quality with the latest technology for good, reliable and fast internet service.
