Astro A40 PS5/PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound and spatial surround sound with dolby atmos. I had bought the $15 software for my pc and thought it might not do as much....boy was i wrong, directional sound had never been clearer.

Good headset, p
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(Using headset on PC) Great headset. Very comfortable. Quality is amazing, sound is good. My only issue is how on full volume it honestly isn’t as loud as I thought it would be. Also the Astro command center application is TERRIBLE. Otherwise, it’s amazing headset, and definitely worth the full price point.

Good Headset in 2023, Last Gen Focused
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL:DR A good headset for PC, bypass for current generation consoles. Not bad for music. I purchased these headphones in Sept of 2019 and found them to be a solid option for gaming on the PS4 Pro at the time. The sound quality is definitely in that 70/30 range, where it covers the middle 70% of the sound range. The treble is a touch lacking, and the bass can go comfortably low, but probably a 15% loss in range on each. Definitely a solid gaming headset though as it had good mic clarity and clear audio. The MixAmp is nice to have for on-the-fly adjustments, no doubt about that, but is still kind of bland in terms of actual controls. The first thing I did was update the firmware and it made a world of difference in sound quality. Having the preset buttons was nice to cycle through depending on whether I was gaming online or solo. Comfort wise, the headset rests well on my head but does get a little warm after an hour or so, but hey not many headsets are able to vent well so in my experience it is pretty average. The not so great; when I upgraded to PS5, the adapter they made really was inadequate. To bypass the optical connection the PS5 no longer had, their adapter was splitting audio off the HDMI. The kicker was that the adapter interrupted the video signal and then forced it to go through a lower HDMI 2.0 vs 2.1. This matters as I have an OLED CX that is able to do 4k at 120hz, which the PS5 is also capable of, yet the adapter reduces the output to 4k at 60hz max. When I reached out to customer support on this, they basically told me "not everyone has a TV with HDMI 2.1 so get over it." Well, now in 2023, most TVs come standard with at least one 2.1 port, so poor choice on their side, and the sass was less than appreciated. That being said, I do have this headset connected to my gaming PC and in 2023, it is still a great option if you are using it for that medium. Side note, I listen to music on this headset on the PC as well, and it isn't a bad option to jam out to since you can access the EQ in their app. The software is kind of bland as well, but it gets the job done. No, it is nowhere near my Focal Clear's, but not bad for an inexpensive alternative.

Most comfortable headset on the market!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is extremely comfortable and is one of the best quality sounding gaming headsets that money can buy. The mix amp works flawlessly and the Astro gaming software that you download on your PC allows you to customize your sound frequencies and provides you with your optimized gaming experience. Unfortunately, the mix amp itself does not have a power button on it compared to the previous generation. I personally enjoyed the power button on the mix amp when I am using my PS4 and I would like to instantly change sound output to my television, monitor, or soundbar. However, the comfortability and the sound quality of the headset is incredible and it makes up for the missing power options. Gaming audio, music, and videos are crisp in the ears, bass frequencies really balanced out of the box, and the cable length of the headset is at a great length.

Great for Beginner & Intermediate Gamers on PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay, so I'm 45 day in - using this Headset. I use it mostly for gaming, but also for watching videos occasionally ! Love the Mix-Amp, which allows for separate adjustment of the Microphone and Headset volumes. The Mix-Amp LEDs are not only very helpful with volume control, but they look pretty cool, too. The microphone is fully adjustable and swings completely out of the way. The Headset is independently adjustable, from both sides, and its cushioned ear-muffs make it very comfortable. Great product from Astro Gaming !!!

Astro Gaming A40
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from a Turtle Beach Recon 50. Major improvement in terms of audio, configuration, and mic performance. However, I do think the A40 w/ mix amp is a little overpriced. The headphones do have some weight to them and long use can become uncomfortable on the ears. However, the mix amp is awesome for quick audio and mic control. Don't know, if I would purchase again, but buying the mix amp separate I would recommend.

They're fantastic, but pricey.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can't beat the sound quality and comfort of these. I mainly got them because of the fact that Astros are the only headphones that I can wear for hours without any fatigue. The second selling point for me was the mixamp. I like being able to easily control chat vs game volume. I thought I'd use the surround more than I have. It seems like most modern games simulate a surround-ish sound stage with the stereo setting. Turning on surround adds a ton of reverb and makes music sound a bit off, so I only turn it on when I'm trying to do something semi-competitive. Cons: The quality of the finish on the plastic parts is far below what it used to be. I own a much older pair of astro a40's (a discontinued set which came with a "wireless" mixamp) and the finish on the old pair has shown minimal wear, while these, not even a year old, have a severely chipped finish. Whatever paint they used on the plastic was not properly bonded meaning they probably did not use a proper primer when applying. These look very ugly now compared to my old set which have absolutely no chipping paint whatsoever.

FPS with the best
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love it, can pinpoint in FPS like no other plus the mixamp is just icing on the cake for on the fly adjustment. I did have some problems setting it up (fortnite) since the instructions don't apply to every game but I eventually got it right for my PC by using the optical cable even though it says it's not necessary. The only reason I deducted a star is one, the headset feels cheap/flimsy the mixamp though feels like a tank. Also it's a "Tournament Ready" set and requires more money to complete technically complete and for some reason they made the mod mic heavier so it droops. I got it 50 off and still feel that's a lot but I like it.

Switch Between PC & PS5 Cumbersome, Else Great.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to admit I’m a little biased toward these headphones because I have been using the Astro line for years with few issues. I am bitter about having to buy these headphones, however, because the previous Astro A40TRs don’t work with PS5, not if you want the ability to mute yourself, anyway. Yes, even with the adapter, which you also need for these headphones. The headphones themselves work fantastic as always, but I genuinely feel like an old-time switchboard operator trying to alternate these headphones between PC and PS5. There’s got to be a better way to get peripherals to work for a newer console without an excessive amount of cordage.

You Get What You Pay For
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Astro headsets are the go-to brand in our house (A40 & A50). They sound great and are more durable than ones that cost slightly less and with their lower costs than in the past and sales more offen than not you really can’t go wrong.

Good, loud sound
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice headset, comfortable, sound quality is good ( still trying to learn mix-amp to be honest ) it is plenty loud. If you don't mind cable connect to main unit ( mix-amp ) and 2 cables from ps4 to mix-amp it's great. If you don't like cables it won't work as well for you ( it's nice to be able to play and not worry about your headset running out of charge, especially when you're playing a long time )

Enjoyed my time with it, but ultimately returned
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Outstanding comfort and incredibly open sound stage. Set-up was a breeze and I love that I did not have alternate in the settings between audio connection to the my sound system or the headset. Ultimately, I returned the set for two reason 1) I set about 8 feet away from an 82 inch screen when playing PS4 and dealing with the cords got to be a pain; and 2) I had occasional bouts of sound cutting out of one of the speakers that would be remedied by fiddling with the cord connection at the point of the headset. If dealing with the wires is not an issue and you are looking for one of the most comfortable and immersive headsets for your PS4, this might be the right choice for you.

Mixed feelings
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanna start by sayin the packaging is amazing,im a sucker for presentation when unboxing products and this one hits the spot. The upside is the customizability and function of the headset. The downside is its not fully PS5 compatible (must purchase an hdmi splitter). I grew up with turtle beaches so this is my first astro headset and i can say its a great headset out the box ,for PC and PS4 only.

Good but very expensive for the price!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very well overpriced., I returned and got myself a logitech g pro x. Beats this one out of the waters at a fraction of price. This headphone is good but not that good for the price.

Must purchase noise-canceling separately
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are great minus one caveat- that you must purchase noise-canceling separately. Pros: Loud, good sound quality, easy to adjust, quick setup, makes streaming easier. Perfect for PS4.
