I purchased this laptop for $150. I'm sure some better deal catchers got it for $100 at BF sales. It is a solid small laptop. I use it for email, web surfing, MS office, basic programming and other stuff that don't really need cores processors. The laptop is snappy. It's light enough to carry around the house or work space. The keyboard is decent for typing, unlike the asus transformer that have very narrow keys. Battery life is comparable of a win tablet with atom processor. You can use it occasionally for a whole day without charging. Touch pad is not very sensitive to dry finger tips but not a big deal. I just hope the hinge will hold since I open and close it very often. One down side is the storage. Off the bat you only have about 18GB left with a huge 10GB recovery partition that you can't delete like that I did with a dell tablet. Once you install a few programs, your drive will fill up. Use an sd card to hold anything you don't have to put on your C drive. Perfect for student and on the go people as a second computer. If you want to heavily rely on it as a primary computer, you will find it to be slow and short of storage when you need speed and space.

I have had this for 3 weeks plus I did some research before I bought it (I also own a Asus N7 2013 tablet, Asus N4 phone and PC that I built) and this laptop is perfect for what I needed for my tabletop roleplaying games (Pathfinder/D&D) for use of a program called Herolab. It runs the program flawlessly while also doing Netflix (and casting it to Chromecast), Youtube at the same time without the CPU even working hard. The battery life is excellent, the screen is the right size, comes with a FULL OS 8.1 plus the weight is so light I do not even feel any weight when I carry it. Also the Wifi works excellently and some people have had a issue with the mouse pad which I have had no issues so far (have used it quite a lot) but I do have a small mini wireless mouse (which works with no issues) in case I need to get things done fast while playing a pathfinder game. It does have only 2 USB (2.0) but really for something this small if you need more then there is SO many USB hubs out there to add more if needed. I have yet to try the mini HDMI so I cannot say much about that. I have only a few slight nags. The speakers are in the front which is great but on the bottom instead on top and in a quiet room it is fine but with other noises it is very hard to hear but then I am sure most people will use ear buds/phones which when used is very nice (I use Asus Vulcan ANC). The keyboard is small but after a while using I do get use to it. Also if you are a fast at typing it has a tendency to lag so you might have to wait for the software you are using to catch up to what you are typing. It is also a fingerprint magnet but if you are more concerned about usage than looks then fingerprints should be a non issue. I paid (with tax) a tad under $200 and I think ASUS hit this 11.6" laptop out of the park for I got my $$ worth plus more and I think this can easily replace a tablet for being on the go as well as use around the house. So the pros out weight the cons to still give this, imho, 5 stars instead of 4.

This is a niche product with few competitors. While the memory and primary storage are limited, the unit has sufficient juice to perform the tasks it was designed to do admirably. The 16GB version has room to install Chrome and Firefox, the full Enterprise version of MS Office (it comes with a subscription to the one-year personal version, but will try to downgrade any existing versions you currently have if you use a common MSID to on the device) and still leave you 8GB for whatever else you want to put on there. The McAfee LiveSafe Internet security software is unobtrusive and seems to not bog the system down, but it appears to be a 30-day trial version that can likely be replaced with something just as effective for free. Because the unit runs off of flash memory instead of a traditional spindle drive, boot up and program loading times are comparable to an SSD. The Atom processor is likewise snappy enough for what most users will be doing with this device, and it benchmarks just a few points below the trashy Celeron processors that they throw in the newer devices with spindle drives that cost twice as much. As mentioned in almost every professional review, battery life is great, and Asus / Windows 8 do a great job of restoring right where you left off when you put it into sleep mode by just snapping the screen closed and tucking it away in a hurry to pick up later--upon opening the unit again later, everything is as you left it without noticeable battery drain. It is notable that a Class 10 micro SD card will greatly increase the storage capacity of the device, although it may be more useful for docs / pics / etc. than installations. Also of note is the 500GB of cloud storage that Asus provides upon setting up an account with Asus Webstorage, as well as the 1TB of OneDrive storage that typically accompanies a subscription to MS Office. Perhaps one last item of note is the size... It's small enough to sit inconspicuously in your lap at almost any function and allow you to type away, yet large enough to allow serious functionality if needed. I recently logged four hours of work time by using it to remote into my desktop while accompanying my daughter to her college orientation if that kind of cements the idea. The only two things I really dislike are 1) that the "Home" and "End" buttons are on the "forward" and "back" arrows respectively, and only accessible via a combo press with the "Function" key, and 2) that the matte finish picks up every oily fingerprint, so that even five minutes using it with freshly washed hands leaves the unit looking as if a preschooler spent an hour with it watching Netflix and eating french fries. Enjoy.

This laptop does exactly what it's marketed for, and does it very well. It's a light weight, surprisingly fast, and all around great little machine for basic computing(Internet browsing, word processing, email, etc.). I've even got it to run some very basic games like FTL, Red Alert 2, Fallout 1 and 2, Terraria, and it runs them without a hitch. Pros: Light weight, amazing battery life, the speakers actually aren't half bad, can play some older and low performance games, very portable, great feel on the keyboard, and great screen for it's size. Cons: Very noticeable hang time and stuttering under a large load, like moving multiple large files at a time both around the computer and onto/off of an external hard drive, the 32gb flash memory on board fills up VERY fast(especially since a good chunk of it is already taken up by the OS) so a Micro SD card is pretty much a required addition, not much of a con since I haven't needed it at all so far but there isn't a CD/DVD drive. Overall, this is a great little laptop for basic computing, and it's replaced my tablet for my everyday use.

Great battery life. Used it for eight hours at a conference and battery stll half charged. I wish I could turn off the tap function on the touchpad but haven't figured out how. Repeatedly get low memory error msg, but it has never crashed as a result. While it has its limitations, for $150 I am very pleased. Stll waiting for Best Buy to send me Windows 10 upgrade I was promised when I bought it.

If your level of expectations is on par with the cost of this little laptop then you will be pleasantly surprised. Its quick, has grate battery life, good build quality, and is very lite. Only complaint I have is that 32gb 'hard drive' space isn't enough (at least 64gb would be nice). Overall it's a grate buy.

I bought this laptop for my daughter. She is a Jr in High School and does all of her home work on GoogleDocs. The unit boots up fast and is surprisingly fast for only 2GB of memory. I am sure the SSD helps with speed. I have not converted to Windows 10 but will do so this fall after bugs are worked out. Love the small size, fits in a back pack, love the light weight, less than 2 pounds and the screen is surprisingly good for a sub $200 laptop. Battery life has been fantastic. I would recommend it over the cheap chromebooks as it is the same price and you get all of the Windows benefits. I added a micro SD card which boosted the internal storage from 32 GB to 64 GB. She has been watching Neflix and Comcast on-line for 3 weeks and has had no issues. A very good machine for the price. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 3 is the 32GB internal storeage.

Point one: Kudos to ASUS for making the initial boot so easy as in regards to installing win10. On the first boot you are given the option to download Win10 and you can install immediately or later. I decided to skip the fiasco of Win8.1 and installed Win10. The install was flawless. IMPORTANT NOTE - Make sure you have a USB thumb drive or external USB disc drive as you will get a warning that you do not have enough space for the install. It uses the external drive to store temp files for the install. IMPORTANT NOTE: After the install you will have around 14 GB free space. This is because it stores the old Win8.1 files in 2 directories, windows.old and forget the other directory name. These will be deleted automatically in 28 days. You can delete them manually, Google the process. Point two: I installed a 64GB Micro SD card. No issues at all. I immediately transferred, from external USB drive, about 10GB of MP3's and 30GB of MP4 movies via USB2 port. Transfer was flawless. Point three: Notebook searched for available networks and the connection was easy. I choose my secure network and I was prompted for WiFi Network Name (SSID) and WiFi Password. No issues at all. On 15-20 subsequent boots it connects each time without issue. Good range. My impressions: I am impressed with the quality of the the ASUS EeeBook X205TA. It's solid, well built, and looks great. The audio quality via built in speakers is adequate. Nothing to write home about but good volume for a notebook this size. The audio quality via the headphone jack is awesome. Better than most of my MP3 players. Totally impressed. I had no issues installing KeePass for password management and I can automatically log onto all my sites with no issues. I also installed Ccleaner with no issues and Malwarebytes with no issues. I also added a USB mouse and it's very responsive as is the Touch pad. I have streamed Netflix and see NO lag whatsoever. Also ESPN and YouTube online with no lag. I am quite impressed with the picture quality. For the time being I am using the built in MS Edge browser and it's quite smooth while browsing. I wasn't sure that it was going to live up to its battery life claim of 8-12 hours. Of course this depends on what your activity is. I was streaming Netflix for a time, watching movies from the SD card, listening to music, web browsing, ran a 2 hour defender scan and various on board apps. I got about 10 hours of battery life until I hit below 10%. I always like to deep cycle the battery for the first charge. It only took about (sort of estimating) 1.5 hours to fully charge back up to 100%. I think if you know what you are purchasing (it's not an I7 system with 16GB of memory!) and live within the capabilities this is one sweet notebook. I could not be more pleased. Of course I cannot predict long term reliability at this point.

I was very hesitant when I purchased this laptop, but I can honestly say it's become my personal favorite. Over the years I have purchased more expensive and bigger laptops, but this one is by far the best. It is light weight, easy to use, small enough to fit in a purse or book bag, yet big enough to get anything you want done. It connects quickly to WiFi and the battery is excellent. I use it daily and charge it maybe 2 times a week and not because it really needs it, but jut because I like to keep the battery fully charged.

This laptop is probably the best sub $200 laptop on the market today. With a free year of office 365 it makes it perfect for an upcoming college student and its so portable it will fit right in my bag instead of just my iPad. The reason I went with this laptop wasn't for power or for gaming, it was strictly for the price and the inclusion of office 365. I have a new macbook pro but theres no way I was going to take that to college every day, its just way to expensive to break or get stolen. If I break this laptop it can easily be replaced. Battery life is amazing and even this its only clocked at 1.33 ghz the fact that its quad core makes it better for multitasking and loading webpages. Great little notebook

I am a full-on PC gamer when it comes to my desktop, but those things don't travel too well. Thus, I decided I needed something for use while traveling: I didn't need anything powerful or fast, just something that would let me look up hotels/restaurants/attractions online, do a few mapquests, and maybe watch some Netflix streaming or YouTube or something. My main priority was battery life -- I needed it to survive long plane/car rides which may or may not have had outlets. About seven or eight years ago I purchased an Acer Aspire One (with WinXP) for this purpose and it fit the bill: it was small, light, and the battery lasted about 12 hours in use, and several MONTHS (3+) on standby! I was relatively happy with this configuration, except that the poor thing was unable to keep up with YouTube or Netflix streaming unless I set the video quality to Poor. Also, as webpages became more complex and larger, the small screen resolution (only 1024x600) began to be a limiting factor. When a good deal came around on this Asus which advertised fast speeds and excellent battery life, I jumped on it -- and have been overall happy with my decision. It's definitely as light as the Acer One netbook, and DEFINITELY faster. Not that a netbook is an ideal photoshopping platform, but at least it was passable on this netbook (on the Acer it was terribly slow). I won't be using this for photoshopping or gaming, but webpages load fast and correctly and that's all I really need. The battery life, while definitely good, is nowhere near as awesome as the Acer Aspire One that I have, though. I get a good 8 hours of use on a single charge, but in standby I get maybe two or three weeks before I need to recharge. The larger screen and resolution is very nice, and the overall user experience is just what I'm looking for... EXCEPT I am having a difficult time adjusting to Windows 8. I am thinking of upgrading to Win10, but with only 32gb of storage I'm not sure how practical that is. All things told, however, I am happy with my purchase and will be using my Asus on my travels from now on!

I bought it to use while pursuing my MBA. My fellow students all bought $1,000-$1,500 laptops, but many of them are jealous of my X205TA. When I tell them it was $150-$180, they're floored. It is ultra-light and ultra-portable. The battery is incredible - I NEVER come close to running out of power over the course of a single day. I could probably go three days between charges. It doesn't have the zippiest processor, but it handles regular browsing and doc/xls/ppt/pdf work well enough. I bought a second one for my wife. Why spend $1,000 more to have certain web pages load 1/3 of a second faster?

This is a low end laptop, but it is a bargain. The bigest problems are the touchpad is a little tempermental and there are only 2 USB 2.0 ports, Picture is great, has 12 hour battery life, and weighs under a kilo. If you are looking for a light weight web crawler/ business app machine, this is a winner.

If you're in the market for a highly portable, cheap computer, this is an excellent choice if you can find it. The CPU and memory combination are enough for your average web tasks, and the 32GBs of built-in storage works well if you're already established with OneDrive. MicroSD expansion is great if you want to store video or music files on the device, and you can even connect this laptop to a TV screen if you have a Miracast-capable device in or connected to your television. Overall, you should be aware at this has it's limits with 2GBs of memory and an Atom CPU, but it will likely work well for anyone with limited needs who wants a silent laptop at a cheap price.

This laptop or netbook whatever you want to call it has been an excellent travel companion. It is light weight and the battery life is immaculate. I got at least a good 10 to 11 hours of usage before I had to recharge it. This is a great laptop if you want to do light internet browsing and focus on word processing or even reading ebooks. I primarily use netbooks as a distraction free computer so I that I can mainly focus on writing with the sacrifice of high end graphics and larger hard drive capacity. Overall, this is an excellent netbook. Though, it would be better with touchscreen but I could live without that.

Got this for my son to have a light inexpensive laptop for school. It has enough battery life for the whole day and actually is very fast for the price. The year of Office 365 was an awesome bonus. If you are looking for a gaming machine then look elsewhere but it will ring less taxing games such as Hearthstone and League of Legends.
