My 2nd laptop...1st time ASUS owner. Nice computer, sensitive keyboard, just have to get used to the touch. Very easy start up. Brand new, so at this time it is a great machine. I had the GEEK SQUAD update to Windows 10,without a hitch!!! So far, very good. Not disappointed.

I bought this for my child for college. The college "required" them to have at least an i3 processor and a DVD drive. I found that this ASUS with an AMD A10 processor that was as good or better than most i3 and i5 processor computers (according to CPUboss.com) in the same price range, which for an open box turned out to be $350+tax. Could not beat that at all. Also, with the 8G of RAM and 1T hard drive, my child can store thousands of pictures and still have lots of room to spare. Installation of software was generally quick and applications would run well. Adobe CC installation was a little slower, but that seems understandable. When I gave adobe video and photo editing programs a test run, they worked well though I didn't get to try rendering. All in all, seemed to run better than our older similar ASUS laptop with a Celeron processor, which I would have expected, but is never guaranteed. My daughter's comments (with the caveat that she is a music major and does not do any processor intensive work on her laptop): "The computer is totally fantastic! It's fast, durable, and I really like it. I usually have to upload homework online so it's nice to have a computer that is quick. As for software, I feel like everything works really well."

Honestly, its a great value for the price. Plenty of power for the price spent, but beware, you'll need to spend just a little more to get the most out of it, but you can save a little on that if your careful and tech savvy enough. It comes with 8GB of RAM, but thats in ONE stick of ram, leaving another slot free, first things first get another stick, 4 or 8 GB will be enough, either way as long as it is at least DDR3 1.6Ghz PC-128000 ram your good to go. It's a pain to install, so if your nervouse and have never worked on the insides of a laptop before, might wanna ask a techy friend for help. Because this is a chore. The 1TB HDD is great, but only 5200RPM, so can be a little slow. So out of the box, theres a little bottlenecking on the HDD and RAM, Add the ram as I advised, and Get a faster HDD in this, and it turns into a TRUE little BEAST. While intels i5s and i7s are great, the A10 APU will perform better than either when it comes to gaming on a budget. Unless the intel machines are paired with NVidia graphics chipsets they are always left with intel HD3000 to 4000 chipsets. For those machines your spending $700+ for the same gaming quality as this $400ish machine. That's Value. And she runs nice and cool.

I need a laptop is a good processor, a good size hard drive, and a good amount of ram. For a cheap price. Thats exactly what I got. I was orginally going to by a chrome. Only i need something that would run windows office and proccess videos. I wish it had a touch screen only because windows 8 sucks without that feature. Overall its a good laptop.

I am very happy with my new Asus laptop....it's a big change trying to get used to windows 8 but the laptop is great for the price....the keyboard is also a bit sensitive, so that's hard to get used to....but overall...I am very happy with the memory/drive etc....and I love that it has 1 Tb of space for my pictures, documents etc....this is my 2nd asus laptop and I have had good luck with this brand...cheaper than name brand too..

This laptop may not appear to be one of the best but underneath the keyboard is a very powerful CPU and GPU. If you're looking for a pc that can be used to play pc games with good graphical output this is a very good one to get. Price-wise its a no brainer. I use it to stream Xbox One games to the laptop due to Windows 10 Xbox app. Graphics are awesome and it handles the workload flawlessly.

So my son broke his laptop the day before he needed to leave for college. We didn't have the time or the funds to be picky. This one was purchased as an open box and has been great so far. My son said it beats the heck out of his old HP and he wouldn't trade it. He's even able to play WOW on it, which I guess is impressive at this price point.

Bought this recently to use at home and I'm very happy with the purchase. It's a great quality laptop with decent speed, at the current price it's more than value for money. Highly recommend it.

Really nice specs for the price. So far it is working great! Some specs files don't mention whether or not it comes with Bluetooth. It _does_ come with Bluetooth. Only issue will be with battery replacement. I found a tutorial online on how to do it yourself, but you must be comfortable getting inside the guts of the computer.

I bought this laptop for my kid as she does online school and her previous laptop (Pentium) wasn't cutting it. This laptop is great! Speed is awesome, the A10 is a great processor. For the money this is a great value. It was not loaded with a ton of junk. It made me want to buy another just for me.

I'm surprised at what this laptop offers at the price point. There is ample ram, the cpu is pretty good and the integrated gpu is actually pretty good. Stuff like Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 and other games run at a good clip. IT also does an acceptable job at minor video editing and some moderate photoshopping and makes a great internet machine. It's not as powerful as a full featured desktop, but for the price, this machine works great.

Just upgraded this laptop to Windows 10 with no issues. It is powerful enough to meet the needs of web browsing, video playback, presentations, word processing, and light gaming. My only complaint is I do not entirely like the feel and feedback on the touchpad. Overall, a solid laptop for the price.

I had a ASUS before not sure why I tried something else without doubt this laptop is superior to my last one, I won't say the name of that one. The speed is nice the 10 key pad and the beautiful screen makes it a perfect choice for work or play. It can do everything I want it to do and probably more. And the best part the price was right.

I bought this ASUS Windows 8.1 after my old Windows 7 ASUS passed on. This model, so far, has been fast & dependable. My old ASUS had 6-8 hours on the battery; this 1 seems to only have about 3 hours, but it cost much less than the old model. It is great for my needs for a laptop.

Bought this for my daughter as she does online school. It is fast & was super easy to set up. It's better than my desktop and kind of makes me want to buy another one for myself! I was leery about the AMD processor but it's great. Arrived quickly, no issues. I'm happy about this purchase and would buy again.

I've had this laptop for 1.5 months now, and I'm very pleased with this product to date. I did a LOT of price and feature comparison prior to making this purchase and found this unit to have the most reasonable price for the features I wanted. The AMD A10 processor, 1TB hard drive and 8GB RAM (WHICH IS UPGRADABLE TO 16GB!) offered twice the oomph of comparably-priced laptops from other companies. The construction and build quality are comparable to my husband's 1 year old HP laptop. Like laptops from most manufacturers, this unit comes pre-installed with a good number of software programs and apps, not all of which I was interested in, but it was easy enough to uninstall those I did not want. It comes with Windows 8.1 installed, and the free upgrade option for Windows 10 became available within the first day. (NOTE: I have not yet taken advantage of this upgrade, but do not feel rushed to do so since Microsoft is making this free upgrade option available until mid-2016). I've had no issues to date with any of the hardware components, and I have already applied some driver updates without problem. One negative to note about this laptop: THE BATTERY IS BUILT IN AND NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM OUTSIDE THE UNIT. I was aware of this detail when making the purchase, though, and felt the price savings made up for this inconvenience. This battery issue is the ONLY reason I give this laptop 4 stars instead of 5! It will be interesting to see whether the battery lasts past the 1-year warranty period. Fortunately, a YouTube user has thoughtfully posted a video showing a walk-through of how to replace the battery which even a tech novice like me can follow. When that time comes, hopefully I'll be able to order a replacement battery fairly easily. All-in-all, I'd say this laptop is an excellent deal for the budget-conscious buyer. IF the interior battery is a deal-breaker for you, best to look at a different unit. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this machine!

I like the "old" feel, its a good laptop for people who do not want to upgrade to tablets or other newer pcs and it has a cd rom which is necessary for many people since we all still have CD's. I don't like the battery life (too short). I like the weight, the price, the keyboard with extra numlock keypad. /this type of laptop needs to stay around for a while ! thanks...

I am on my second ASUS and know they are a good product. I am not a fan of the windows 8.1. I have used windows 7 since it came out and have yet to see an improvement on it. I will change to Windows 10 and see. The computer is great and fast.

It was easy to set up, lightning fast, and even easy to install Windows 10 on. I have had it for about a month now, and have had no problems with it. And since I got it on sale, the price was great!! Can't find it anywhere at that price any more.
