Light weight, nice looking, plenty fast for what I need, [web surfing bill paying]. Nice screen size and clarity and lots of storage. This is replacing another ASUS that I had for 7 years before it started to have issues. That's a pretty long time I think, so this brand gets my vote. I'm in my late 60's and not techie but was able to set this up by myself. This also is a great value !!!

This really is a great laptop for the price point. A good bit of memory, fast processing. This was the only laptop under $500 that could run Unreal & Blender.

Good, Minor Typing Issues, Warning About Charging

Overall, I would say this is a good laptop, but I haven't owned it for long and haven't yet done anything rigorous on it, so that could change and if it does, I'll edit the review. I am having trouble with typing, but it's probably partly because I'm used to a computer that's 17". But there have been so many times when I've been typing and suddenly the cursor is somewhere else and I'm typing in the middle of another word. So I have to go back, cut whatever I've written in the middle of a word and put it back where it's supposed to be. Otherwise though, I really like this laptop so far. One thing to note is that there is an automatic setting for charging that is meant to increase battery life. Once the device hits 100% charged, it will cease charging even when it is plugged in. It will instead, slowly discharge until it hits 95% charged, and then begin charging again. This is an Asus thing that was created to help increase the life of the battery overall, so don't freak out if the computer is at 97%, is plugged in, and isn't charging. If it does freak you out, simply unplug the computer and plug it back it. That resets the system so it thinks it needs to charge and it will charge until it is 100% again.

I bought this laptop to replace an old one. All of the specs on the new one are at least twice the size as the old. This laptop runs way slower than the old one that is 10 years old. I can't fully say waste of money as it's an okay laptop for back up in my office for basic uses. Mainly is used to run a Cricut, make invoices, and print shipping labels. I still use the old one for my main system.

This is a decent laptop for students. The keyboard can be a challenge at times, not always picking up keys that are pressed. I own a similar HP laptop in functionality with a slightly higher price and I favor the HP at this point.

Purchased this laptop for my sister. Great find, does everything she needs and has enough space on hard drive. She uses for work assignment, time and schedule keeping. Plus shop on line. Perfect. Might order one for myself as back up since my old one is dated and no longer get updates.

I was in need of a new laptop so I bought this one. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight it is. I am a college student and lugging around a heavy laptop in my backpack caused a lot of back pain for me. This laptop is also super fast and responsive. It is the perfect laptop for a college student like me.

Its a pretty computer and very light. It performs for what I want it to do. I am disappointed that the Caps Lock does not have a light to indicate when it's on or off. There are some keyboards that are not really backlit but has an indicator light on the CapsLock. That would make a difference. The keyboard does not feel very solid and I would prefer it if the hinges of the cover were just a bit more sturdy. The very plasticky feel is very disappointing. Otherwise, the screen display is bright and rather sharp and boots up quickly. It's an inexpensive laptop that is capable of delivering.

Great laptop for the price. If you're on a budget, this is the laptop you want. Spent 2 months trying to find the best laptop I could for under $500 and this was the winner. Plenty of storage for your everyday needs. The volume levels are very good. Fast processor too. I love it.

Gets the job done as a backup but would not recommend for a primary computer. Kind of cheaply made so not super durable. Kind of missing creature comforts like backlit keys or lit caps lock or number keys.

I like this laptop in general - great price and good performance. The only downside of this product is the keyboard. Its arrow keys are placed in a weird place and it's so hard to use it. I always press the wrong direction. Moreover, those keys are so close to the insert key and I keep pressing the insert key, which deletes what I wrote. That's it. I am pretty happy with the product other than that.

Very good Laptop for the price considering what you get, it may not have a dedicated GPU, but it's great for lighter gaming or for work. Shipping speed was less than desirable, but considering the pandemic there's not much you can do.

I bought this as a backup when I started working from home afraid that my 4 year old laptop could die one day and didn't want to unable to work waiting for a replacement since the stores are all closed. My old, inexpensive HP is sooo much faster. Anything I do causes the CPU to jump to 100% and webpages load slowly. I have a 10 year old 3rd laptop that loads this quickly. Unfortunately I didn't run the unit during the 2 week return period since I assumed it would be better than what I had and was busy with work. If you buy this make sure you test it out. I'll never buy ASUS again.

      Dear Breandan,

The slow speed or performance is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot, black screen temporarily or restart during the update process.

Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. Keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance.

If the above-mentioned steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/.

While accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Also, clearing internet cache or browsing history will improve system performance. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help. Or, you can speak to an ASUS live support agent at http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

It’s very cheaply made and EXTREMELY slow. The processor can’t keep up with even the basic of tasks. Forget multitasking. It reliably turns on and once it finally opens the program you need it seems to work OK but be prepared to read a book or watch a movie while it boots up or loads a program.

    Homeschool Laptops

We bought this laptop, 2 of them actually, for our kids to use. We will begin Homeschooling them this year, so we wanted them to have a laptop as a resource tool that would be quick and reliable. ASUS didn't disappoint with this one. I would have preferred Win 10 Pro, but the Home version seems to be fine for now. I might change it in the future if I have any problems, but am content for now. Only thing I'd like different about it, is for there to be a LED power indicator. Once the screen goes out, it's hard to tell if it is powered on or in sleep mode. I've pressed the power button (which is in an odd location.... top right, blending in with the number pad), thinking it was not on, which has put the machine in sleep mode. Luckily, it doesn't take long to boot up.
