Customers are enthusiastic about the AX6000 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Router's impressive range, ease of use, and strong performance, both wired and wireless. Many appreciate the numerous Ethernet ports and the straightforward setup process. The Asus - AX6000 is a NexGen 802.11ax MU-MIMO WiFi router. This router doesn't need any apps to setup. You would set this one via the traditional browser method. This provides a range of admin tools to setup and control this router. It also comes with 8 LAN ports which should be plenty for wired connections. This router comes with Asus AiMesh feature which helps with adding multiple Asus routers in a mesh setup for the whole home. The new WiFi standard provides increased signal range, which means less dead spots for your devices. Your devices need to support 802.11ax if you want to make use of this feature. But this is future proofing, in case your do not have any 802.11ax devices and it is backwards compatible with older WiFi standards. The router also comes with AiProtection Pro, Adaptive QoS, Traffic Analyzer powered by Trend Micro. You can't use these features if you do not allow your data to be sent to Trend Micro. This router also supports OpenVPN client and server options. This is useful if you intend to setup a dedicated VPN via the router using your VPN software. This router is loaded with features for various operating modes. This is a bit heavy and well built router. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a future proof router with lot of tech options that you can customize to your need.

PRO'S Awesome AX level router. NO end user devices but it does actually help newer ac devices also. Easy setup and joining the network. It has auto software updates over night you can setup too. It has 8 Gigabit lan port on the back. So if you have a central location you want to hook up lots of devices directly to the router this is one to look at. Now connection speed and distance are outstanding for me in my home. CON'S Over kill for a small home with a handle full of devices. Really big router with everything hooked up. With any new tech some devices may have connection issue's and need updating. A list of Intel wifi cards are included the box as known issues. Final thoughts Once ax end user devices hit the market we will see the true speed test and distance benefit.

I have owned this router since 2019 and it has served me well. Asus continues to support this router with firmware updates, with the most recent release Oct 2023. One of the features I really like is that it has 8Lan ports so a switch is not needed. It will work in Asus mesh system. I am pleased with this purchase. The reason I bought it at BB is it could be purchased with an extended warranty.

I have two other very high end routers that were considerably more expensive than this new ASUS and this one blows them away. I had an older ASUS that I had used for several years and had forgotten just how solid the hardware is. I recently upgraded my internet to 400 MBS and my other high end routers couldn’t handle it. This one not only handles it, but handles it wirelessly throughout my home. Even from the basement. It’s such a superior device. The setup was very easy as was the update process for the firmware. I can’t recommend this router enough. Buy it and love it. It is the easily the best router that I have owned.

This router works really well. Setup was very easy and straight forward. Provides a strong wifi signal through out my home, even on floors where the router isn't sitting. I would highly recommend this product if looking for a sound router with easy setup and strong wifi signal.

This router is very easy to setup. I was up and running within a few minutes. The GUI is very easy to navigate, and there are a ton of options available. My favorites are "Adaptive QOS" giving my PC priority over all others in the house, and "Parental Controls", so I can make sure my daughter is not watching YouTube or chatting with friends after hours. The WTfast feature is very limited on this router. I wish there was a way to add a game. For now, there's just a handful of games to chose from, and a tiny fraction of those are actually PC games. There might be a way to update it, but I haven't figured it out yet. The only game I have lag issues with is just about any COD (PC) title that has come out after they did away with actual browser searchable dedicated servers. The LED lights can be turned off, but they are not very bright, so I left them on. Overall I'm very pleased with this router.

Poor download speed, terrible customer service

Don't waste your time with this router. Just get the Netgear Nighthawk RAX120. So. Much. Better. I have a gigabit fiber connection through my ISP and when I tested it wired directly to the ONT or even to this router, I got 900+ mb/s upload and download. However, as soon as I switched to wireless, even with my computer 6 inches away from the router, the download speed dropped to 350 mb/s, while my upload speed was around 850 mb/s. Naturally, I was a bit put off by this so I contacted ASUS customer service. My experience with them was the worst. I kept getting passed off to different people who would ask me for minute details about my system, my settings, saved wifi logs, etc. Naturally I wanted to help with the process so I took the copious amount of time to provide all of these details. However, nothing helpful came back from them. Instead, I would just get another email from a different engineer asking for a slightly modified list of details. This happened about 5 times before I realized I was just being passed off in a state of time-consuming limbo. When I asked for a refund, this was not possible and I can't return the router to the retailer because it's past 30 days, so now I am stuck with a sub-par router backed by a negligent company. Really wish I had gone with the Nighthawk, which I ordered just to test with and got great speeds, but will be returning because I can't get a refund for this thing. Next time.

    Horrible software with cheap construction

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Went through two of these, the first one kept rebooting. The software is horrible, very unstable. If you get it ditch official releases and go for the Merlin versions of the software. Slowed my gigabit internet to barely 600meg, and wireless to half that. Many devices would randomly drop off WiFi, and others like TVs and Thermostats would randomly refuses to connect until rebooted. Software misreports many things, several issues don't show up in the logs. DHCP devices get detected as Static (even though it issued their addresses). Devices are not easily identifiable as to which physical port they are connected. Some ports will endlessly renegotiate (cable is fine) until moved to another port. Turning on any of the additional functions like IPS or QoS will lower performance even more. The hardware has cheap plastic with bulky antennas that have so much extra plastic for decoration they have trouble holding themselves up. Spent endless hours on the phone with support to resolve issues who only stalled and asked for more information each time until the my option to return it ended. Then no response for over a month. Save your money and aggravation. Avoid ASUS routers at all cost.
