Bought a new desktop that did not include an optical drive which is a must for me, so looking for an archival M-Disc capable, do everything drive led me to this Asus. So far- So good. Stylish and functional, and now I can read and write anything. As an older Geek with MANY discs of varying content it's still a MUST in a system!

Since many laptops no longer has cd drives but occasionally one would be helpful, This external drive is priceless. It is lightweight, fully functional and enables the use of my old CDs and DVDs. It is also quiet and small enough to fit into my computer bag. Excellent economical purchase.

You get what you pay for. The drive works fine. I plugged it into my HP Envy laptop with Win 11 and it works with zero issues. As with all "slim and portable" drives, it requires 2-hand operation or it skids all over the place when trying to access and manipulate the bay. I'm thinking of Velcro-ing it to my monitor stand ... The split cable is super awkward both physically and electrically. You'll see what I mean when you try to plug in both ends. One end is for data + power, the other end is for only power and used if the data port has insufficient juice for write operations. Note: there is very little length between the two heads. This needs special consideration. To make it work, I had to plug the data head into a USB Type-C PD port, or both heads into two ports side by side on a powered hub. Your mileage may vary ... Bottom line :: it works fine if you can accommodate the port requirements and it's feather weight issues.

Just plugged in and works great i also have an HP 14 in laptop i use with and it works great

My collection of hundreds of CDs was aching to be transferred to digital accounts. I was able to use the straightforward Asus to capture my cherished music collection and of course I can still use the drive anytime since it is still looking strong. It took me months to do the uploads, but the Asus is Ace for us.

Great little portable DVD CDR I gotten so far. Easy user friendly interface. Great price highly recommend to anyone.

Have a fairly new computer - after about 6 months realized it did not have the CD drive - since I have a Card Maker program that needed to be installed via CD - needed to get that set up - this worked perfectly! Plus - have many CD's with photos from years back that I can now use this for looking at those. Very happy with purchase! Highly recommend.

Excellent external optical drive. The open/eject button is placed a little weird and is tricky to press just right, but the drive itself is great. Can burn a backup disk or watch movies with no lag. Great price.

Easy to set up. Functions well. A big step up from cheaper ones I've had before.

Nothing fancy, but the plug and play ease of use was everything to me. Extracted photos and files from an old disc no problem

I just needed a small peripheral DVD/CD reader/writer for occasional music recording . Does a great job for the money. Worked right away with my Linux Mint operating system - just plug and play!

The drive works very well. Just be aware that it requires 2 inputs one for input and power the other for power. Make sure you have sufficient USB ports. Another thing to consider is the disc drawer comes out rather than having the disc drawn into the drive.

I hate that my new laptop does not have an optical drive. I also hate that my new car does not have a CD player. You know why? Because I'm old skool and I still buy music from iTunes and burn my own CD's. But, this seems to be a very good unit. Simply plug it into your laptop or PC and it's ready to go. I've only used it once so far, but it work great! I just wish it was a little more "solid". I want to be able to press the eject button without having to hold the unit down so it doesn't move when doing so. But that is being very critical and it would make it less portable (and maybe even more expensive) and that is one of the selling points to this device.

It RIPped an audio CD I needed quickly or it will have not gotten done at all. The etched design of the case is very attractive and a pleasant bonus. I found it online and went to the store to purchase in person because I wanted to pay in cash. The store was much better than expected, modern, attractive and the perfect place to try out new technology.

Easy to set up & store when not in use or want out of way. Less e xpensive than installing cd/dvd drive into new computer that didn't come with one but had slot for it. Drive from old computer being replaced was too big for this slot. Excellent value

Great portable DVD drive. One wire is all that's needed. Fast, easy to use. Great size and easy to store. Great price. Actually use more than I thought I would.

This product worked on the first use. I was able to view over 1,000 pages of medical records using this CD-RW Drive on my legal case.

My son LOVES this drive matches up with ASUS laptop and works as promised, very fast and accurate burn, highly recommend.

In today’s market, it is nearly impossible to have a built in CD/DVD on your laptop. This is an excellent CD/DVD, player/rewriter, addition. I liked how easy it was to set up (i.e., just plug and play). I definitely recommend having this device around. It’s compatible with all computers.

I love the diamond pattern on this and it runs quietly and opens easily. I had to return a different brand that I initially purchased because I couldn't get it open and it was very noisy while running, but this one is fabulous. It's worth every penny that I paid for it. Definitely recommend it.
