Love the Laptop, but not happy with the proprietary "USB C" charger.

This laptop is phenomenal !!! The battery lasts a long time when using for normal tasks or watching movies but lasts for maybe an hour and a half max when gaming

I was blown away by the power of this. Easily running anythin application that you may need. Screen is crisp and bright. Speakers are some of the best I’ve had on a laptop. Definitely worth the price if you can afford it.

I regularly buy Best Buy open box-good products but in recent months they are only good cosmetically.
Asus ProArt P16 has great reviews but two big issues that limits its usability.
USB-C charging (with latest firmware applied) locks CPU in some low power mode that cannot be re-configured.
Even with the discrete GPU disabled when you connect power through USB-C at 100W cpu performance is about 25% lower than on-battery!? - in my case it never goes over 2.5GHz on all cores, while on-battery can easily go to 4GHz all 12 cores?
Not to mention that 100W should be enough for lower cpu and discrete gpu usage.
Tried every combination in Asus settings - no luck, and reddit shows similar problems, making this laptop very unusable if not connected to the bulky charger.
Second issue is random black screen for a fraction of a second, sometimes even full second or longer. No way to get rid of it - even with disabled discrete GPU, it will go black and then on again (firing up keyboard light if on) so this looks like a hardware issue. Tried to connect it with some sensor setting (dim screen when look away) - nothing works. Again, Reddit shows users that report same issue that goes away only if you a lucky with the replacement unit?! This is unacceptable both from Asus and Best Buy if they are selling failed units as open-box.
I am returning mine.

Although, the USB-C ports supports power delivery, it can only provide a maximum power of 100 watts. This wattage is not adequate to run this laptop at optimum performance, we recommend using the 200W AC Adapter if you are running games and resource intensive applications. ASUS Pro Art 16 microphone will not work.

I bought this ASUS Pro Art 16 at Best Buy in AVL on April 14, 2025. It is a beast, a lot of capability. As a 77 year old it will take some time learning WIN 11--my issue. However there is one significant issue. I have not been able to get the internal microphone working with much work. It is past Geek Squad help. It is a really disappointing outcome for an otherwis!e great machine. HELP!

Laptop functions great. Bought it for editing videos and using Blender. Impressed with the sound quality. One suggestion would be including a number pad on the keyboard.

I've never purchased an ASUS before. I usually purchase Dell and Lenovo, and usually upgrade my laptop very 2 years. Had a Bestbuy Salesguy recommend this computer. It was on sale so I went for this over a Dell XPS. BIG MISTAKE.
Within 2 weeks of using the laptop, it froze while booting up and screen would go black. Took it to Bestbuy and they fixed it. Over the next few weeks, I've had nothing but issues. I can't play videos becuse of some driver issue. Took me a couple of hours to resolve that. Now my Screen capture software isn't working due to a audio error. I've used Snagit for screen capture for 10-years, this is my first ever issue with anything audio related.
This computer had really nice specs compared to similar priced laptops but in the end it's not worth it. I don't even notice a faster speed over my Dell XPS that I switched over from. I would stay clear of this laptop.

During the initial Windows setup and updates installations, the laptop will do several system reboots, black screen temporarily or restart during the update process. This merely means updates are being installed and applied in the System Registry. Once the initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation are completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. Keeping the laptop updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. Additionally, ensure drivers, BIOS and applications are up to date besides updating Windows. Furthermore, while accessing web applications, ensure this laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor and unstable internet connection will definitely affect system speed and performance.
