It’s not what I expected has to be with a subscription to have the best results. Don’t get much play back so that’s why the low score. The installation was pretty easy.

**OVERALL** The Blink Outdoor 4 is a compact, wireless outdoor, user-friendly security system offering high-quality video that's quick and easy to set up for an affordable price of $100. That being said, I'm typically not a fan of these systems, but for the purpose of this review, we'll scrap all that for an unbiased look at these. For those unaware, these systems are cloud first subscription serviced with limited functionality without a subscription. Separate modules can be purchased for local functionality but that'll be detailed below. On the surface, these units have a good build quality but a semi annoying mounting bracket that may fool you into believing you'll break the mounts during assembly. One of the key benefits of the Blink system is the scalability, allowing you to add multiple cameras and Modules to monitor multiple properties/locations with minimum effort. The system offers cloud storage through a Blink subscription which can cover up to 10 devices at a rate of $100/yr. For a single, that comes down to $30/yr. The Outdoor 4 is powered by a pair of AA batteries; more specifically Energizer Lithium with an estimated runtime of 2-years. **Pros:** * Quick and easy setup * Scalable system for monitoring multiple locations * Convenient cloud storage solution through Blink Subscription * 2-year battery life **Cons:** * finicky mount to attach that may feel fragile * Third-party mounts may be necessary for better performance/positioning * Limited functionality without subscription **FEATURES** To access most of the features of the Blink Outdoor 4 system, you'll need to purchase a subscription plan or opt for a one-time purchase of the Sync Module 2 with a USB port for local storage. The Plus subscription plan costs $100 per year for up to 10 devices or $30 per year for Basic and one device. If you choose to go with local storage, the Sync Module 2 costs $50. With a sub, the Outdoor 4 offers motion detection, person detection and vehicle detection. Without it you get motion detection notifications only. Blink moments gets bundled with the Plus sub only, which stitches multiple recordings to form a semi cohesive playback of events that triggered 1 or more cameras within 45 seconds of each other and within the same system. Motion detection seems accurate with the only mix-ups I've noticed is vehicle detection being triggered as motion detection. I mostly blame my setup for that. Night vision is acceptable but suffers with range. Adding the battery extension will give you an absurd operation time of 4 years on the camera. A USB port is optional to wire a permanent power solution or solar panel. **LOCAL STORAGE OPTION:** * Sync Module 2 with USB port: $50 * Local storage option for stored clips. **ADDITIONAL OPTIONS:** * Solar options available for outdoor cameras * Blink Outdoor 4 Battery Extension for up to 4 years runtime **ISSUES** On day 2 of ownership, before placing outdoors. I propped the camera up on a shelf until I had the chance to mount it somewhere outdoors. This left it between 10'-15' from the sync module. Upon checking up in the Blink app, I realized the camera was not responding. Checking the camera itself I could tell it was powered so I moved it closer to the sync module. With no improvement after a few minutes I tried disconnecting the sync module and forcing a restart. After a few minutes, both were back to the same state. The app reports that the sync module is back and connected to a strong WiFi but no improvement from the camera. I figured the last option was a reset from the camera side. After pulling out the batteries and waiting a few minutes to boot back up, the app began detecting the camera. A few days later, after placing the camera outdoors propped on the first ring I could find, the same issue occurred. The only difference, leaving it alone for a day resulted in the camera coming back. The sync module was already at about 15' from the camera outdoors and no change was made with it so I can't figure out what was the issue but this reliability issue would nerf the need of a camera in the first place. Certain weather situations, cold and high humidity, seems to fog up the lens without meant other environmental factors. So much that any light source distorts it's vision enough to make it unreliable. Overall, the Blink system is easy to use and convenient, making it a great option for those looking for a simple and effective home security solution. However, random disconnects and a housing that may generate more glare/haze than similar products gets it docked a bit.

I was looking for a small outdoor camera for my back door facing the garage. I did not have a big space to mount a large camera. The Blink 4 Outdoor Wireless camera is perfect! It is small, and it fits perfectly in a narrow area that I needed it. The Box includes – Outdoor 4 camera, 2 AA lithium batteries, Blink Sync Module Core, USB-C/USB-A charge cable (for the Sync module), Power adapter, mounting kit, and quick start guide. The 2 AA lithium batteries are supposed to last for approximately 2 years, depending on the camera settings. The Lithium batteries are replaceable. Just unscrew the back of the Blink Camera, insert the batteries and your good to go. The Blink 4 outdoor camera specs: - Full HD With 143-degree field of view - 1920x1080 resolution gives a noticeably clear picture anytime of the day or night. - WiFi 2.4ghz connected to the Sync Module Core (included) - Sync Module Core can be placed anywhere and plugged into an outlet to connect to the camera (should be placed as close as possible) The Sync Module is only about 3” long and easily connects to the camera using your home Wireless router (uses 2.4 band only). - The Audio Can both send and receive (2-way audio). It is not bad, depending on where you put the camera, makes the difference on what and how you can speak and hear. To set up the Blink 4 Outdoor camera you need to download the Blink App to your smartphone. The rest of the setup is done through the app. The instructions are extremely easy to follow as the app gives you step-by-step instructions. The Camera comes with a mounting kit that has the mount, screws, and instruction on how to mount the camera. The mount attaches easily to the house and camera just snaps into place. The Blink App on my android is easy to follow and has all the necessary functions needed to operate the camera. The Blink 4 outdoor camera comes with the Blink Plus Plan Trial for 30 days. After that you can either choose a basic plan for less than a cup of coffee a month, which covers only one camera, keep the Plus Plan and pay more for unlimited cameras, or no plan. - No Plan – Motion activated notifications.  Extended live view up to 5 minutes - Basic Plan - Included with this plan: Unlimited cloud storage for up to 60 days Motion-activated notifications AI-powered person and vehicle detection* extended live view** Motion event recording Live view recording Instant video access Effortless video sharing Photo capture - Blink Plus Plan: - includes all Basic plan Plus the following: Number of devices supported. Blink Moments Snooze notifications 10% off Blink devices Extended warranty coverage Choosing which plan or no plan is best for you is easy to do on the Blink website. If you do not have any cloud storage plans, you can always just download the videos to your smartphone and transfer the videos to your PC later. The Blink 4 Outdoor Camera can also be attached to a solar mount (sold separately). With the solar mount, the batteries are not necessary. SUMMARY PROS: The Blink 4 Camera is lightweight, fits in the palm of your hand and the videos are excellent. There is no need to be super tech savvy. The setup and operation guide instructions are easy to follow. The 2 AA Lithium batteries are easily replaced when needed. Just make sure that the batteries are AA Lithium, non-rechargeable. CONS: The Sync Module Core that’s included does not have any storage capabilities. It is only used to connect Blink 4 to WiFi. If you want to add Micro SD storage, you need to purchase the Sync Module XR sold separately. The Sync Module XR can store up to 256gb on a Micro SD card. The Blink 4 Outdoor camera videos can only be accessed on phone or tablet (with the Blink APP). There is no way to view videos online. Overall, the Blink 4 outdoor Camera with the Sync Module Core, is a nice little camera that records clear videos both day and night. I recommend the Blink 4 Outdoor Camera for its compact size, picture quality, and ease of use.

Blink Camera 4 - Simple and Efficient

I have owned a 2nd generation Blink system for a couple of years now and I have had zero problems with it. So, as I needed to add another camera to the fold, I went with Blink again. The box contains a camera, a wall mount, hardware and batteries (2xAA Lithium), as well as a 4th generation hub. I wanted to take advantage of the new capabilities of the new hub, so I replaced the one that was powering my system. A word of advice, you will need to set everything up *before* mounting it all, this includes going through the installation procedure through the app. It's very simple, you tap to add a device, you pick the right one and scan the QR code on the device and you're all good to go. You can't make the process easier than that. As for the camera, I can already tell that the new model is superior to my 2nd generation cameras. The image is clearer (1080p), more vivid and the night vision works much better. I also realized that the new camera connects faster and has less lag, which is something you would want from any security system. I can't really speak on the battery life since I haven't had the new camera long enough, but if it's anything close to my other cameras, and making sure you use lithium batteries, you can expect about a year before you'll need to replace the batteries (the box claims 2 years of runtime on batteries but I think that's a bit of a stretch). You can also hardwire the cameras using a weatherproof USB cable. The app is excellent, I find it easy to use and has many great features. One of the best parts is the now quite common motion detection area picker, which allows to block certain sections the camera monitors to ignore motion sensing triggers. It works great. Quite frankly, I have recommended the Blink system to many people. It's solid, affordable and flexible, has a good chunk of different devices which can all be added to your security grid. I will very likely replace some of my 2nd generation devices to 4th gen now. Excellent product, recommended!

From setup to placement to the app, I have been impressed with the Blink Outdoor 4 Wireless Camera and hub so far. This is my first Blink camera. I have a few Eufy cameras as well, and have had Arlo in the past. I would say overall, the Blink has superior video quality. However, the Eufy and Arlo cameras are a few years old, so I would expect newer models to have better quality. Setup was simple. The app works well, with an easy to use interface, and it was able to locate and connect the hub and then the camera quickly. I placed the camera about 100 ft away down by our creek to take videos of passing wildlife. So far all I have is a few videos of deer, but the quality is good during the day and at night. I cannot yet speak to the battery life, but I do appreciate that it has easy to replace batteries. Depending on how long they last, I may purchase rechargeable lithium ion batteries. Wnen the batteries in the Arlo cameras died, they were costly to replace so I got rid of the cameras. The two Eufy cameras I have are hard wired, so I cannot compare batteries for those two. The only downside is that the cloud storage costs money after the 30 day free trial. You can also purchase a $15 usb drive for the hub to save files locally, so I will probably go that route once the 30 day trial is over. If I were to purchase additional Blink cameras, I could see the vaule in paying for the monthly cloud service. Overall, with the easy setup, use, and video quality, I would recommend this camera.

Set up was super easy. Just download the blink app scan QR code on sync module and camera after adding to home network and you are ready to install on almost any part of your house or apt outside. Mounting can be done in as little as 10 min(in my case) with the included mounting hardware that doubles as a tool to open the cameras back to install the provided lithium batteries. You can over head mount or side mount and simply attach the camera and you are good to go. Connection is very stable as I never had any drops that I am aware of. Though I did place the sync module in our kitchen as the camera is located in our back yard to supplement our existing security from another brand that I’m not very happy with. I think I might switch over to blink with it being super easy to install. Picture quality is actually quite good for only being a 1080p sensor(see pics). Very clear during the day and pretty good night vision quality as well. Motion detection works very well so much so I have to snooze it when me or my wife are in the back yard doing stuff. You can adjust many setting in the app to suit your liking. Arm and disarm is great one press and no more notifications. I did change the video quality to higher quality and you do get a notice that battery life will shorten, which makes sense. On to the battery life which is advised as up to 2 years. Will it last 2 years? I don’t know as I just got it several days ago. But even if it only last 1 year that will be amazing with just using 2 AA batteries- crazy how technology gets better month over month. But yea, this single camera is very well priced and is very easy to set up. I definitely recommend it especially if you are not tech savvy. And care about value.

    A Solid, No-Fuss Security Sys

The Blink Outdoor 4 security camera system is a great choice if you're looking for an affordable, wireless solution to monitor your home. With a generous five-camera pack and the included Sync Module Core, it provides extensive coverage right out of the box. The biggest highlight is the convenience. Installation is a breeze, and the cameras' claim of a two-year battery life means you won't be constantly recharging them. The 1080p HD video quality is clear and sharp enough to capture important details, while the infrared night vision ensures you can see what's happening even in the dark. The cameras also feature two-way audio, so you can speak to visitors or ward off unwanted guests. While the system is easy to set up, it's worth noting that the best performance depends on the placement of the Sync Module Core, as this hub manages the camera's connection to your Wi-Fi. Many of the premium features, like person detection and cloud storage, do require an optional Blink Subscription Plan, which is a common practice for many smart home devices. Overall, the Blink Outdoor 4 offers great value for a complete, easy-to-use security system, especially if you prioritize long battery life and a simple installation process. It's a reliable and straightforward option for anyone looking for peace of mind.

What got me excited Blink is a well known brand, I’ve been looking for an extra outdoor camera, and since this system doesn’t require a subscription of any kind, sign me up! What I’m expecting I’m expecting it to be a fairly easy setup and installation. What’s included in the packaging? In the box you get the sync module, the camera, USB A to USB C cable, a AC power brick, 2 types of mounts, screws, 2 AA batteries, and a quick start guide. Let’s try it out First off I had to download the app and create an account. I don’t have any blink items, so I created one from scratch. From there the sync module is plugged in and you set it up via the app. There’s a QR code on the back of the module, so it was an easy set up. Once you crate an account and a system, now you can add the camera. It comes with 2 AA batteries which apparently will last roughly 2 years. If that’s true, that’s not bad. Once it’s set up and you verify it by testing it, now it’s time to mount it. You have two options on mounting it. You want to screw in the mount first before combining the camera and the mount. And that is that. The camera quality has three settings, and the default one looks okay, but gets a little grainy sometimes. You can opt for the best one, but you will be sacrificing battery life, so the choice is yours. The camera also has a mic so you can hear what’s going on. The app is straight forward. You can check your battery life, see network strength, the camera’s temperature. (This one I understand but don’t. What’s the temp at which it will fail?) You can adjust motion detection and sensitivity, and a few other minor options. My first impressions The camera is bulkier than I thought it would be. The quick start guide is pretty useless. All it has is a QR code that takes you to a site where it has a guide for set up. I wish it also had a QR code for the app. There are so many fake apps out there, that I wish companies would just provide a QR code for the genuine app. What stood out that was positive The fact that you don’t have to pay a subscription fee of any kind is a win! The fact that it has motion detection is also a win. The thing that I was most surprised by was how good the night vision was. In my test, the night vision sometimes looked better than the daytime quality. What stood out that was negative The mounts feel cheap and I wish they attached better. Who is this targeted at? I would say that it’s targeted at anybody who needs an outdoor camera and doesn’t want to pay a subscription fee. All in all It’s a nice little bulky camera that offers pretty decent video quality, as well as audio. The build feels solid, except for the mounts. I wish the setup were simpler, but it is what it is. So far I haven’t had any issues with it.

    Quick & Easy Setup-Requires Subscription

If you're looking for the quickest and easiest camera system to setup, the Blink Camera 4 doesn’t get much easier. Takes about 20-30 minutes in all. If you are adding to an account you already have, about 15 minutes. I do like that you can watch multiple properties by just adding Sync Modules at those locations and then syncing a camera to that module. And a single Blink Plus Subscription covers the cloud storage as long as you don’t exceed the 10 device limit between the systems. I have been using the Blink System for quite a few years now and not much has changed externally with the camera. Resolution upgrades and such, but still 2 year battery life off of 2 Energizer Lithium Batteries, which is a requirement for the cameras. I wished the mount would have changed as they are not the easiest to attach the camera to. You feel like you are going to snap the arm the entire time; even though I never actually have. If you won’t be placing these under an eve or awning, there are third-party mounts that come with a housing and way better mount that allows more directional setup than the included mount. The app is pretty straightforward on the setup. I do like that you have the ability to create just a Blink Account or can link to your Amazon Account. With the latest Sync Modules: Core (included) and Core XR, there are no USB slots for attached storage, so to use the system you have to purchase a subscription plan. If you don’t want to have to purchase a subscription plan $100 year for up to 10 devices or $30 year for one device. If you don’t want a subscription then the only option is to purchase the Sync Module 2 for $50 that has USB port for attached storage. I have been using this and when away from your home accessing the stored Clips does run a little slower than the Cloud Subscription option, but not enough that it bothers me. So far per Blink all of the newest cameras are compatible with the Sync Module 2 so you should be good for quite a few years. For one camera the first year price is cheaper just getting a Subscription and the 2 year price breaks even. Year three is where buying the Sync Module 2 and USB Storage becomes the cheaper option. If you know you are going to want more than 1 camera, then going the local storage route quickly becomes the cheaper option. I can definitely recommend the Blink system for ease of use and reliability. Adding the Solar options is great for putting cameras in places you really don’t want to have to get to again…even in 2 years (if using the recommended battery saving settings). One area the Blink system has never ventured is interior door sensors and motion sensors, so if you are wanting those specifically then you will need to look elsewhere. But there are Interior Cameras with Pan-Tilt-Zoom.

There are so many different cameras out there and all have their positives and negatives. With Blink I only found a few issues but nothing that is horrible. It was very easy to setup and mount with the supplied hardware. I opted not to hard mount as I wanted to try it out in a few places first. I tried the camera outside in my back yard, and also in my garage. At nighttime in both settings the video quality didn't look great because it was pitch black in both settings. Out of the box the camera is setup to have the inferred sensor on the lowest setting to save battery. I changed it to a higher setting and the outdoor view looks way better now, but I'm not sure how that will affect the battery life. Speaking of battery life, it uses to regular AA batteries. Which is nice for easy replacement but will probably not withstand the cold Michigan winters as well as a built in battery. When trying to view the battery life in the app, it does not give a percentage and instead just says battery life is Ok. So, I cannot even gauge what percent the camera is at to anticipate when to replace the batteries. You can buy a battery extension pack, which would double the life of the batteries, but the cost is a little on the high side. You also have to have the camera close to the built in wifi bridge or else the camera will not connect to wifi. The wifi bridge is small and easy to plug in close to the camera. Video clips only save when you have the camera on Armed, so if you want clips to record you will have to remember to arm the camera. I really don't love that since I just want the camera to record all the time and not have to remember to arm the camera. The quality of the video is pretty good and is similar to other cameras. I was able to make out faces and cars pretty clearly. License plate numbers are okay to read in day light, but at night can be harder to read if the inferred is set to low. The cameras work with Alexa out of the box but will not work with google home. I use only google home and odd that blink would only limit their usage to Alexa. There are ways to somehow get the cameras to work with google, but it's not plug and play and requires different apps. I'm sure it would be easy to figure out, but I'm not going to invest that time. Overall, the camera is nice, and I would buy more if I used Alexa, but since I'm on google home, I will probably invest into cameras that work with google home.

The blink outdoor 4 is a 1080p HD security camera that you can place almost anywhere, and is solid performer, but does require a subscription to really be able to use it as security camera. It requires two AA lithium metal batteries, which are included. They claim up to two years of battery life depending on the settings you chose. To get started you must first download the blink app and create an account. After this, setting up the camera is fairly simple, but it does require that the battery door of the camera be removed so that you can scan the QR code to add it to your network. After setup you can place this camera anywhere you want, so long as it has access to WIFI. The blink app is also user friendly. I didn't have any trouble finding the options I was looking for. This camera requires a subscription to blink's cloud service in order to record events. There is no onboard storage. You do get a 30 day free trial period to try out the Plus service. There are two blink subscription plans, basic and plus. Basic is $30/year and is good for only one camera. Plus is $100/year for unlimited blink devices and some other extra options. You can also use this camera without a plan, but it will only notify you of motion, and give you up to 5 minutes of live view. It will not record anything if it does detect motion. Also, because Amazon owns blink, it will works with Alexa. Overall it's a security camera solution that doesn't break the bank, and is easy to setup.

I recently purchased the Blink camera and it has exceeded my expectations. The setup was quick and easy, and the app makes it very simple to monitor everything in real time. The picture quality is clear both during the day and at night, and the motion detection is very reliable without being overly sensitive. I also like that the battery life is strong, so I don’t have to worry about constant charging. For the price, it’s a solid security option that gives me peace of mind and is easy to use.

I've reviewed lots of cameras over the past few years and somehow this is my first "BLINK" camera. The BLINK Outdoor 4 is an anywhere you want everywhere you need it kind of camera. By that, I mean you can pretty much place or hang it just about anywhere in or around your home or office with relative ease. Getting crisp pictures with the 1080 HD lens, with a night vision option to boot. The record time is a minimum of 5 seconds and up to 60 seconds. There's a cool down period between recordings. So, unfortunately, you may miss some vital footage upon playback. The speaker gives of clean and clear volume as long as you're not hawking your microphone from your device. There is a slight delay between speech sound from the speaker, but over-all the latency isn't too bad. I've definitely encountered worse on other camera systems. The housing of the camera is made of plastic, and this can mean that any slight nudge or heavy breeze can make it shift. So, I recommend that you consider that when you're deciding on where you'll want to place it. Mind you, you can use this camera anywhere that reaches your WiFi. With that in mind, I've decided on placing mine in my hallway. (Can we really trust maintenance?) The camera is powered by two Lithium-ion batteries that are said to be able to last up to two years. However, that does depend on the amount of traffic in front of that camera. So, it could last a couple weeks or a couple months before you'll need to recharge. Downloading the app and signing up for one of their quite affordable plans can garner you whole slew of other features. Or you can just use a thumb drive for storage. It is safe from the elements, as long as the type C cover is on. But again, I can't stress enough, that you'll want to make sure that it's in a secure location. If you need more recording time, I recommend picking up some other camera. But if you're looking convenience and an easy set-up. This should do you just fine.

Pros: easy to setup, relatively cheap, well built wireless security camera that can be linked with multiple other cameras, relatively cheap subscription for the first year, intuitive app, very quick install, can be linked with your Amazon account. Images are clear and videos as well, in the dark you can increase the infrared sensor strength to get better photos. Cons: Doesn't work with Google home, and its not mentioned clearly on the product description, the sync module doesn't have a SD card slot, if you want one you need to upgrade it and buy one that does. if you want to add multiple cameras the plan is $100/ year or you have to upgrade your sync module with one that supports SD cards. why not include one like that from the start? I installed it inside my garage as a secondary protection step against burglary, it took 1 minute to mount the bracket and 10 seconds to snap the camera in place. it was easy setup. I chose not to link the blink app to my Amazon account as I see no reason to do so. overall, its a good wireless camera but I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it didn't work with Google home.

Hello AKK1! Thank you so much for your honest and detailed review of your experience with your Blink Outdoor system. We appreciate any and all feedback as we are constantly working to improve upon our products and services for our customers to have the best experience possible. Many of your recommendations will be sent up for review. As for linking your Blink cameras to your Amazon account, the major benefit would be to take advantage of using Alexa or Fire Sticks in order to see feeds and to control your smart home. Since you are a Google Home user, that obviously would not be a tremendous benefit for you. There are some workarounds and 3rd party services that allow for that or if you get a Fire Stick, you will be able to see your feeds from your TV as well as talk through your remote control to the camera through 2 way audio. I do hope this helps give you some additional ways to get the most out of your purchase and again I thank you for your time and review. I hope you have a fantastic day! AmazonDevices

The Blink Outdoor 4 was incredibly simple to set up, and the video quality is crisp both day and night. I really appreciate the smart motion detection—it knows the difference between people and random movement. Plus, the battery life is excellent. Great value for peace of mind.

A nice, relatively simple surveillance system. It takes a few seconds from when it spots movement... To when it records. Still nice to see what/who is in your area. Simple to set up... Works quite well

Blink outdoor 4 cameras are small and powerful. Video quality is excellent as is wi-fi connection. Purchased this 3pk. with core module at a great sale price to use as add-ons to my current system that is on a sync module 2 with a $100 annual subscription with unlimited add-ons. Sync module 2 also accepts thumb drive for local storage, The sync core module with 3pk is a bonus for me for later use. The outdoor 4 cameras are also great on battery life. My original Blink set-up was nearly 1 1/2 years ago and is still operating on the original battery installation. This is a great purchase from Best Buy.

The blink camera has amazing clarity, so easy to set up and use, audio quality is great also, it records and keeps video up to 60days which you can change, you can also change how long each clip will last and it also takes a still image every hour I’m using it to be able to ck in on my mom in the nursing home anytime I feel I need to, day or night, even though I’m there to visit daily, I can see and hear what’s going on with her care, it really helps to settle any insecurities I may have and I can see and hear exactly how she’s being treated and talked to, I feel better knowing what’s going on

This is an excellent product. So far battery operation is great but we'll see how it works through the winter. It works great for what I wanted it for... camera coverage, notification of activity at the door, etc. If the battery works through the winter, I'll be happy. Otherwise I might swap it out for the wired version. It was super easy to set up.
