I like absolutely everything about this printer other than the screen that you need to see all functions that you're trying to do is way too small & very dimly lit. Hard to see!

I wish the control function box lit up when you started using it. I had to return because the multi page scan function did not work.

    Scanner Malfunctioning

I bought this for my home purpose. The scanner stopped functioning after I used scanner for 3 or 4 times. I contacted brother customer service but they keep saying that there is nothing wrong with the machine. I even had videos which shows the malfunction but I was told that I have to drive like 50 miles to take it to service center. There was no way I can send or upload the videos to brother customer support. Very upset, will not buy brother machines again.

    Comes with Free OCR software

Gave it five stars because of the software it comes with. When scanning something to work into word or text editor programs the software works great for a free includes program. Other printers like Epson say they can do OCR but make you buy a third party program for over a 100 to do it. If scanning documents to editable text is important to you I recommend any of the all in one Brother printers. This Is my Third Brother Printer. All of them are still working after thousands of pages of printing. Set up was easy, but still needed a little help from Brother. They are very friendly and offer help at no charge for life. I did not plug the right phone line in from my phone splitter during set up. I saw this when set up was done and fixed connection. Thought everything was great, but some fax machines could not receive my fax. Weird so I called brother. They told me to restart printed with no changes need to be made. I was doubtful, but did it and all is now fine. Apple AirPrint works great Toner has a good price to page cost, if you want really cheap printing generics work well in this printer Thought my 83 year old Dad and 73 how to use the software. Has a nice way to make custom scans. Nice when you need to have different scans for different size papers like letter, legal. A4 and so on. I chose this brother because I need laser, and a flatbed and auto document feeder. The only downside is that you cannot add a second paper tray for a second size paper. Normally an option on more expensive printers. You can work around this by the front paper feeder slot, make sure you open door on back and flip tabs if needed. Summery: This and all Brothers are a no brainer. You get a lot of printer for your dollar.

    Very happy with my choice

This is my second Brother all-in-one laser printer. It works great as specified except the OCR function. My laptop doesn't have a cd/dvd drive so I downloaded everything I needed on Brother's website and the setup was easy. But when I tried to install Paperport, which is required for OCR to work, using the Paperport Install Tool downloaded from Brother's website, I got the erro message "No device found". I contacted Brother's customer service and did what they told me to do but the problem has not been solved. Otherwise, I would have given it a five-star rating. I'm going to contact them one more time. Hopefully, I will figure it out.

    Fast Setup, Fast Printing

Awesome printer. Very cheap ink with tons of features. This thing will pay for itself over other brand printers. Please note, when comparing color to monochrome printers and cost per page. It is cheaper to print black and white on a monochrome printer vs. printing black and white on a color printer. Because I print color so seldom to me it is worth buying a monochrome printer and saving money since 98% of my printers are black and white.

Purchased this for some computer clients and they have been pretty happy with it but it has lost network connection a couple times. Not sure if it's the printer or a network issue. I've had good luck with Brother printers.

    Good value for the price

Great price for a laser printer. The paper feeder runs smoothly. The directions for setting up wireless could have been better, but I figured it out. No where in the book does it tell you to hit the WiFi button on the printer, but that's what you need to do before you follow the rest of the directions. The copier "lid" is a bit stiff and jerky when you open and close it. It is supposed to do 2-sided copies but I think that's going to take a visit to the website to figure out. The commands on the machine are not intuitive and the book is no help.

This is an excellent all around printer for a home office. I haven't figured out how to batch print envelops, but other than that, it works great. The only problem I have encountered is when I updated to the latest version of Windows 10 and the drivers apparently got corrupted. I called Brother support and only had to wait a few minutes. The support technician took his time and walked me through a driver uninstall and reinstall. I have contacted Brother support one or two times in the past and they have always been timely and helpful.

Smaller, lighter and way better designed than my previous computer, a Canon multi-function fax/printer. Bought it for the double-sided / duplex printing, and that works AWESOME. Works so nicely and unobtrusively that several times I have accidentally printed out like 80 pages of something I didn't want because it prints so fast and quietly. ;P

Everything seems to work as advertised. The only problem I'm experiencing is a 3-4 minute delay each time I turn on the printer before it connects to my network. Tried both WiFi and LAN, both have the delay. Contacted Brother support and they confirmed that this is normal.

I have just had it configured on my wireless network. The software on the CD in the package doesn't work. I can only install it on one machine. When installing on the second machine (all Windows 7), the software cannot find the installed printer, even if the printer prints from another machine. I solved the problem by downloading installing software (professional) from Brother site (find it from CD install window, see picture) and installed it after configure the printer with static IP on printer menu.

From the first time i plugged it in, there was an error code that would not go away and would not allow the unit to operate. Brother customer service was NO help at all in attempting to solve the problem or arrange an exchange. They are strict about warranty exchanges, making it very difficult. I had no choice by return it to Best Buy.
