This Lens is awesome and holds up to the hype. It shows a 1 to 1 Macro ratio and provides great Bokeh/background blur for up close and Portrait photos. The IS makes hand holding a breeze...I do almost all my shooting hand-held and definitely need the IS, and with this being an L lens as identified by the red ring, it becomes a must have for your camera bag and you will not regret it. I love this lens!!!! Tack sharp and IS works great! This lens can be used for more than just macro photography. I've used it for everything from landscapes to portraits. Autofocus may be a bit slower than some of the non-macro lenses with a similar focal length but using the focus limiter switch greatly helps with focus speed. If you are looking for a macro lens and shoot Canon get one.

I love this lens! Very sharp crystal clear images that when blown up gives excellent detail without losing clarity. I use this lens most of all because I can get nice macro shots as well as beautiful portrait shots. Worth every penny!

I wanted to add a macro lens to my kit and decided on the Canon 100mm f/2.8 L lens. What an outstanding lens it is! Incredibly sharp and crisp. As you will read in practically every review you see, it is an excellent choice for macro.

I've had other macro lenses in the past but nothing like this!!! The images are pristine! I can't say enough about this lens. If you want a macro....this is the BEST!

Used to do macro work and it is a great lens for this purpose the stabilizer works great also. the selectable distance worked very well also.

ive always research on a lens before I buy. This one of a kind lens is great! Pixelpeep this lens on the Internet and you'll know what I mean. Great portrait/macro lens. A must have lens for the bag. SuPer sharp!!

Its a fun Macro lens and takes sharp images on canon 6D but very slow for portraits considering its a prime and opens at 2.8. If you want to mainly use this for Macro work then its a perfect buy but anything else be prepared for focusing issues.

Received this lens as a gift and thought it would specifically be used for close-ups/macro shots. Tried it out on the Milky Way and it captured it pretty well. The images are clear and sharp. I, honestly, wasn't expecting much, but was pretty impressed. Would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a macro lens and can't afford the special 65mm macro lens.

I'm beyond impressed with this lens! It's light weigh enough not to be a pain to carry like my 70-200. It's tact sharp and has two macro options! I already have some unbelievable images. This has brought my photography to a whole new level! 100% good investment and I highly recommend it. Pro level

Fantastic! I was able to take this picture of a sundew tentacle within an hour of unboxing the lens and with 0 photography experience whatsoever.

I was about to return this lens because of the focusing. You have to make sure the “focus limiter” switch is on the right setting. Make sure it’s on the “full” setting for portraits and the smaller distance setting for the macro shots. Very sharp, great build quality and really fun to work with!!

the Canon 100mm macro is an excellent lens for macro and portraits. Very sharp. Must have your lighting correct But thats with every photo. The built is good quality. If you wanna take your photography to the next level this is your lens to get.

I can't say enough good things about this lens! I just wish I had bought it when it was in the $900 range instead of the $1400 range!

Great macro and low light lens- good for portraits as well. Very shallow depth of field at f 2.8 for macro. Auto focus a little slow up close. Image stabilizer works well

I paired this lens up along with some kenko extension tubes to get even more magnification. Because for macro addicts you just need to get closer and closer and is never enough! Its also a great lens for portraits.

Well built,solid lens. Sharp even wide open. Great for portraits and its close focusing ability is impressive. Also, gotta love the IS.

I'm new to this lens, but am just astounded with the precision and detail. I'm absolutely thrilled with it as both a macro and a portrait lens.

Ok so I was looking for a top tier Macro lens and I am not disappointed! Great lens no regrets.

As always, Best Buy had what I needed, when I needed it! I’ve always wanted a “ true” macro lens, and the EF 100 mm 2.8 L fit the bill!
