    Awesome Sub

This sub replaces an 18 yr. old M&K sub on it's last thump. Low frequency is 20hz. Hard to believe this small cube, DT, with looow tight and defined bass is a fraction of the size of a 12 in woofered M&K with the same low Hz rating. Sounds great with Wharfedale Pi10 bookshelves and NAD 326BEE intergrated amp. Using mostly for music. You cannot go wrong with this Sub.

I read a lot of reviews, but going into a MAGNOLIA demonstration room and hearing the Pro 1000 speakers (previously purchased) and the Pro Sub 800 together was all it took to purchase the Sub. Even better was the Magnolia Sound demonstration Room had my exact Yamaha amplifier. BEST BUY MAGNOLIA products are awesome. But being able to go there and HEAR the difference between products , is something that REVIEWS can't give you. But the Definitive Technology Pro Sub 800 is very well suited for 7.1 Surround Sound .

My large sub had shorted out from all the dust that collected on it while in storage. I wanted a sub in my apartment so I looked for a good, smaller, cheaper sub. And after watching the hobbit trilogy with it I would absolutly recommend it to anyone who wants solid bass for there home theater system.

This was recommended by the in-store consultant and it sounds great. To avoid drilling a hole in my entertainment system I also went with the wireless connection which allowed me to move the speaker across the room without having to run additional wires. The bass is great. The only con I would give it is when you have the base turned up the unit will slowly crawl across the floor as it vibrates. Not really a big deal as a quick push puts it back in place.

I have an old 7 channel speaker set and the subwoofer just died. The challenge that I had was to find something that fit in the limited space we had as the old one was fairly small. This unit was perfectly sized and reasonably priced so it fit my immediate requirements. Once I got it home and connected, I was just blown away. The bass is rich and deep for music and absolutely explosive for movies. Our old unit sounded ok but tended to rattle things a bit so it could sound messy at higher volumes. This new unit is just smooth and sounds amazing. I highly recommend this unit.

I needed to replace a my old definitive technology subwoofer and after reviewing on line reviews decided to stick with definitive. Even though it is at the smaller end of their subwoofers it packs more than enough base punch. Easy to set up especially with my Yamaha receivers YPAO speaker balancing feature. Really like the new side access to the output control.

My original sub shorted out that went to my Def Tech 600 set. So I researched and found this one and thought it was comparable to my old one. Works like a charm and is a bit smaller in size but more powerful than my old one. Easy to set up and use.

A note about a recent experience with Definitive. I purchased components for a 5.1 system from Best Buy a little under 3 years ago. I chose Definitive speakers because I liked the sounds compared with other brands I listened to. The pricing didn't hurt but was not my primary rationale. Since we all hear things differently I wanted speakers that sounded good to me, not based on the reviews of extreme, snobbish audiophiles. Because of the size of the room where I intended to use the system I bought the ProSub 800 for the subwoofer. All of the speakers I purchased have worked well and sound good to my ears, which again, is all that matters to me. The speakers also look nice. The reason for this review is that the ProSub 800 suddenly died last week. No sounds were being emitted. I called Definitive support to see what I could do. I spoke with a very courteous gentleman in Baltimore and in clear English I was able to discuss the issue. He asked a couple of questions and told me he knew the cause of the problem - the amp was dead. After ascertaining the version, as there has been a revision of the subwoofer since I bought mine, he asked for my address and stated he would send me a replacement amp and email me instructions to make the switch. I did not have to request a thing, no third degree, no demand for a receipt, no "I need to speak with my supervisor", not even a question about where I bought the speaker. To say that my expectations were met is untrue. I was expecting an offshore call center to tell me that it would cost more to fix the sub than to buy a new one. Massively exceeding my expectations is an understatement. That was last Monday at almost 5 PM in Baltimore, by Thursday the new amp was at my door. The switch was simple and now the subwoofer works and sounds great again. This review was the only way I could think of to thank Definitive for their excellent service. I will be buying from them again and encourage others to look at their products. Great job Definitive.

The DefTech ProSub 800 is a really good sub. Before purchasing I read the online reviews of the sub and then auditioned it at my local Magnolia store. The sub played well in the listening room and in my home. My only complaint was that it required more volume to produce the low bass that I wanted since it is a tight sub. It is a good size for small rooms. If not set correctly it will bounce across a wood floor at moderate volume as a testament to its power moving the bass diaphragm on the bottom of the sub. This powerful sub did not suit my needs but it is definitely worth a look.

I was very impressed by the output capable of this subwoofer. I am using this to compliment a set of full range stereo speakers for 50% music and 50% movies, and I was able to fill the low end voids that seemed to exist with my room's acoustics and speaker placement. I recommend something without a passive radiator if you care about super high impact explosions in movies; otherwise, this subwoofer can do just about anything you want it to do.

This subwoofer delivers outstanding sound that adds so much to the home theater experience. Although not the smallest subwoofer around, it still manages to be compact enough that it fits neatly in a corner. It doesn't take much of an increase in volume to vibrate the house. Great for everything from explosions to music. Love it!

This subwoofer provides tight loud bass across all types of music. From blues to Latin the reproduction was not booming but thumping tight and never sounded over powering. The side volume control is a great feature as well!

I needed a smaller sub for my kitchen and reviews on the DefTech Pro Sub 800 indicated it would be worth a listen. I've been impressed with it thus far. Setup was easy and the sound coming from it made me quickly realize that I had been missing a key part of the music with just two bookshelf speakers.

This subwoofer is an excellent choice for a small to medium sized room. It is attractive and doesn't take up much floor space. Bass notes are crisp, not at all muddled and can be quite booming when the volume is turned up. I particularly like the volume control knob on the side near the front, rather than in the back, which is usually placed against a wall and hard to access. There is no phase control, but it sounds very harmonious with my medium sized Boston bookshelf speakers. A great choice at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Offered smooth bass but did bounce around a bit, even at a moderate setting. Maybe I just like too much base, or maybe the surface was just too smooth, but I couldn't keep them from moving around unless setting on carpet. Otherwise great sound.
