The equipment is excellent, with a vintage build and satisfactory power. However, I have one complaint: Bestbuy's delivery time was disappointing. They promised delivery two days after purchase, but I had to wait a week. If they can't meet their promises, they shouldn't make them. I could have bought it from another site and received it sooner. I am disappointed with Bestbuy.

The Dell G15 makes for a fine and capable gaming laptop. While not a top tier rig, it's close. Especially for the money. Screen resolution is excellent with sharp clarity reminiscent of 4k Video rather than the standard 1920x1080. You can see everything so clearly when gaming. The dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card does a surprisingly good job at keeping the picture sharp, while also providing reasonable frame rates in games. An extra slot is provided should you want to increase RAM form 16 to 32GB. Boot up time is fast. Games run really well on this laptop. World Of Warcraft Ultra settings Give 25-60FPS Call of Duty averages 35FPS World of tanks 38FPS. The G15 makes a good media center laptop as well for audio and video editing. A couple of cons: It's heave! like 5lbs heavy. With that weight comes some bulk. If it was lighter, it would be a 5 star review. Takes a while to set up. It gets HOT under heavy gaming sessions. As in do not have it on your lap hot. Still hard to beat at this price point.

The Dell G15 120hz gaming laptop is an excellent choice if you are looking for a capable piece of hardware and a smooth gaming experience. You get plenty of processing and GPU power to play all the latest games in HD or higher if you use an external display. The RTX 4060 is a beast and I have had no issues playing the latest triple A games. You get plenty of RAM and a 1TB SSD to store a few games. I do recommend adding an additional storage option that is dedicated to games, however. At start up, you have to do the usual update of windows which can take a bit. Depending on your internet connection, be prepared to spend about 30-60 minutes setting everything up. Of course, downloading today’s games will take a while too. With most games being 100GB plus it takes some time to download that much data. One thing that is tough getting used to is the 1080P display. I have a 4K display for my desktop so it takes a bit to get used to. If you’re used to a 1080P display you will not notice any difference. Overall, the G15 is a great laptop. It’s very capable, well built and I think you’ll be pleased with it!

After spending a week with the Dell G15 15.6" FHD 120Hz gaming laptop, I’ve found it strikes a compelling balance between performance and affordability. Here’s my take on this mid-range contender. The G15’s design is understated yet sleek, featuring a Dark Shadow Gray chassis with a black shell that gives it a professional look, setting it apart from the more flamboyant gaming rigs. It’s refreshing to see a gaming laptop that doesn't scream "gamer" the moment you pull it out of your bag, making this model a good fit for both play and productivity. The 15.6-inch Full HD LED display with a 120Hz refresh rate is a standout feature for me. The screen delivers crisp, vibrant visuals, making gaming and video streaming a pleasure. While the lack of a touchscreen might be a downside for some, I didn’t find this to be a limitation. Performance-wise, the Intel 13th Generation Core i7-13650HX processor paired with 16GB of DDR5 RAM allows the G15 to handle everything from everyday tasks to more demanding gaming sessions. I tested it with a few high-end games such as the super popular Hell Divers 2 and was pleased with the smooth performance, even on higher settings. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card is definitely a strong point, providing excellent frame rates that leverage the 120Hz display well. There are very few scenarios where this laptop won’t provide a good gaming experience, especially if you use a gaming keyboard instead of the built in one. The 1TB SSD with its PCIe interface deserves mention too. Boot times are quick, and load times for games and large applications are significantly reduced. Having a generous amount of fast storage is crucial for gaming and professional software, and Dell doesn’t disappoint here. Connectivity options are adequate, with HDMI 2.1 output allowing for high-resolution external displays, and the inclusion of both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ensures that I stay connected whether I'm at home or a coffee shop. The headphone and microphone jacks are particularly useful for online gaming sessions or if you are using professional audio equipment. The laptop is also equipped with a 6-cell lithium-ion battery. While gaming laptops aren’t known for stellar battery life, the G15 manages to hold its own, offering enough juice to get through several hours of use on a charge—though, as expected, heavy gaming sessions will drain it much faster. The keyboard is responsive and comfortable for long typing sessions and gaming. The keys have a satisfying feel to them, though I would have preferred a bit more travel. The lighting is subtle enough to be useful without being distracting in darker environments. Finally, the built-in front-facing camera and microphone are standard fare for laptops but adequate for video calls and streaming. While I wouldn’t rely on the webcam for professional streaming, it’s sufficient for casual chats. Overall, the Dell G15 has impressed me as a solid mid-range gaming laptop that offers good value for its specifications. It handles both gaming and general productivity tasks with ease, making it a versatile choice for those who need a laptop that can do it all.

All my life, I never judged a computer by its appearance before until now. As a Microsoft Windows user, there are simply too many programs that are not available for the other platform, so I never made any switch, no matter what some friends and family member told me that they swore by them. I know Giugiaro (who famously came up with Esprit) did not design this laptop, but I could not help thinking that he may have done it. The sharp edges were his signature. For $,1200, this beast gives you an RTX 4060 which is a very powerful GPU that should be able to handle just about anything out there (and it does.) It has a lot of CUDA cores to work with many programs out that (that can take advantage of it). The speakers are loud enough that I can watch Netflix or whatever else that could be streaming with it. The beautiful high definition screen is gorgeous. They are a lot of settings which would take a while plus Windows 11 needs to download a lot of service packs so you cannot put it to work right away (just like any new computer out there – so this is not Dell's fault). Windows updates will update the BIOS too. I installed my Sream account and downloaded a couple of games (Bioshock and even an older game, System Shock II). Everything works beautifully at the highest settings (120 Hz screen refresh nicely and smoothly.) My other heavy-duty Dell is a Precision laptop which is a desktop replacement with Quadro graphic card, and this computer is faster! It is just as heavy (this is not something you would carry around all day), and although it's not made out metal, it feels like it's built like a tank. (This is not a Toughbook though.) This computer feels like a desktop replacement. Both banks of the RAM can be replaced and upgraded to 32 G if you need to. The power supply reminds me of the Precision's. Don't drop it on your foot. I also have an Alienware, this one has a smaller screen and it runs faster. I actually prefer this one because it feels so much more solid. I know Dell makes Alienware – same group of designers must have worked on this model, too. With intel i7, 16 G of RAM, RTX 4060 and 1 terabyte of hard drive, everything loads up quickly and even Window shut down procedure, takes only a few seconds. No touch screen though (who uses it?) And has plenty of connections in the back and on the side, and the exhaust fan works quietly. I left the running playing video from a streaming channel for almost six hours and it was still not having to be plugged back. I think anyone who goes off to college would be very happy with this laptop – they can work and play with it. It is a very reasonable price for what it gives you!

The Dell G15 sits right at the sweet spot of price and performance in my opinion. It's well-equipped with a 13th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, an NVIDIA RTX 4060 graphics processor with 8 gigabytes of video memory, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 terabyte Samsung solid-state hard drive. It has a 120Hz full-HD display that is bright and crisp and refreshes fast The sound is typical laptop sound, no bass to speak of but the clarity is fine and OK for a quick gaming session. The keyboard is illuminated and works well enough. The key travel is short and it is not "clicky" at all. I don't like gaming with a touchpad so I connect a wired USB mouse to play. Build quality is good for the price, all plastic but it's nice plastic. But man, this thing is heavy. And the power brick is big and heavy. These things don't bother me (and this not nearly the heaviest laptop I own) but it's something to consider. However, any decent-performing laptop I've ever used has also been battleship heavy. I also use this laptop for regular laptop-type tasks like office productivity, email, web surfing, etc. Also use it to run AutoCAD and it works great for that. Gaming performance is great for the games I play. I only play first-person shooters and since the display is 1920x1080 you can run most games at maximum settings and still have high frame rates. Like 160fps running Doom Eternal on max settings. No complaints at all, highly recommended.

It's a solid piece of gaming kit. Picked this up for my daughter, who likes to play some odd games (in my opinion) like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Stardew Valley, and The Test. She's not a heavy gamer, but she does like to play quite a bit and has really enjoyed the G15. These games certainly don't tax the G15, it barely gets warmed up as she is playing them, but it is a huge improvement over the old gaming laptop that she has been using for the last couple of years. It's built like a tank. Heavy, thick feel to it. Internal specs are good. i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, solid Nvidia graphics card, decent hard drive, not much to complain about at this price. The screen doesn't get as bright as one might like, and the colors are slightly washed out in the display, but it handled every game I threw at it with ease. The speakers get nice and loud, although they don't have a lot of low end. An additional plus is the keyboard, which I found has a nice, tactile feel to it. It's good enough that my daughter uses the G15 for both school and gaming. At it's price range, I'm not sure much can compete with the G15. It is well-built, has good specs, and other than a so-so display, is a competent performer.

This is my 4th gaming laptop, and this one is right up there with the rest I own or have owned. I do mainly game on a desktop, but I like having the mobility of a laptop. Setup was the typical create user and set up location etc. I did have to reboot once as it seemed to lock up or I was impatient... But after that it was flawless, and I got it all setup pretty quickly. This system runs relatively quiet for a gaming laptop which is always a plus. With the amount or RAM and size GPU (For a laptop) it will IMO run your games at a high quality frame rate. Obviously, the games optimization will come into play, but I've yet run into any issue with the games I have tried so far. I do mainly play Simulation and RPG type games for what it's worth. The screen is vibrant and the colors pop. The blacks aren't deep-deep in my opinion but great looking none the less. The power brick isn't overly large but somewhat big. In a nutshell, I really have no negatives about this system. It doesn't do anything spectacular... it just does what it's supposed to do, and I think you will be very happy with it.

A few years back I reviewed an Acer entry-level gaming laptop that found its way into my son's hands, and it's served him well over the last few years. It wasn't particularly expensive, it was easily upgradeable and it was very durable. As far as gaming laptops go, cost and upgradeability are key. The G15 5530 from Dell meets these requirements, while also having a very good 120Hz display, Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. The onboard 1TB SSD can be upgraded or added to via the secondary NVME port, accessible after removing only a handful of phillips-head screws. The memory is expandable up to 32GB as well. The build is exactly what you'd expect from a gaming laptop: it's a chunky device, entirely plastic, and has a good array of ports. It's been a while since I've seen a laptop with ports on the back, but sure enough, a USB-C, HDMI and USB type A port, along with the power port, adorn the back. I have mixed feelings about the placement of those ports, but they get the job done. I also would have liked to have seen a display port option here. On the left side is an ethernet port and combo audio port, and on the right two additional USB type A ports. The matte plastic material on the deck and lid of the laptop are very prone to collecting oil from your skin. It's a nice look if it's kept clean, but after a sweaty round of your favorite FPS, I'm sure it will need a good wipe-down. If you're like me and you're handing this to a teenager, it might be good to add a laptop cleaning regimen to their chore list. The backlit keyboard is largely full size (the numpad is a bit narrow) and has chiclet-style keys, outlined with red characters (like any good gaming device should have). It's perfectly sufficient, although I gather most stationary players would attach external devices to this. Speaking of external devices: I'd consider a mouse necessary as the trackpad is nothing short of atrocious. It's a bit on the small side, limited in size to some degree by the massive speaker grilles along the hinge, and it 'clicks' without clicking: the trackpad is so loose in its housing that it moves freely at the slightest touch, making it feel cheap and low quality. Responsiveness of the trackpad is fine, and I'm sure external mice are standard fare for avid gamers. The large speaker grille above the keyboard stretches from end to end, but the device itself doesn't sound particularly good. Again, I'd expect to see headsets on most gamers, but the built-in speakers are tinny and blatty starting at around 60% volume. They lack any sense of bass sound. I believe the kids these days would call them 'mid.' The overall design of the laptop seems to manage heat well, with huge exhaust ports pushing out the back and additional smaller ports out the sides. Performance as a whole is perfectly sufficient for the price point: the RTX 4060 gets the job done, but more resource intensive games would certainly benefit from a RAM upgrade. The 15" FHD 120Hz display is also a great addition for the price tag, and provides a perfectly acceptable level of performance. The price tag is $1149, which makes it a bit pricier than an 'entry level gaming laptop,' but the specs are also just a bit better than an entry level gaming laptop. Dell is a reputable brand with good warranty service, and I'd expect to see these go on sale with some frequency, making it an even better deal. Any money saved via sale prices should be put into upgrading the RAM first, then upgrading the storage. To be clear: there's nothing 'excellent' about this laptop, but I find it perfectly sufficient for the slightly-more-than-sporadic gamer. Its trackpad is downright bad, the speakers aren't much better, and the build is fine but the finish a grease magnet. I'd call it perfectly mediocre as far as ratings are concerned, but I'd still say it's worth the investment for the right buyer.

The open box laptop I received in "excellent condition" didn't work at all. Only connected to internet through ethernet cable, non functional sound system, and trackpad that had an unbearably low sensitivity. The laptop may be great! But the quality of open box laptops is too hit or miss to recommend.
