Bought as an upgrade over my old dell. This laptop is very fast and can do most daily activities...Bluetooth,Hd webcam,etc.... Only knock I have is a short battery life and no backlit keyboard. Overall a very good laptop for under $500....

Loved it until I had to use the USB ports. They would not recognize my flash drives or my mouse. Hopefully I could somehow solve it (took me way longer than what I expected and I have no idea how I did it). It is a great laptop for college, it is quick and easy to multitask on. I love the touchscreen feature and find it very convenient that the keyboard has a number pad. Long lasting battery and gets charged really quickly.

Love the design and its simplicity. The battery seems alright, I get the feeling it can go for about 8-9 hours. I either got it because its a lot lighter than my old dell laptop and new processor. Price to performance is good. Bootup time for laptop is about 6.6 seconds.

Great value at $499.99. Was fortunate enough to pick this up during the Labor Day sale, and I definitely got my money's worth. At this price you're getting some great specs that I go into more detail below. Display - One of the main features that really attracted me the most was the display. For the longest time I've always wanted a 1080p display on a laptop and this has it. The screen is nice and sharp; it provides a pleasant visual experience. Good viewing angles, nice colors. Battery - The battery isn't great, but it's not bad. It's okay. At least the power adapter is quite small and it charges the laptop fairly quickly, so I'm pretty happy about that. I wouldn't dare to use my laptop without the power adapter anyway. Not that I leave it plugged in all the time of course. CPU - The 1035G1's performance is amazing. It's fast, it handles everything I throw at it like a champ. Much faster than my outdated computers so I'm pretty content with that. Although I would've preferred if this laptop came with Intel's 11th Gen processor, I'm hoping that the 1035G1 will perform just fine in the long run. RAM - 12GB of RAM means you're getting 4 more gigs of RAM, and more RAM is always nice. 8GB is now the minimum and if you're a power user, 16GB of RAM is more ideal, so 12GB is much closer to that. Storage - 256GB is on the smaller side, but you're getting an SSD so that's the big plus. The SSD ensures for a snappy experience. This paired with the i5-1035G1 makes for an overall great machine to use. Weight and Size - Despite this laptop being 15.6", it is relatively light to carry and handle thanks to its thin form factor. I was pleasantly surprised by how thin this laptop was upon first using the demo in-store. Because of how thin and light it is, I believe the size shouldn't matter too much. It makes for a nice screen. Design and Build - I've seen some other reviewers point out that the downside to this laptop is that it's plastic, but personally it doesn't really bother me that much. In fact, I like the build of this laptop and its color scheme. Really minimalistic and simple, doesn't unnecessarily stand out. It's a simple and sleek design that's easily appreciated. Laptops feels pretty sturdy to me as long as I take good care storing and handling it, and it doesn't feel cheap. Basics and Features - No backlit keyboard or fingerprint reader, but that's fine. Both are nice but not necessary. The keyboard layout is functional and not complex. There's even a dedicated calculator button which is neat, and the power button is located in the top-right corner. Touchpad works pretty well. Overall this is a great laptop; extremely worth it on sale. Performs greatly for basic everyday tasks and browsing the internet. For this being my first Dell laptop I'm pretty impressed and content with it. Hope it holds up well for as long as I have it. If it does, maybe I'll look forward to purchasing another product by Dell.

This is an excellent laptop for the price. 256GB solid state is perfect for students and standard home users. 12GB of RAM means you don't have to worry about having too many things open or any particular application hogging resource. The screen is great quality and the battery life is excellent (normal for new laptop of course). The size of the laptop is great for those with big hands, fair eye-sight, or like to have something substantive on their lap when working. I have bought two of these now for different people, will be buying a third for a family member.

The screen, to me, looks beautiful. It's a matte finish, not glossy. No glare at all from any angle. Vivid, and the colors just look great. No bleeding of light, just simply sharp from corner to any other corner. Speakers are more than sufficient. Can it be louder, I don't know. I have definitely heard worse. It sounds really nice and clear. The speed is great. No delays. No hiccups. Everything just opens up quickly. The keys are easy to type on and they feel rather quick. The trackpad (I have never liked using a trackpad) feels great and very responsive. Lots of room on it, but plenty of room too for your hands to feel comfortable when in use. The build of the unit is, in my opinion, excellent. It looks and somewhat feels like sandstone. To me, there is zero bounce on any area of the keyboard. Simply feels solid. The hinges on the screen feel tight and stay in place without any movement when in use. And unlike other laptops, there is no flashy chrome on any of the signage on the laptop. Everything is uniform and professional looking. The unit has nice weight to it, but it does not feel as if you are trying to lift a dumbbell. The power cord seems a bit cheap, but it does subtly pop into place and stays in the slot. I do miss that part of laptops being bigger like they used to be. They just used to feel more secure. Hopefully it stays the way it feels right now for a long time to come. At the end of the day, I am not an expert, but I know my way around technology, to a degree, and I have to say that this unit simply feels great, appears to function smoothly/fluidly, I don't hear anything going on it it, and it is, again, very well built.

Lovely laptop, not so great camera and mic

It’s a lovely laptop. It’s sleek and surprisingly light for its size. The display is quite nice, colors really pop on this screen… the speed is amazing but then I’m coming from an agonizingly slow laptop so I might be biased. The only drawbacks I have are the camera quality is not the best, the audio/mic are ok not good or great but both will get you through a zoom meeting relatively ok & the size (almost 16’). I wanted 14’ or less but honestly, although this is bigger the sleek stylish design make it less obtrusive. I’m really happy with my purchase.

This is one of the lowest priced laptops for the amount of RAM that i have seen. I use it for college work and i can efficiently run multiple programs without a hiccup. It is touchscreen, very light, and has great resolution. This laptop is worth every penny spent.

I got this when it was on sale and I'm very pleased with it! I don't really do any gaming or anything like that, I just use it for emails and that sort of stuff. I've watched a few movies and like the display. I do like the touch screen for certain things but don't use it to often. All in all it serves all things that I need it for very well. I got it for about $500 and am very happy with my purchase!

I was looking for a core i5 with good RAM and this was on-sale. Dell is always a safe choice, it has great quality and good support. I prefer 14" screens, but must admit this 15.6 HD is really great and also easy to handle. The only thing I don't like is the plastic feeling, despite it is robust, I like more the 2-in-1 14" metallic one. Overall a great purchase.

This is a nice machine, even suitable as a desktop replacement. It's very fast, light weight, and the screen is large. On the down side, there is only one SSD "drive" and it's pretty small at 256GB (but external USB drives are handy and not expensive to add on). Worse, for my purposes, the headphone/microphone jack does not support a stereo microphone, but even that can be overcome using a $25 Behringer UCA202 or something like it (and maybe a port extender to compensate for the loss of a USB port -- there are only 2). I would certainly recommend it, with these minor reservations.

I needed a few laptops in short order for a few employees. This laptop had good specs for (at the time) at $519 price tag. I wanted 16GB of memory, but 12GB would suffice at this price. I immediately loaded Win10 Enterprise and ran Dell updates. The screen is crisp, the drive is fast (boots in seconds), and it handles browsing and Microsoft 365 applications quickly. It's also very quiet. During BitLocker encryption it didn't even get warm and I didn't hear the fan. It's also lightweight and has good battery life. Highly recommend.
