We bought this for my son going off to college to study computer programming. It has met his needs perfectly. It is small and portable, it handles anything he has had to do without faltering which includes Blender and other graphics apps, and touch screen is a nice feature. He is a gamer and has a big gaming laptop as well, but has discovered that many of the ridiculously fine graphics games he plays is handled on this computer as well. So, yes, I'm sure he is getting lots of studying done.

So i bought this laptop because of the price and weight and durability for all the things I do. I'm fairly technical and can say that I am happy with my purchase. I had to buy an extra usb port extender so that I can have more than 2 usb ports available. I typically run my wireless mouse/keyboard, and external hard drive and also have a need to print all at the same time. They screen is nice but I really wish I could change the resolution so that is is sized for my failing eyesight. Instead, I usually use this laptop with an HDMI cable/monitor. battery is great, although I did already experience an odd occurence when the laptop would not turn on. After some research, the fix was to re-seat the battery. the only thing is, its not so easy to get to the battery(4 -6 screws are needed to remove the back plate to get at the battery)

Intuitive. Love the touch screen. Keyboard is easy to use, the mouse pad doesnt register false mouse movement (like others I have used). Nice feature to fold the screen completely back and use as a tablet, keyboard is easy to use in tablet mode. Set was very easy and SSD makes the startup so fast. Love the battery saving options, system automatically suspends when not in uses, at times one charge lasts me over a week.

It's a good laptop at all, but never recommend you 2 in 1 for this model , because it doesn't have magnet at its back when 2 sides stick together while using the tablet mode. The fan is extremely noisy when it starts working, it is often off though.Sometimes the power button doesn't work when you want to turn on the device.

I go to school for Computer Science and needed a good laptop with some power behind it for running multiple applications. I had a previous i7 laptop that I was running into some problems with the device and some of the software I was trying to install. I didn't want to spend the money I spent on my last laptop and needed a replacement quick. I needed something compact, strong and affordable. I looked at a couple devices. My best buy did not have the 13 inch in stock, they had the other ones and had the 13 inch on display but with the lower processor and ram. I looked at a few other brands but was hesitant to go with them. I had to order and wait for it to come in the mail. Set up was fast not to much bloat wear on the device. I cleared it all made a recovery USB drive and went on to install my programs that were not working on my other laptop. The setup was crazy simple and the applications and software installed super fast. Everything has been running super smooth,. I instantly fell in love with this thing. Even the keys didn't bother me too much. I am normally not a fan of this style of keys but it just works. The only problem I m having is the left arrow key/home key gets stuck inside of it and I have to use my nail to get it unstuck. I've overlooked this, I didn't see returning it for that. it was more of a design flaw i feel. The screen looks great super easy to clean.
The battery life is pretty great it lasts for classes. THe weight is great, I carry my laptop all day every day to classes.
Fan noise is an issue but not a huge one. Fan noise comes with thinner laptops however it does come on even when there is not heavy usage of it. THere are times when one tab is open, nothing else and the fan is kicking.
THe one big issue I have is the placement of the power key. I do not understand why they put it on the bottom right side. Every time I go to grab my laptop, move it to the left I hit the power button and it puts my computer to sleep. I can barely nudge it and it shuts down then it's hard to get it to wake up. This is really a big annoyance. I hope they rethink it along with the volume keys.
I recommend this laptop to any college student, student or teacher, I just love this laptop to bits. Don't forget to use your student discount!!!!

I do a lot of professional presentations, and having a variety of connections for projectors is important. Full-size HDMI seems to be on the way out, but this computer has it as well as USB C, so it'll be compatible for quite a while. VGA is out, but an adapter is very affordable. Nice and light weight for travel, good amount of RAM, and comfortable typing.
I'm basing this review on the replacement Dell, as the first one I bought was defective. Best Buy performed a diagnostic check and provided a new device, no further questions asked. Definitely a great computer, as long as you don't get a dud!

This Dell laptop-tablet has met and surpassed all my educational needs. This is an excellent value Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 laptop with a 13.3-inch touch screen that allows you to use it like a smart tablet device as well. Its portable light weight, slim design and quiet performance were major deciding purchase factors. The awesome intel Core i7 processor and its 12GB of RAM perform flawlessly. Its 256GB solid-state drive makes it a breeze to access my PC files super fast and smoothly. I bought a Dell stylus pen separately which I just love as the cherry on top. Very happy with this Dell's features and price point.

Great laptop, light fast and screen is very nice. I purchased the dell active pen and it works very well for pressure sensitive drawing. Like the tablet mode for drawing. The laptop is very fast with the i7, ssd drive and 12 gb of memory. If you are looking for a 13 inch laptop this one is very nice especially for the price.

I have all the functionality and connectivity of a laptop, along with the lightweight and function of the touchscreen tablet. Has worked flawlessly. As a non-techie at 63 years old, I do feel I should have had full setup support from Geek Squad with this kind of purchase without being charged extra.

Little more than I wanted to spend but all in all pretty good little computer. Still a few things I haven't been able to figure out yet, like how I'm supposed to be able to charge the laptop through the USB-C port(manufacturer website) took a long time to figure out that the touch screen was Synaptics and NOT N-trig or Wacom. Touch screen is more responsive with "wintab" installed and on... But messes up some art apps, so being able to toggle wintab is a must. Other than that is preforms well and with Bios upgrade 1.09 can handle 32 gigs of ram... *thumb*

Man, this computer. We have a love hate thing going on with it. It went off to school with my daughter and it’s been giving us almost constant trouble. We are on our second one, thanks to a warranty replacement. The hard drive died on the first one and it was immediately replaced. Computer #2 worked fine for about 6 weeks and then it had to be sent off for a new battery. Again, service was great but being without it for a week was a problem. Now, it’s back and the fan is making noises. I don’t know if it’s because it’s loaded with so many features or what, but it really isn’t living up to the Dell reputation. If she didn’t like it so much, I’d replace it with something else.

Super fast, long battery life. It's so much better than I expected. The only thing I struggle with is the HD size, but thats on me.
I would recommend this for anyone. I use it with Adobe Creative Suite and it is still fast.
