Q: what kind of stylus is compatible with this device?
A: A Bamboo Ink stylus works just fine (I bought one with my laptop). With the new 7000 series, Dell went back to using a MPP (Microsoft Pen Protocol). So, the laptop works with MPP-based styluses. The Bamboo ink stylus is preset by default for the Wacom AES protocol, but pressing and holding both side buttons on the stylus for 2 seconds switches it to MPP.
Q: How long is the battery life?
A: It has a 3-cell lithium ion battery, so like 5-8 hours
Q: Will the Microsoft pen work with this?
A: Yes, the Surface Pen does actually work with this model. Tried it myself.
Q: Is the display 3:2 on the Inspiron?
A: This screen has a 1.77:1 aspect resolution.
Q: Is the laptop's fan loud or not?
A: I've only had this laptop for about two weeks, but I watched a movie and did some studying/coursework and the fan didn't come up once! When I first received it the fan did go on for a couple of seconds but it wasn't loud - haven't heard it since. Hope this helps :)
Q: Is Windows Ink pre-installed or does it need be purchased separately?
A: Windows Ink is already installed, it's built into Windows 10. A pen/stylus is not included with this laptop however and will need to be purchased separately.
Q: Is there a place for an ethernet cable?
A: No there is not
