I bought two of these on sale, one for myself and one for my wife (we tried the 'iPad replacing a laptop' experiment, which failed). For the price we paid ($679 a piece), these machines are excellent. I'd give 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars if Best Buy would let me do so. This is not the Dell Inspiron of yesteryear; the build quality is noticeably good and it has a premium feel and appearance to it. The Good - The keyboard is so nice to type on. Just beware that the key travel is short (I personally like this). Having a backlit keyboard is a requirement nowadays for me, too. - The display is crisp and bright (not sure why others are complaining about screen brightness). - Blazingly fast overall for daily use and normal computing tasks. - Considering where we are with laptops nowadays, a good array of I/O ports. I still use a DSLR, so the SD card reader on the side of the machine is extremely convenient. - Two ways to charge: USB-C power delivery, or the traditional "barrel" plug. - The fingerprint reader, combined with Windows Hello, is really nice to have. Super convenient. - Storage (via m.2 SSD) and RAM (up to 16GB) are both upgradeable, which will help extend the life of this machine post-purchase. - Compatibility with Windows Ink active styli (haven't gotten one yet, but I imagine it works well). The Okay - Battery life is not terrible, but nothing to write home about. - The fan is not a jet engine by any means but is noticeable when doing heavier computing tasks. - Why is the bottom bezel of the screen so large? - No full size number keypad. While it'd be convenient, it's something I can get around no problem. The Bad - The built in speakers and audio out via the headphone jack leave something to be desired. I'm not expecting a professional A/V system out of a laptop, but it's lacking here. (I also recommend uninstalling the MaxxAudio software this machine comes with. It makes everything sound overprocessed.) - Typical pre-built machine bloatware, half of which is useless, the other half of which is redundant. This is easily fixed of course, but it just grinds my gears that we still have to deal with this in 2019.

I liked everything about this laptop/tablet except for the Intel processor was slow & dissatisfied with the graphics card & video RAM which didn't perform up to par for me when multi-tasking with Adobe Photoshop, 4 Tabbed web pages opened in Windows 10 Edge Browser & watching a You Tube Photoshop tutorial. This overloaded the system & caused some excessive heat under the laptop. I also felt the sound quality was like a poor "Mickey Mouse" sound coming from the downward pointing stereo speakers. Also the battery life was disappointing - this 2 in 1 needed a 6-cell battery. Otherwise the 4K UHD touchscreen colors were awesome for both graphics, photos & Video streams. There was much confusion about whether the Wacom Bamboo Ink Stylus (sold separately) was compatible with this model Dell laptop. It ended up working fine for Windows 10 Inking abilities after downloading the current drivers from Wacom.com.

We hate to read the Inspiron hasn't met your standards and experiencing situations such as excessive heating. We like to offer you assistance:

      Please download the BIOS update:
      1. Restart the system and press F12 when the Dell Splash logo appears to display the One Time Boot Menu.
      2.  Using arrow keys, select USB Storage Device and press Return
      3. The system will boot to a Diag C:\> prompt
      4. Run the file by typing the full filename e.g. O9010A12.exe and hit Return
      5. The BIOS Update Utility will load, follow the instructions on the screen.

We encourage you - at your convenience - to call our tech support at 1 (800) 999-3355 and thanks for your review.

      Best,

Deserve 5 stars but fingerprint had troubleshooting first days, wasn't working at all, I had to call my Best Buy Geek Squad and they fix it. Over all the laptop run fast, I can work with different programs in same time without problem, Touchscreen works great, in general nice futures. To me price match with the product.

Still getting to know this laptop computer each day that we use it. Even though I had Best Buy come to the house to install, I still had to take it in to store to have data transferred from the old laptop to this device. Sound did not work and I called BB and they said they would have someone call me back, but that never happened. I instead had a relative come over and figure out how to get the sound to come on. The new Dell has a great clear screen picture and processes at a better speed than the old unit. I like to use the touch screen on occasion so it is a nice feature. We bought this particular model as it was a 2018 model and on a good sale price. We bought the Total Tech Support and that wiped out the savings so hope it was worth it.

I purchased this laptop because the old one I had was extremely wore out and very old. This laptop is so much fun to use and very fast. The touch screen is just an added touch along with the Touch ID.

Bought this for my daughter since she just started high school. Has a nice 15.6 inch 1080 resolution touch screen. Only wish the bezel was smaller on the bottom of the screen as the sides and top are very small which is nice. Solid state HD makes this load everything pretty fast and a little quieter than a mechanical drive. The fan can get a little loud but you get used to it fast. My daughter's favorite part is the compatibility with an active stylus. She is an artist and loves folding the keyboard under so it looks like a tablet and drawing directly on the screen. This is in no way a gaming laptop but you can still play games on it such as Minecraft when turning the settings down for better performance. I would recommend this product for any activity and also for just casual gaming.

I5 Intel Processor - Check 8 GB Ram - Check 256 GB SSD Drive - Check 15.6” Screen - Check Many, many ports available as well. This is one fine laptop. I had my doubts buying a Dell, but this machine has been a solid performer. It’s been about a month since I’ve purchased this laptop, and everything appears good to go. It’s not the top of the line laptop, but for my applications, there is no difference between this PC and an I7 processor with 16 GB Ram except for a few hundred dollars remaining in my pocket. In 5 to 7 years, it may be outdated, but it won’t be vintage. I would recommend this 2 in 1 laptop.

I needed a computer for retirement. My daughter had bought a Dell laptop for use in her Masters program, and she highly recommended it. I spent a lot of time with tech salesmen asking millions of questions. Not a gamer, I use it mostly for email, social media, finances, and web browsing. My current ipad mini is very slow and frustrating when it just closes in the middle of whatever I'm doing. I wanted something quick to start up and with relatively user-intuitive programs. This computer has fit the bill...it starts up within seconds and so far I have been able to get where I need to go and do what I need to do.

I was really excited to upgrading my MacBook, but when I walked into the Best Buy the sales associate talk me into a Dell since I wasn’t really doing sound engineering. The Dell laptop is as sleek as the MacBook completely touch screen and I love the tablet option it’s gives. I haven’t had any issue from it and everything is always easy to download or figure out .

This same laptop costs about 3x as much on Dell's website - with a slower processor, smaller screen, half as much RAM, and half as large a Hard Drive and it's not even solid state or touchscreen. Am I missing something? Get this before it's gone. Then get another 8GB RAM for cheap and you have a GREAT office/personal laptop at an incredible price.

This laptop is absolutely amazing. Super easy to use, quick speed, and is great for work or personal use. I use it for work and downloaded all the software needed with ease. The touchscreen/tablet aspect is nice as well if you are using on the go. Very light weight for a 15.6 in laptop so easy to store and move.

Bought this laptop while it was on Clearance. I use it mainly for surfing the web, email and Office applications. I love the tablet mode and the screen and resolution are great for watching Netfilx and other videos. The only Con I have is the Dell Support that was pre-loaded. At first the functionality was great and then I had an issue with the program updating the drivers and whatnot. I will say when I called Dell Support directly, they were very good about helping me to update the needed files. I guess there was a issue with 2 files needing to be updated, some drivers and the BIOS, and the tech said "they were hanging up when we tried to update both at the same time." Things ran fine for awhile but now I'm getting an Unexpected Error when I try to run the Dell Support program. But this is an issue with a program, not the actual laptop. So if they still offer this model and you need it for the web, email, watching videos and you want a 2-n-1 laptop, I couldn't be happier with the speed, video resolution, etc.

Touchscreen is what put this one on the top of my list. Add to that the fact that it can fold down to become a tablet- WOW! And the screen orients both horizontally & Vertically! Speed is good, memory is good, hard drive sufficient, and it’s fairly lightweight. Yep, it’s a keeper!
