Customers recognize the Inspiron 17.3" laptop's large screen size, good performance, and ease of use as significant advantages. Many appreciate the touchscreen functionality and ample RAM for multitasking. However, some find the laptop heavy and the limited number of USB ports inconvenient. A slow hard drive and the power button placement were also cited as potential drawbacks.

The laptop is amazing! It works like it's used to, the videocard is quite okay for games. (Warframe runs fluently for example). What i dislike is that when you put it on tabletmode and you put it on your lap, that the keys stick out so everything can come inside the keys, what will mess up your keyboard probably... the advantage is that you can use it as a stand to in tablet mode, so i'm reallyyy happy in general with this product. You can dream of a laptop with this capabilities for this price in my opinion

I purchased this laptop because I do video editing and need more processor speed and ram than I had. With the I7 chip and 12 gb ram I can do multi camera editing no problem. The 1 tb installed hard drive is slow thus the 4 stars. I added a Samsung 500 gb SSD in the extra slot provided in the laptop and cloned drive C: to it using Samsung software. Now it is much faster. I use the old 1TB HHD for media storage. I like the large 17.3 inch screen for time line editing, easier on my eyes. The power switch is in a very bad location lower right corner so if you move the unit on your lap it is easy to turn off. Overall I like the Laptop, but with out adding the SSD it was so slow booting and loading programs I was disappointed with it. You have to spend an extra $100 to get the loading and booting speed I like.
Pros: Large screen, Speed now with Samsung SSD, Fast I7 processor and ram
Cons: Power switch placement, very slow HHD , Spent Extra money for SSD

Power packed desktop replacement

This is a stunningly beautiful and power packed versatile laptop that can easily replace your desktop PC. Its solid-feeling hinges and overall polished and tight-fitting design puts Dell in a whole new category. I set out to purchase a traditional laptop in the $400 - $600 price range and was instantly attracted to this feature rich unit. The closer for me was the $845 sale price and I used the savings to load it up with MS Office Home and Student. While I did go over what I set out to spend, I feel that the specs for this 2 in 1 (laptop/tablet), for how I use it, will easily get me through the next five years. My only complaints are that it only has two USB ports but nothing a USB hub can't fix. For this reason I purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse combo for when I choose to use it as a desktop PC replacement. I also wish it had a DVD/CD reader/writer but most laptops don't come with one anymore. Granted, I would rarely use it anyway but it would have been convenient to have it for playing my old DVDs/CDs and burning discs for my old truck's CD player. An inexpensive external USB powered unit would do the trick. Given the size of this machine, while completely portable with decent battery life, I wouldn't make it a routine to travel with it. The occasional room to room or home to office or buddy's house should be fine. The speakers are ok but as with most laptops, the sound is relatively flat. Hooking up any USB or wall outlet powered speakers will produce much better sound. Tablet mode works nicely but its sheer size and weight make it a bit unwieldy to hold comfortably for long periods, unless you're a very strong big-handed person. Truthfully, this unit is overkill for how it's mainly used in our household but it's great to have the power and features to tackle multiple tasks, online and offline, without slowing it down. Gamers especially would appreciate the graphics card with separate RAM.

I bought this at the store on sale. Great machine for the price. 1 drawback is there is no optical drive, and limited USB (1x2.0, 1x3.0, 1x C-type). However, I already have an external BD/DVD-rw drive, and purchased a ChillPad with USB ports, so this isn't a problem for me. Upon looking into the technical details, it lists only an Nvidia 940 MX, but in fact also has an Intel HD 520 graphics adapter. The 1TB HDD and 12Gb DDR4 RAM make this a powerhouse for a "non-gaming" laptop. As this is a "non-gaming" geared laptop, I was highly surprised to see that it ran great, and smooth when I tried to play WoW on it. The graphics are running on Medium-High settings, and runs smooth, with no video lag. It has dedicated 2Gb GDDR5 RAM.
The 6th-gen Intel Core i7 acts like a quad-core processor. Needless to say, this PC is capable of anything you throw at it, without being a gaming rig.
The touch-screen is very responsive and has a 10-point touch capacity, which allows you to type onscreen as if it were a traditional keyboard without having to wait for each letter to appear (like most phone touchscreens do).
The touchpad mouse is also a multitouch capacitve surface allowing the same controls as the touchscreen itself. It supports up to at least 5-finger gestures, although most will only use 3 at most.
This is definitely not an Alienware, but it does a comparable job for 1/3 the price. Definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for a new machine on a budget. I will soon be purchasing a second one for my wife, if the sale holds out for 2 more weeks.
A little about me: I was born and raised around computers. My first setup was a Commodore VIC-20 and a Commodore64. I love technology, and I love to have the best. I am sad that at present I cant afford the Alienware rig that I want, customized with the best top technologies at this time, but this will definitely suffice until I can. I am a truck driver driving over the road and spend little time at home. This is definitely a great machine to have to allow me to do everything from entertainment (movies, games, etc), keeping track of my business income/expenses, to keeping in touch with family via Skype.

I'd been looking for a couple of weeks and I came across this beast of a machine. I was wary of carrying such a large laptop that was over 3 inches bigger than my last one but it's perfect. lightweight, fast, and stunning graphics. Memory is never an issue and I can do multitasking with streaming, spreadsheet work, and downloads with no impact. You'll enjoy it.

My older all in one (Vista OS) suddenly died so I needed replacement rather than repair. Decided to switch to a laptop. Price was okay but had a 10% coupon which made it better. I've only used it at home thus far where I have it connected to a 27 inch screen which works well for me. I have not traveled with it yet. it is a larger 17 inch screen laptop and a bit heavier. My only complaint is that I didn't pay attention to how many ports it has. It has one HDMI which I use to connect to the monitor. It's got one USB 2, one USB 3, and one USB C port. I'd rather have more. Currently using a 3 port Ethernet hub into the USB C port and full size Bluetooth keyboard and mouse into the USB 2 port. I keep the computer closed, using the larger monitor, so can't comment on the laptop screen. Performance is as expected. Meets my needs.

Love, love, love this new laptop! Perfect for my games, college work and watching movies. I7 is amazing. Graphics rock. It is a bit heavier than the norm, but it's a trade off for the screen size.

I love this laptop. It looks great and has excellent performance. Pros: Its sleek, thin, lightweight, great battery life, large hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX is quick, and does not come with all the bloatware of yesteryear. Runs Adobe Creative Suite with no issues with multiple apps open.
The machine itself is rather large and barely fits in my 17 in" Dell bag, it did not fit in a Swiss 17 in' backpack. No optical disc drive, which is becoming more common nowadays. An external can be purchased for around $25-30 online.

It is behaving just as it should - good speed, easy to install apps. Flip to a tablet is a great feature. It is a big laptop, but still easy to flip and run with your finger.

I purchased this as a desktop substitute, knowing that the large screen would make it relatively heavy and not easily mobile. But for taking it around the house and in car trips (not flights - too heavy for that), it isn't a big deal at all. The images are beautiful and I love being able to swipe. The start-up is much slower than I expected. The facial image recognition doesn't often work after being in sleep mode, but that isn't a big deal.

Overall a good laptop. Has an attractive appearance. Feels relatively light weight and doesn't get too hot in my lap. Battery last a decent amount of time( somewhere in the 4-6 hour range). Windows is a bit slow booting up which I'm guessing is due to the type of hard drive. Touch screen works well, and it has a crisp display. Would recommend buying for people that like big screen computers.

I was not sure if I wanted a laptop or a tablet--so I got the best of both! With a wide screen that makes viewing a pleasure. I can now work from the sofa or my desk--and I have to say that the graphics and sound are exceptional. Not once have I locked up! And with the free Webroot I have not had a single virus or malware problem. I'm a happy camper--if you buy this you will be too.

After months of extending the life of my old laptop, I couldn't make it keep up with my family's increasing demands. I was researching computers throughout this time, ready to purchase if I saw a good deal on one that was up to the task. After extensive research and the laptop completely dying, I had compiled my must haves...a large screen, a flexible laptop/tablet, higher processing capabilities. This 17 inch laptop-tablet-A frame fit everything and was on sale...time to pull the trigger on my purchase, especially with 12 months SAC through Best Buy. This treasure has turned dreaded computer work to something we are looking for reasons to use. I'm able to run several screens at once, something I had a need for . The only thing we wanted that this does not have is a built in disc drive (yes, we are dinosaur lovers - I know this is rare, in modern computers). We have been even more pleased with this purchase than we anticipated!

From now on, I'm buying Dell

I had an HP Envy for just over a year when it died completely. Of course, the warranty was out by that time and there wasn't anything I could do - I also did not purchase the extended warranty because I expected it to last more than a year. My previous machine was a Dell - I had it for over 5 years - so I decided to go back. I really like this machine. It does what I need it to do - it's slim, lightweight, fast, has a super long battery. I'm a writer, so I type A LOT and the keyboard is comfortable - much better than the HP. I do wish it had more than two USB ports and I'm not a super fan of the touchscreen. Otherwise, I have no other complaints. I also purchased the extended warranty, though I expect I won't have to use it.

Powerful laptop that doesn't struggle to run multiple graphic programs at one time such as Autocad. The only thing I would change about it is the power button location. It is on the side and I have accidentally went into sleep mode by pushing it. It isn't a big deal however I think it would be better with the power button on top above the keyboard.

This was purchased for the hubby. He needed a new computer and wanted a laptop that had a large touch screen. He also wanted the keyboard back-lit. He got those and so much MORE! The sound system is good and the graphics are amazing. He is not that computer savvy, so there are many more features that he is not even using or probably aware of. For everything he needs and wanted this is a lovely laptop. We compared it to a comparable HP but decided to take the Dell. We've always had great luck with Dell compared to HP computers.

The machine is very thin and light.
I miss the biometric locks, greater number of USB ports and internal DVR drives my older machines had. I also have no use for a touch screen. I am now wondering if I wouldn't have been happier with a lower priced, slightly bulkier machine. This was pricey for a Windows machine.
