This May End Up Replacing Our Gas Weber

Since this is a kitchen appliance for the most part, and not really in my domain, the following review is by my wife, Mrs pillboy: I find it enjoyable to use this versatile appliance. We may never need or want to use our gas grill again. We’ve made boneless chicken breasts, hamburgers, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes, hash browns and eggs this past week. La mia pizza era eccellente! Our favorite was homemade pizza. We prefer a crispy bottom crust and achieved just that, in the very first attempt! This appliance is not ideal for making eggs, however it can be done if you "herd" the eggs with a spatula - the eggs want to flow towards the grease tray at the back of the grill until they solidify. This grill would be great for entertaining small gatherings or perhaps daily use for larger families. It fits nicely on our smooth-top range, under the exhaust fan. We found this location ideal, especially when cooking meat. In the future we may use it on the porch both for space and venting. I recommend the brief De'Longhi videos found under “From the Manufacturer” for informative overviews of several aspects of the appliance. I wish I had watched them prior to using the grill. Pros: No assembly required Contemporary styling Sturdy construction Informative display Simple to use Easy to clean Even surface temperature On screen timer (its use is optional) Multi-functional - Closed Grill, Broiler Mode or Open Grill Ability to adjust plates to different temperatures and change temperatures during cooking if desired Underside temperature of the appliance is not hot (countertops are unaffected) Cons: Waffle plates are not included - they may be purchased separately Price seems a bit high Eggs want to travel to the grease tray Other Observations: Cord length of 32 inches may require an extension cord in some settings Heats to 450° F in 4 1/2 minutes The variable temperature control dials include the following Fahrenheit temperatures: 140°, 175° 215°, 250°, 270°, 285°, 300°, 320°, 340°, 355°, 375°, 400°, 410°, 430°, 450° The sear function increases the temperature to 464° F for one minute and cannot be used again within a 30 minute period, even if the appliance is turned off then on again Default setting is Fahrenheit - Celsius setting is also included if desired

    Looks Great, Cooks Even Better

Design: De'Longhi did a fantastic job designing this Livenza grill. It looks great in our kitchen! Although it is relatively large, I do not mind leaving it out on the kitchen counter because of the sleek and modern design. I appreciate that the oil drip cup slides under the grill in the back, so it is not visible. In addition, the buttons and heat control knobs are easy to use, and the illuminated display is easy to read. Versatility: The De'Longhi Livenza is the most versatile grill I have used. Many of my favorite meals can be cooked on the Livenza thanks to the swappable grill plates. For example, I like how I can make pancakes in the morning then grill burgers for dinner. Cleaning the grill plates is a breeze because of the non-stick surfaces, and they are dishwasher safe. Effectiveness: The cooking surface seems to evenly distribute heat, so food gets cooked the same no matter where it is placed. Once I learned about the features and became comfortable using the Livenza grill, I was able to cook my desired meals efficiently and effectively. The dedicated mobile app has been very helpful since it recommends what grill plate to use, what temperature setting is best, and how long to cook the food. I suggest downloading it! Verdict: Because of the design, versatility, and effectiveness, I now prefer the De'Longhi Livenza grill over any other cooking appliance in my kitchen. I can say with confidence that I would recommend this Livenza to anyone looking for an indoor grill!

Solid Kitchen grill - year round use!

You could say I’m sort of a meat guy, which is why I was excited to have an opportunity to try out the new DeLonghi – Livenza All-Day Electric Grill! Not just because I live in Minnesota where the winter nights are so cold your nose freezes together, but because I can continue my grilling year round! In short, I was impressed the ease of use, quickness of grilling and ultimately the taste of my food after cookig on this grill – but there are some shortcomings. Read on for more… The grill arrived in a sturdy box, well packed and HEAVY. It should be heavy – it’s a solid kitchen appliance with multiple grilling plates – mine came with flat plates for things like pancakes and grill plates for meat. Yum. Interchanging the plates is relatively easy – just have to figure it out once and your good to go. I was hoping to receive some waffle plates too – but that wasn’t in my unit bundle. There really wasn’t much setup. I removed and washed the grill surfaces, placed them back in and fired it up! I didn’t know if the grill would smoke a lot, so I placed it right on the stove top underneath my woefully inadequate microwave/exhaust hood system. My exhaust system vents directly outside – so that’s a plus if your using an electric grill inside the kitchen. You can see from the pictures, it does produce some BBQ smoke when you are grilling for sure. It wasn’t bad in the house though – but I’ll be sure to place it there again when I use it. See picture. Each plate has its own temperature setting. For grilling most meat (steak, hamburger, pork, chicken) the guide tells you to set each plate at 450 degrees F – the max setting. Let the plates warm up (it tells you when they are ready) and put your food on allowing both the upper and lower plates to contact the food. BONUS – your food is done in roughly ½ the time since you’re cooking both surfaces at once – no need to flip! You set the temperature by adjusting the two large control knobs on the front and reference the LED readout for the setting. The unit features an adjustable hinge on the upper plate so you don’t squish your panini’s bread, etc. There are a few down sides to the grill though – let’s go through those: Size – it’s both a blessing and a curse. You can open the grill up and lay it flat – using both side like a normal outside grill – so you get more cooking area. You could set one side as a grill and the other as a griddle. Clever indeed! The problem is storing it. The grill itself it large, and when you have extra cooking plates with it – they need to be stored too. Keep this in mind when purchasing it. See picture. The power cord is pretty short. I could see another 3-4 feet needed for many applications. The note in the box is a bit disturbing: “California Proposition 65 – This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.” Really? The coating on the plates? I don’t like it. Overall – this is a solid, heavy, well-built and full-featured kitchen grill that will see occasional use around the home. I would suggest checking out the competition and sales before purchasing but if you do select this model I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

DeLonghi - Livenza All-Day Electric Grill - Black/Polished chrome This grill is pretty cool, I used the famous boxer grills in the past and never really liked them, seemed they were clunky and the grease drip pan was awkward and problematic. Plus they were not easily cleanable as the units really didn't come apart. As for the DeLonghi - Livenza All-Day Electric Grill, we have an integrated center grease drip pan, removable cooking plates which are easily cleanable and interchangeable with other pairs of cooking plates for flat grilling purposed, standard ridged plates and a waffle plate (not included with my model). In any case I put this unit to use for the first time with two New York strip steaks, they cooked perfectly and the grill marks were picturesque, like they came from a fancy restaurant. The steaks cooked quickly and evenly in a mode where the top grill plate sits on top of the food, this setting is also adjustable for other types of food either where you want to put some pressure (like a Panini) or an option to sit above the food without the top plate making contact (think something like shrimp or tender fish where you don't want to necessarily want to put pressure on food or make contact). Very interested on how this grill handles boneless chicken breasts, thick cut pork chops and kabobs. The temperature controls are pretty straightforward (one each for the top and bottom grill plates) with digital readouts and a sear mode which intensely grills your food. Should also do an excellent job cooking brats, Italian sausage or Polish Kielbasa. You can probably get innovative and grill some veggies on the non stick surfaces of the unit. Overall this unit is well built, the heat from the grill plates is well insulated from the rest of the unit, so you don't have to worry about other exterior surfaces of the unit heating up. I used the unit outside on my deck and quickly cleaned up after, that process is simple and painless. Only thing that I could really complain about was the waffle grills were not included in this model. Also the cord is a little short, so you better be close to an outlet.

    Great indoor grill

The DeLonghi Livenza Grill is a great choice if you are looking for an indoor grill. The grill plates are interchangeable and it includes searing plates and a set of griddle plates. The plates are non-stick and clean fairly easily. I have cooked chicken breasts and some burgers and have been very pleased with the performance. The dials rotate to adjust the temperature in Fahrenheit. For me, the plastic dials don’t turn smoothly and feel slightly cheap on what otherwise looks to be a high end appliance. The grill displays on screen what temperature each side is set to and if the plates have reached optimal operating temperature. I like how the hinge opens up allowing you to cook on two independently temperature controlled surfaces. You can even have different plates on each side to further expand the cooking versatility. The plates are heavy duty and maintain temperature during cooking. A trade off is the plates take much longer to cool relative to other electric grills I have owned. There is a timer feature as well, though I tend to use Alexa or a timer on my phone to keep track of cooking time. DeLonghi also offers a companion app that can be referenced to determine temperature, plates, and cook time; though it isn't required to operate. The size of the grill is a strength and a negative in the same stroke. I like having the surface area to cook multiple chicken breasts, but the large size also makes the unit bulky and heavy. Aesthetically, it is nice enough to be left out from time to time, but I would prefer to have an item like this stored in the cabinet which is difficult to do due to size. Overall, I am happy with the unit and recommend the Livenza to someone who wants a versatile, high performing indoor grill.

I have been using a popular and well-known brand of electric grill for many years and enjoy the convenience of it. I viewed this DeLonghi as a significant upgrade, as I can now set a specific temperature with the digital display, giving me more freedom on my dinner preparations. Since getting this grill I have cooked chicken and burgers. Both turned out great and cooked thoroughly and evenly. Clean-up was very simple as well. The plates are dishwasher safe and a tool is provided to scrape them. I was pleased with the size of this device, as I was able to cook all of our dinner at once due to plenty of surface area on the grill. I haven't tried pancakes yet but look forward to making them on the griddle plate! I love this thing and recommend it to others for their indoor grilling needs.

Wow, Just wow. This grill have exceed all expectations when it first arrived at my house. The grill is going to be perfect for the summer days when you don't want to bring out the large outdoor grill and the food taste fantastic! The friends love how easy it is to use and work. First off this thing is well constructed every inch of this Delongi Livenza grill is premium. full stop. I have never used anything so premium! The handles are strong and no part of this electric grill is flimsy, All of this is steel just brings the product to life. The front panel is chrome with two strong knobs that independently cook each side of the girl. There is a sear function that works perfectly with each cook in my experience. There is a timer on the grill itself so no need to break out a spare timer. The display on the Delonghi is bright and fully readable. There are 2 die-cast plates and both are dishwasher safe. The plates are strong enough to last for years and years to come. comes with an oil drip cup and cleaning tools so it comes with all the things you need. The food taste heavily, my first meal with this Livenza grill was jerk chicken with roasted potatoes and grill carrots and it was so delightful. The app also is helpful as you can pick various sizes and cuts of meat to show you how to cook it properly with the grill. I have to say Delonghi went all out with this home grill. I would happily recommend this to friends and family especially those with an apartment or a smaller living space. You can never get old of the grill taste of food and this grill accomplish that for us.

Awesome grill and griddle in one

I really enjoyed using this grill. It has so many features that I used this to replace my old griddle. How I used it so far For breakfast I used the flat plates and opened the hinge so that I could cook pancakes (see photo). I was able to easily fit 3 pancakes (1/4 cup batter) on each plate. Both plates were set to 300°F and the griddle signaled when each plate reached the desired temperature. I noticed that the pancakes cooked at the same rate, no matter where it was located on either plate. For dinner, I used the grill plates to make steak fajitas. I set the grill to 450°F and cooked both sides at once, with the lid closed, in under 6 minutes. The steak was expertly well done, with picture-perfect sear marks. The grill did steam quite a bit, so I would recommend cooking under a vented hood or open space. We also plan to purchase the sold-separately waffle plates, although due to the design we wouldn’t be able to make the traditional flipped Belgian waffle. App DeLonghi has a very nice app that gives ideas for the proper settings and cook times for many different kinds of foods. There are even recipes and preparation instructions, but I noticed the INGREDIENTS tab only has the picture of the food with a cook time and serving size. I assume DeLonghi plans to update the app soon to include the actual ingredients. Cleanup The drip pan did a great job of catching the dripping from both plates. The plates were very easy to wash, since the plates have a Teflon coating. I did notice some splatter on the controls, but it was easily wiped off with a damp washcloth. To summarize, I highly recommend this grill. It cooks evenly, is easy to clean up, and is very versatile. Really the only con I can think of is that the waffle plates weren’t included on this model and that they aren’t Belgian waffles.

    Great Grill for Small Enclosures

The DeLonghi - Livenza All-Day Electric Grill is mpressive, both visually and functionally. After using it to cook multiple meals, I can see how this can quickly replace many of my pans and even my stove top. To begin with, the electric grill feels like it's worth its cost. Every thing about it's construction feels sturdy. It comes with the flat pan-like panels installed which is ideal for eggs, tortillas, and other things you'd normally make in pans. I swapped those out to test the grill panels, which are included. There is a third option of panels to make waffles, but those do not come with this unit and are sold separately. There is a recommended free phone app that is a companion to the unit. It is not necessary but in an effort to test everything touted about the unit, I downloaded it. It's mainly suggestions to set a timer for the various foods you can cook with the grill. I followed those suggestion and made the following: 2 sirloin 3 inch thick hamburger patties and 1 sausage link (5 inches); 1 frozen chicken breast and 1 sausage link (5 inches). The first time I made the burgers, the meat was done as expected. I set the timer exactly as it was suggested in the app, 6 minutes for two patties. The meals cook quicker because both, the top and bottom panels heat up independently. The instructions on the app said: Set temperature on both panels to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Push the seat button and wait for a beep. Temperature will remain at 450 for the duration of the timer. Because I added a sausage link, my meat needed an extra minute and a half, but it was well done all around and inside. The chicken breast was also thoroughly cooked and from a frozen state. If you plan on using this daily (perfect for college students), then cleaning can easily be done with the included grease scraping tool and a napkin. Eventually, however, the panels will need cleaning. A simple press of a button makes the panels removable and you can hand wash them over a sink. A great feature of this grill is that the top panel can lie completely horizontal to the table, doubling up your cooking space and simulating a stove top. My reason for deducting one star is as follows: the top of the grill has an option to make paninis. A gentle push from the bottom of the top panel unlocks part of the top lid so that it swings and doesn't press down on sandwiches so as to not make them super flat. That feature is a little to sensitive and in my use, the lid turned into the panini mode without me wanting to. I tried finding something on the unit to make it more secure, but I couldn't find anything. It's not a big issue for what is otherwise a great product, as it fixes itself upon closing of the panels to cook.

My biggest fear was eased when I figured that I was going to get a tabletop grill that was going to heat my food unevenly or worst not heat correctly. Meaning, that if I wanted to sear my steaks it would more than sear or undercook which could cause problems. Rest assured, that accomplished my goals and more. The grill comes with three different plates and I can't wait to play with he panini plate. This time I made sirloin medallions and some golden potatoes. The steak was awesome but that might be because of my great seasoning and brining technique also! Props to me! I love that it also has an application you can download on your phone so that if you need recipes or help you can access them there quickly. Overall an amazing gift and if mom or dad are in the market for something new, this would be a great addition to any house hold. Don't be intimidated, just cook like you would normally! Next on my list of things to try is to cook all of a breakfast one the flat plate. That looks so cool on the recipe book it comes with.

Our gas grill just went out recently, so I'm thrilled to try out this electric grill. It has nice design, it looks elegant. Super easy to set up and operate, and clean up is a breeze. The only downside when grilling steak with bone in, due to different height of the cut, some parts of the meat will be burned more.

Pros Plenty of grilling space Includes flat and griddle cooking surfaces Can make waffles with optional accessory Versatile Easy to read digital screen Includes timer function Easy dishwasher cleanup Top and bottom cook surfaces are controlled separately Includes companion app Premium appearance Cons Actual temperature does not match set temperature Heating is very uneven Dials didn’t feel smooth for such an expensive product Steep slope on for drippings causes items such as eggs to run Drip tray removal is in back Massive size limits kitchen placement in normal kitchens Only includes temperature settings and no Low/Medium/High High amp draw might require using a separate circuit The Delonghi Livenza is a very large multipurpose grill. The grill surfaces have an integrated heating element. The claim is by offering direct heating of the cooking surface you get even distribution of heat. With the included flat grill and griddle and optional waffle plates you have the option to cook nearly anything without the need of a stove or oven. In fact, the Livenza can even serve as an open broiler. A timer and sear function are also included to round out the package. There are only temperature settings and no options for Low, Medium, and High so some knowledge of cooking temperatures or using the companion app are recommended. Cleanup should be easy since the plates are dishwasher safe and the drip tray catches everything else. The front display has a slight angle meaning food will likely need to be cleaned off the front but the task is not difficult. Strangely, the drip tray must be removed via a back slot. With such a large grill, a side or front removal of the tray would be preferred. If you intend to purchase the Livenza, keep in mind this is a very large grill. You could be forgiven for mistaking this for a commercial grade restaurant grill it is that large. It looks and feels the part in every way. It feels very sturdy as if it was intended for frequent use. Digging deeper into the grill, the commercial type nature continues where each heating surface is controlled separately and a bright, easy to read display shows the set temperature of each heating surface. Unfortunately, the temperature set cannot be trusted but more on that later. The knobs feel sturdy except that turning them feels rough, almost as if there is sand stuck behind the knob. This takes away from the premium feel a bit. After continued use the rough feeling lessoned. One can only hope this is because they are tight from the factory for extended use and require a breaking in period. Carrying on with the more commercial theme, with this grill open you have as much surface area as most residential cooktops except nearly all is useable. When cooking large amounts of greasy food, such as bacon, enough bacon grease is vaporized where you may want to consider using it under your vent hoot if you don’t have tall ceilings. Because of the size of the grill, if you intend to use both surfaces at the same time while having another appliance running, such as a small toaster oven, you will need more than a 15-amp circuit. Probably the boldest claim is that the Livenza solves the largest problem every cooking surface or grill and that’s uneven heat. Unfortunately, during testing it could not live up to this claim. Temperatures were verified with a thermal gun to very as much as 80 degrees Fahrenheit from one area of the plate to another. This can the difference between overly runny eggs and dry eggs. Not only are surface temperatures inconsistent, they are regularly higher than set. When the temperature was set to 400 degrees, a check with a thermal fun verified temps of 436-448. A setting of 350 yielded 398 degrees. This does not prevent the Livenza from being a competent cooking tool, only less than accurate or consistent. If you are in the market for a very large multipurpose grill for larger meals and value a sturdy build quality and commercial look this grill may be for you. Just be ready for temperature inconsistencies.

Just recently received this grill and the email request for a review was upon me before I really had time to use it. Therefore, I have only prepared a couple of things with it using the grill plates only. First, although it was packed very well in its box by the manufacturer and there was no apparent damage on shipping, there was some kind of abrasion on the right side hinge, looking straight on at it, that was there when I opened it. This is a very sleek-looking, solid piece of equipment that has a non-skid surface on the bottom which creates great stability for cooking. I used it to Grill/BBQ in the total open position that required use of the most counter surface. I wish the electric cord for the plugin was longer because when grilling, it must be placed on a counter surface that does not have any overhead cabinets from a safety and grease standpoint. In my kitchen that would either be on a peninsula that does not have a plugin close enough without using an extension cord or my island which does. So, the length of the cord limits where I can use my electric grill. Cooking and the ability to control time and temperature were great. One of the things I prepared was marinated chicken breasts. The owner's manual suggested putting some oil on the grates and I did that with peanut oil; knowing that other type oils could also be used. At any rate, the meat never stuck to the grill plates and the clean up in this instance was easy. I had also cooked hot dogs and did not use any oil on the plates as they secret liquids as they cook and sticking was not an issue. I see that there is a cookbook app that can be used, but because I wanted to get this review in now, I will admit that I did not have time to access and use it. When I went to the Google App Store, I put the name of this product in the search bar and it is there. This is what it says: "In accordance with the type and the quantity of food you want to cook, the app suggests the best plate position, temperature and cooking time settings. Incredibly easy to use, the app helps you to manage the most delicate stages of cooking, giving you precise instructions and tips for perfect results every time. It also features a handy recipe book filled with a host of delicious new dishes to try" There were 5 app reviews giving it a rating of 2.8 out of 5. However, I have not used the app yet so I cannot personally comment on it.

This is one of the rare times I buy something with NO downside. Being able to set a precise temperature to cook with is a game changer. I wish I had gotten the one with the Waffle griddles included as well, suggestion to future buyers. This appliance does just about everything, fry eggs, make grilled cheese sandwiches, awesome pancakes, grill steaks, seafood, and hamburgers. All with out scorching, burning, unless you want a well done steak, or overcooking. Not having to guess what the cooking temperature is makes a huge difference with everything you cook. It also works in many different configurations. Full flat grill, grill & griddle, griddle press, grill press, grill & griddle press, full flat griddle. This appliance does it all perfectly. Clean up is a breeze, you can put the cooking surfaces in the dishwasher, if you really want to, however, everything is real easy to clean in the sink. Because all the cooking surfaces are non stick, I recommend sink clean up because dishwasher chemicals tend to wear the cooking surfaces over time. Least that has been my experience with all other non stick products, so I clean them in the sink. Just don't do like I did and order the one with out the waffle plates, I will be ordering those from DeLongi. Final thought, this truly is an ALL DAY use appliance, I never put mine away, that would be tragic! It is extremely well built, tough, and fully capable of handling breakfast, lunch, and dinner, most of the time I just wipe off the plates and wash them at the end of the day.

I am in the state of exuberance. After going through several indoor grills, finally, I've discovered the one which can fulfill my needs for the gourmet cooking to the fullest potential. It has separate heating elements integrated into the plates. Temperatures can be controlled by separate dials before or during the grilling. Digital display of every aspect of operation. Easily disassembled for cleaning. And, aesthetically speaking, a visual masterpiece.

Each plate is heated individually to the desired temperature which can be changed at any given moment by simply turning the dials. Digital display of all functions. Alerts. Easy disassembled for cleaning And aesthetically speaking, a visual masterpiece! Will get an undivided attention from everyone. The brand name, DeLonghi, is very well known for it's high quality appliances. This grill is in full harmony with my cappuccino and coffee grinder machines by the same company.

Unlike any other appliance that I've ever bought, I use this daily, many days twice a day. Works great a a grill, as a griddle, makes great toast in a minute or less! Expect some smoke when grilling steaks, etc. But well worth dealing with the smoke! Heats up quickly, easy to clean. Comes with 2 grill plates and 2 griddle plates. Waffle plates also available. More expensive than many other similar items, but well worth it!

I’ve used a panini grill several years, really liked it. Decided to get better control and options, and this one beats all my expectations. Works better than I hoped. Having control of top and bottom individually makes all difference and imbedded heat elements are amazing.

As summer months approached, I was envious of friends and their full-size outdoor grills. My space doesn’t really permit one of those- but I still wanted the ability to cook that way. Cue the DeLonghi All Day Grill. Super easy to use, and you’d never know the food was cooked on an electric grill! The “sear” feature is my favorite, creating the caramelized grill marks I missed from an outdoor model. Additionally, you have the functionality for a large griddle for breakfast, toasted sandwiches, the possibilities are endless. Highly recommended!

I was undecided whether to buy a gas or electrical grill, since I love steaks but I usually cook just for my self, so I was looking for a small grill. But I found this Delonghi Electrical grill, and I love it. The size is perfect for the steaks I want to cook, it is very easy to operate, it is almost intuitive, you can control de temperature individually of each side, and there is a reason for that, and is that you can widely open both sides and use both of them as a flat grill and not as a contact grill, which is an awesome idea!! The unit is well constructed, with self-adjusting hinges. It includes 2 types of plates. Included are 1 set of the grill plates and is set of the griddle plates. It also comes with the oil drip cup and a cleaning tool. Another feature I have found really eficient is that the heating element is embedded in the plates, so it heat up the plates very even and I could not find any issues about hot or cold spots. The heat distribute better and that also means energy saver. The plates can be removed and clean individually, another brilliant idea, and the clean is pretty easy. The digital display makes it look really cool, and easy to understand the operation. There is a setting that allows you to change the temperature from farenheit to celsius. These are the dimensions: 18 x 14 x 7.5 inches. The two cooking areas are both: 15 x 9 inches. Finally, another very important detail, is the appearance, the stainless steel finish make it looks wonderful on my kitchen counter.
