I've owned 4 Onkyo receivers over the last 15 years. Before purchasing this Denon I purchased the Onkyo TX-NR6100 and it was by far the worst ever. I played with it adjusting everything to make it come close sounding to my last Onkyo. It sounded so bland and powerless. I do 5.2.2 set up and even with 2 subs it made John Wick sound like an episode of Mr Rogers Neighborhood. Normally the bass would rumble to the neighbors house and now it would barely come through. I decided to start from scratch, rewire, and do setup again. Same thing and gave up after a week of frustration. After a ton of research (which is very hard to come by, recommend Forums versus online reviews as they don't seem to legit) I was between this Denon and a Yamaha and ended up going with the Denon AVR-X1700H it had less watts than the Onkyo and previous Onkyos I had but it seemed like the safest bet as far as future proofing for the next 4 or 5 years. Highly recommend, very easy (although primitive) set up screen. Great and accurate Audyssey set up, I barely had to adjust settings. Now for the same test John Wick. Night and day for sure, my Atmos speakers worked better than ever, bullet casings falling every where around me, the subs were on point as well.

I'm not too tech savvy and first time adding an AVR to my TV. So far, it gives everything I need, and user manual was fairly easy to follow. Synched the remote to TV remote, added bluetooth to stream music from my phone. Good power to the stereo speakers. I also had to call Denon's customer service to walk me through some things, and it was pretty quick to get to an agent, and they were very helpful.

Receiver works and sounds great. Lots of customization settings to make it work for you. Good product. When turned up would rattle my windows with no measurable distortion. Definitely recommend.

I liked this receiver quite a bit. The sound quality was very good for both music and home theater and the price, for what it gives you, was very good. Had I not had a problem in selecting the stereo mode to listen to music, I would have kept it. The problem was, if I selected the "Stereo" mode to listen to music, it would only play through my left and right speakers and not my subwoofer. According to the user manual, it should play both left and right speakers as well as subwoofers when the stereo mode is selected. I tried to figure it out myself and called Denon technical support for assistance also. They felt as though the unit was defective and told me to return it. after that experience, I decided not to buy the same model again and I'm now in the process of looking for a new av receiver from a different company.

Hello, sorry to learn the receiver was returned. This is possible to have the subwoofer active while in stereo mode. 2.1. The subwoofer will always be active, with the front speakers set to small. With the front speakers set to Large, the Bass must be set to LFE + MAIN for the subwoofer to be active in stereo. We hope that you give us another chance in the near future. https://support.denon.com/ denon

Easy to setup, easy to use (IF you use the app) and sounds great. Perfect for a middle ground AVR. I use it to drive a 5.1 setup and a Zone 2/B. Allows different sources and the phone app makes management of the receiver super simple. Pass through of 4k at 120Hz is supported and works great, so it will support the latest consoles connecting to a quality display without issue. Much better than the Sony I had previously and as good as the Onkyo and Yamaha I had before that. I only ding it for ease of use because without the APP, good luck.

It appears to be better than other amps at this price range. The set-up was somewhat simple. However, with an older TV with limited HDMI ports, it was with a lot experimenting. The set up needs to be performed through the TV. Downloding the pdf Manuel was beneficial. I was told that with a newer TV the set-up would have easier. I was concerned about the 80w per channel, since my older amp was producing 120w per channel. No noticable difference with that issue. The division of surround sound channels are much better than the older amp. Overall, I'm pleased with the ease of operations of the amp and remote. Sound quality is excellent and you can't beat the price! It's a DENON!

I bought this Denon AVR to replace old 20 year surround sound receiver. Boy what a difference. This AVR was easy to setup and now have it setup for 7.1 and sounds great. I got it on sale at Best Buy and I am very happy with my purchase.

Best Best Buy purchase I’ve made in several years. I had made up my mind that I was going to get the one that was 850 bucks, then the kid that was working talked me into getting the one that was over $1000… But another one came in and said you don’t need all that, this is exactly what you need… $669. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about in this receiver, streams my Apple Music, Spotify music, Amazon prime music and all the rest. I went out and bought the kid a gift certificate for dinner I was so impressed with his honesty. He was right, this is everything you need to have amazing theater sound as The best hub for all of your music. Could not be more impressed. The loyalty BEST BUY just bought from me it’s nothing short of thrilling.

Certainly! Here’s a 100-word review for a system speaker delivers impressive sound quality. The bass is surprisingly deep, and it maintains clarity even at higher volumes. Overall, this speaker is a fantastic choice for those seeking quality soun.

Fantastic value and wow, this AVR brought my speakers to life! This unit supports all modern HDMI 2.1 features including Dolby Vision and eArc. Had to buy the $20 app but this is expected and allowed me to setup the Audyssey EQ perfectly. Only drawback is Denon's CEC functionality is terrible. CEC never works and when it does, it stops soon after and results in eArc loops and loss of video signal. I simply had to turn CEC off which is a shame. My old Onkyo's dating back some 20 years never had any problems with CEC. This would be a hands down 5 star purchase if Denon can fix their broken CEC functionality.

The bomb, get this great price great sound. Love the Audessey setup and it comes with a cardboard stand to put the mic on. Was always a Yamaha fan for over 20 years, but you could only get Dolby Atmos and Virtualization if you pay alot more. With this AVR you get it all. Thanks Denon.

Before purchasing this Denon receiver, I've always bought Yamaha. I've had Yamaha receivers for the past 20 years. But my Yamaha wasn't working properly and for my setup, the Denon seemed to be the best fit, so I gave it a chance. So far I'm very pleased and would recommend this receiver.
