    A Surprise Gem

A friend of mine raved about this game. Given the high score, I gave it a try. The game started out pretty slow. But things got interesting and the pacing picked up as you progress further into the story. Being a fan of Digimon helped me enjoy the game even more. This is your normal turn-based RPG that has collection elements found in Pokemon. However, the difference is in the story. Digimon has, historically, been about the store, the characters, and the relationships between Digimons and their owners. The gameplay mechanic is solid and simple. There is nothing complex is easy to pick up. Some of the skills do require a bit of memorizing. And it helps to keep track of your skills and knowing what the class type and their elemental types are. As for the audio, this may throw off new players. Voice dialog are entirely in Japanese. However, it is translated in the dialog text that's displayed when those scenes come up. Personally, I do not mind that. The script writing that came from the translation could have been better but for the time being, this is good enough. The visuals and graphics are all anime styled, rendered in a 3D world. There is no fancy realism graphics. So the whole game feels like you're playing through an anime. If you fancy the more realistic visuals, this game is likely not for you (thus you should be looking at Final Fantasy or Elder Scrolls instead). My only complaint is that the camera is locked. There is no camera rotation to see the environment fully. You can zoom in and out to a certain extent. But still, you're stuck facing a certain direction. It makes navigating around a bit frustrating. But eventually you'll get used to it. Overall, this is an excellent game and a surprise gem. I personally do not like writing up reviews before I finish the game. I prefer playing through as much as possible, to get a feel as to how the game plays, the visuals, mechanics, audio, and so forth. With 46 game hours logged and on Chapter 9 at the time of writing, I felt that was enough time to truly experience the game. This may very well be an actual game that I did not mind paying full price for. And I don't like paying full price for a console game these days.

This game does justice for Digimon!

In 2011, Joymax brought Digimon Masters Online to the world Globally while maintaining its Korean home. It had been years since Digimon games were made far in-between titles and GDMO was the only game that was constant because it was online and was constantly being updated. After a petition had gone out ~2012 to get Re:Digitize, the Japanese re-dux of Digitize into a 3DS title, the creators of the games had apparently relented and localized Cyber Sleuth, a vita title from 2015. It is a step away from the DGMN: World series and is it's own title. In the little time I was able to play with it in my busy schedule, I am extremely happy with it. The nostalgia for the 1990-2000 fans is astounding to play with friends we haven't seen in many years on television. The turn base system is easy for newcomers to video games and to the series itself. The fact that this was a handheld title that was ported to a system, there are obvious thoughts of "Is this really a PS4 game?" - yes, it is and it should be. The story is great. The gameplay is amazing. I have very few gripes about the game being the lazy translation and the wide range of abbreviation/stats one has to keep note of. Otherwise, it is an amazing game and I am extremely happy to see Digimon again. It is fresh change from the same ol': Pokemon, CoD, Halo, etc. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. A+. Bandai's twitter is the best way to contact them with any sort of information!

This game does justice for Digimon!

The game is like a mixture of persona and pokemon if you have an interest in either one of those games or just JRPGs in general you will be pleasantly surprised by this game, though it is obviously just an up-scaled vita game that does not detract from how fun the game is, collecting digimon and digivolving them is addicting and fun. The game is one of the best JRPGs in a long time. It is also a long game so if you are worried about not having enough bang for your buck than you'll be happy to hear that it is around 35-80 hours long depending how deep you get into catching, raising, and digivolving along with the many side content and multiplayer matches available. Best part is you do not need to know anything about the digimon franchise to get into the game since the game is it's own self contained story unrelated to the show and it surprisingly has a very good story, so if you are interested in the game I say try it out.

I'm loving this game. The monsters are way cool looking and the gameplay is exactly what I love. Turn based rpg combat. So far the story is interesting. It has a little hiccup here and there with translation from Japanese.

I preordered this game so I could get the bonus DLC which I do not think is possible to purchase separately. Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth takes place in Tokyo, and you are the protaganist and you get to pick a digimon partner. This is different than previous Digimon Games, like Digimon World, because instead of focusing on one digimon and making it super boss, you battle 3 on 3 style, and have up to 8 diigmon in the back that you can switch out. It's kind of easy, but it has over 200 different digimon in it, and the story is good, and the gameplay is fun. I've put about 120 hours into the game.

It has been so long since I have played a digimon game. Last one i played was probably digimon world. This game was everything i wanted to experience since I was a young child. The gameplay is like Shin Megami Tensei / Persona. You get your digimon, level them up, then digivolve them (fuse them if necessary). You move around the world just like in persona. You choose a destination then explore the city. The story seems to lean towards being a detective but it picks up to being digimon again after some point. Also couldn't wait to get Wargreymon. Yep Yep

My summary sentence really summarizes this game. It's alot like a slightly less kiddie-esque (in terms of art style) version of Pokemon. The vast number of sheer quantity of Digimon to collect is insane. Graphics are pleasant and colorful to look at however it's not exactly a AAA game designed specifically for the PS4. Gameplay is fun with alot of depth. RPG mechanic works. Story is interesting. If you're someone that grew up watching the old Digimon show, then this is a must buy.

If you have been a digimon fan since you were a kid like me, then you will love this game. It has all the original and newer digimon, you can digivolve them easily to there mega levels, and even dna digivolve. The game is however in Japanese but it does have subtitles. Overall, this game is great for fans or those who never heard of digimon.

Haven't played Digimon in years, but coming back and playing this game was great. Great story plus the graphics are awesome. Glad they brought back the classic 3v3 turn base battle system back. I recommend this game to any digimon or non digimon fan.

Both the Persona games and Cyber Sleuth have many similarities. The design of the characters and the battle system of Cyber Sleuth both have the look of a Persona game. If you enjoyed Persona and like Digimon, you'll love this game. Though most of the enjoyment depends on how much you know about digimon.

This is a good game. Would be better if you didn't have to read the whole time. All the talking is foreign and you have to read the whole time to know what's going on. But overall the battle system is good. Isn't really too challenging. Cool when you start evolving and what not.

Being how the developer's knew full and well that all the OG Digimon Fan Boy's & Girl's are all Grown Adults now, but still Die Hard Fans, including every single generation, every single possible digivolution, & every single movie villain as well as something to capture and raise for yourself as if it were a Dungeon Crawler, RPG, & Pokémon Title. I honestly fell in love with the game for going over the top and bringing this game to the U.S. FINALLY!!!! & I hope the next one for digimon's 20th Year Anniversary hits the state's as well. Because from the looks of the new Digmon World game it looks like Ni No Kuni meets Godzilla mets Tales Of Arts Fighting Style, but still keeping things fresh, A+

First, for those that preordered and didn't get a code(yet), with a quick google search I was able to find a post from someone that contacted support and was told that Best Buy ran out of codes and were in the process of obtaining more form Bandai Namco. I received mine today (Feb 5). With that aside, this is a great game, especially for Digimon fans. It's like the Digimon game we've been waiting for. The gameplay reminds me a lot of Digimon World DS. I would recommend this for any Digimon fan and those that enjoyed Digimon World DS
