12 hours into game-play, pretty simplistic in nature. The story has been a breeze as the spells and characters are pretty strong from the beginning. Learning curve for strategy is also pretty basic. It is fun but repetitive. I don't think this chapter in the story will bring any new fans on board but it is a good title on what i would consider a very limited catalog for PS4. I would rather have seen a new Dragon Quest game come to the PS4 and hopefully this port will help push the developers in that direction. There has been hints of challenges and bosses, so there might be value once the story mode is complete. There is an online bonus this weekend also, so Square Enix community has tie in also. I would recommend for those that like casual game and fun cheeky environment that Dragon Quest fans have come to love. But if you are looking for a series difficult challenge stick with Bloodbourne.

This game is a terribly fun and cute game. For long time DQ fans, you will have a huge smile. The combat and graphics are great. I love the British voice acting as well. If you're a Hyrule Warriors fan, this is for you. The one item that keeps this from being a 5 star game is a lack of co op or multiplayer. Couch co op would have put this game over the top. If the Wii U can do it with Hyrule, this game could have. Heck I would have paid for 2 copies if it could have at least done multi player to play with my kids. We had a blast years ago on the DS playing DQ9

Dragon Quest Heroes is a fantastic offering from Square Enix and Koei. The hack & slash gameplay is even more polished than Hyrule Warriors, the voice acting is well done, and the presentation gives a deep story. Highly recommended to all Dragon Quest fans

As long as you have realistic expectations for this game you should enjoy it. The art is absolutely beautiful and the game plays smooth. It does get repetitive fairly quickly but it is nice to finally get a small portion of Dragon Quest love in NA. If you have access to a Wii U I would highly recommend hyrule warriors instead. That being said, this game is far from a bust. I do enjoy the art and voice acting, the character design is also well thought out and enjoyable.

This game is really fun and challenging enough to not be just a button masher. Execute specific combos to maximize your attack before time runs out. Increase your tension meter for invincibility. Collect monster coins to summon minions to guard against attacks from opposite sides of the battlefield, and/or turn them in to get recipes or ingredients for crafting. Able to be played casually or for long sessions. Combos and controls are easy to execute and remember, or change settings to have the game perform for you. Skill trees allow for versatility and variation upon replay, and can have points reallocated. Voice acting is fun and entertaining, and not overpowerring or annoying.

The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is very fun. I'm not into Dynasty Warriors games but this one had me curios so I decided to give it a chance and I'm loving it more than I thought I would. The game is about killing hordes of monsters using various attacks. There are some light rpg elements mixed in as well as using monsters to help you fight which I'm enjoying. My only complaint about the game is that it's rather easy and I not sure if there is a difficulty option which would have made it more challenging but aside from that I love it. If you don't like Dynasty Warrior games but have been curios about them or just want a hack and slash game then I recommend you buy this game.

So when I started I didn't have high hopes because it didn't play like a regular RPG but it really grew on me. I think I understand why Dragon Age is a major thing in Japan. The characters are done by the same person who created Dragon Ball and they look it. Anyway it is fun give it a shot!

This game is action packed and has plenty for anyone who appreciate rpg. Has similar style with hyrule Warriors with monster mass yet more unique and better arrangements of weapons as characters. Overall I recommend this to everyone. Dragon quest haven't lost their passion yet

This game is like dynasty warriors but in a Dragon Quest setting. It has music, characters and sound effects from the series. Fun game that doesn't require a big investment per play. Downside though is the menus/interface are as clunky as a dragon quest game.

Good game,challenging gameplay.Ive played about 10 hours so far and have found this story to be engaging and the gameplay has kept it going for me.A lot of the fights through mechanics alone constantly keep you engaged to the game.

Enjoyed the game but even in the harder mode it played way too easy. Story is well enough and side quests were plenty and very enjoyable. Battles were sometimes decently long but always too easy. Probably just laying story mode you could get 40 hours. Another 40 with all the side stuff.

This game is a good hack and slash with awesome graphics and soundtrack. It takes around 23 hours to beat the story. There are times when it can be repetitive and grindy, but overall satisfied with the way it presents the action. Recommended for newcomers and fans of the series.

Knowing the fact that the same developers from Hyrule Warriors made this game, I had realistic expectations. While I wouldn't consider myself a Dragon Quest fan, they did well to honor the most iconic enemies and appearances Dragon Quest fans will undoubtedly love. At the end of it all, I have the same feeling I have about Hyrule Warriors. If you're a fan of the IP this game draws upon, you need not be so apprehensive: it's fun, it's competently developed in all departments, and will make you smile from time-to-time. Just be wary of extreme repetition, a small roster, framerate stutters, and a cumbersome menu interface. I give Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Yada Yada Yada... an 8/10.

First new Dragon Quest game in USA for quite a while. The game is not old school Dragon Quest in play style but the game hosts some of the best characters from the series. The graphics are great and story is fun. Recommended for old or new players of the Dragon Quest series.

I've loved Dragon Quest since I was a kid. Anything Dragon Quest I'll consider buying. This is a fun new addition to the series with a lot of action. The english voices are super European, not American, keeping with Dragon Quest tradition which makes this entry feel even more like it deserves to carry the Dragon Quest name.

Dragon Quest Heroes is an excellent game and one of the biggest surprises of the year in gaming. I'm pretty sure by now you played a "musou" game (Dynasty Warriors) or some of the several spin-off. Why is this game different? Well sometimes these games are as good as the enemies... This game works better than most of the previous ones because Dragon Quest’s monsters are not only charming and funny but they fit perfectly in an action/RPG game. You don’t get tired of them (like it happens in other “musou” games). Let me tell you the best parts of this game: 1)Length: I’ve been playing the story mode for 30 hours and I’m not done yet. 2)The awesome CGI sequences in the story mode bring previous heroes of the Dragon Quest world together but it doesn’t force you to play previous titles to understand the story. 3)Awesome RPG gameplay with great action controls. 4)Hours & Hours of story mode, secondary missions, weapons, items and warriors to unlock and level up. I tell you is not like I was expecting the game to be bad but I didn’t expect the game to be this good and this fun to play! 100% recommended!

I have played Dragon Warrior games since I was a little kid. I have recently been playing some Dragon Quest games that were released as apps on my iPad with new features and different quests bringing freshness to the older games. When I got a new Playstation 4 for Christmas and saw this game was available, I wanted to get it. Haven't had a whole lot of time to play it yet, but what I have played I have liked. The characters story lines can be a little annoying, but the game play is fun. Doing all the combo hits and combo multi-button magic spells are really fun. Looking forward to having more time to play it and unlock some of the stronger features of the characters. It's cool to see all the original enemies from the different Dragon Warrior/Quest games that were made over the years in hi-def graphics.

Square and koei techmo have paired up nicely to give a new twist to dragon quest. It has the dragon quest sounds, loveable monsters and classic art style. With the twist of dynasty warriors levels and controls. I honestly felt it was going to be strange at first. But, once I played it, I knew I made the right choice.

Beign the game a mosou i had low expectations regarding the story, but is well integranted with the formula. Its fun to play with different characters of the saga well implemented mechanics and all, great game for the fans!
