The device itself might be so good alone, but once combined is not good enough as they require special wireing to work

Horrible... and I mean Horrible. We tried installing the 1st one... yes 1st one and it burned up as it was trying to do the setup, smoke came out of the top and everything. We took it back and Best Buy replaced it. Had an electrician try the second time and it blew a fuse in our 6 year old unit. He recommended we NOT try again or get another Ecobee product. Tried to take it back to best buy in Annapolis and they were AWFUL, refused and told us that because it had been 15 days we had to go through ecobee's warranty. EVEN after telling them what happened and begging... BEGGING for an exchange for a different brand or store credit.. no go. Called Ecobee who told us we had to have an electrician come BACK OUT and try to install it with them on the phone. Then IF they thought it was faulty they would send us a new one... sooo this junk unit could burn my house down and you want me to try again? Save yourself the time and money, find a different unit and even still don't use best buy!! I'm done spending my money at this place.

If you have used Nest then don’t go for it. You will be disappointed. Otherwise it is ok.

I was not able to install with my 23 year old geothermal unit? Tech support was lack luster and said the problem was not on there end... I have a “Water Furnace” brand, wish it would have worked... I have successfully installed before with a gas furnace and once with an electric heat pumps (not a novice)

I bought it want to give it a try because I thought it was cool. Make sure you have a CWIRE. If not give up!

It’s a great product but I was more inclined to the nest learning thermostat - returned this eventually.

I have 2 of these in my house. one works well. the other has wifi connectivity issues (even though its closer to the wireless router) and I have twice had it turn on my ac when the system was off. This is very distressing and Ecobee is unwilling to look into this. They have looked at the history and cannot find such an occurance but that does not mean it didn't happen.

This is a highly rated device and I was disappointed with the limited integration. The thermostat worked as designed, but I want home integration which it did not offer. I had been told it was a ZWave thermostat which it was just another wifi. Eventually moved to Alarm.com thermostat which I like much better.

Had a nest before, heard good things about ecobee so wanted to try it out. I want my nest back

had this for a little over a year now and bout 4 months ago its sensor started glitching. It changes from my sleep schedule to away even when im home in bed sleeping. We wake up sweating at night cuz we expect it to get colder at night cuz its set that way but instead it switches to our hotter away setting

These have a lot of great features, but because I’m in florida I had to return it. The heat load on my house was too high, apparently. I had the ac guys out 3 times in 3 weeks, by the time we figured out the problem Best Buy wouldn’t return the item because it was over their 15 days return policy.

The sensor capabilities are awful. Tech support tells me I have to keep deleting and re-entering my schedule. Doing this 4-5 Times a month!! Sometimes it just decides not to work. My sons room was 80 degrees when it was set for 68. Not impressed at all, and would highly recommend finding and alternative. Still no iPhone X support.

It does exactly as it's suppose to do, but the alexa feature is lacking severely.

Worked pretty good for 3 years and 3 months, just outside my warranty, and died out of no where. Was not sending signal to my AC so no air for a day until I realized it. Of course warranty is over so very unlikely I’ll be replacing it with another $200-$300 device to last 3 years. On a side note, the sensors are annoying and seem to need new batteries often. I would highly recommend skipping this device and trying something different. If the product is so great, then extended warranties should be placed on them. Who knows what piece/part went wrong with it, but I’m not at a point to troubleshoot it to find out. An older Honeywell has me up and running.

After installed, my power bill is higher! I like the customization options.

I have had this product for under 24 hours and am already going to return it. It worked perfectly fine while we were home but has since lost connection to WiFi and will not reconnect even though other devices on the same network are having no issues. The device has since disappeared from the My Home screen in the app. The main reason to invest in a smart thermostat is to be able to control them when not at home. After searching the web to see if anyone else is having similar issues it appears I am not the only one. I have also since found the Ecobee servers are consistently down or having issues. Not sure how this product received such good reviews... Returning the Ecobee4 for a Nest 3rd Generation, do not make the same mistake I did.

Make sure you have all the ports to connect this device.

My unit was locking up and threw only way to fix it was to physically remove it from the wall. There was no way to do a hard reboot from the device. Also, the Alexa portion of the unit is VERY POORLY implemented. The mics did not pick up my voice anywhere near as good as an Echo Dot. It also does not have the feature that allows it to know if it is in earshot of another Alexa device, so when it did hear me, another one of my Alexa devices would also hear me and then both would answer. Alexa devices have the capability to know if they are near each other and only the closest one is supposed to answer. I was "upgrading from a Nest thermostat, but I really thought this Echo bee was a step back from the Nest. I returned it and went back to my old Nest.

I was surprise that the compagne didn’t include a Plate to fit all the wall size I have a regular rectangular a/c control Pannel and didn’t fit the device

The thermostat, although installed correctly, causes my furnace to short cycle so I have had to resort back to my old thermostat. I had no issues with the thermostat in the summer but did find I did not utilize the features as much as I thought I would. Also, having Alexa on the thermostat proved to be more of a hassle than not; seeing as how it interferred with my Amazon Echo in the living room and would also randomly performed functions when triggered by something said on the TV. Nice idea but poor execution on the part of Ecobee. Save your money get something else.
