    Smartest Thermostat - BEST PRICE!

Just bought a new home and I installed this! I love this! I have a basement floor, a main floor, and upstairs floor. We have two Heaters and two AC units. One Heater and AC for the basement and main floor and one Heater and AC for the Upper floor. I put 3 remote sensors in the rooms upstairs. And 3 remote sensors for main floor thermostate for kitchen and two in the basement. The thermostats also act as sensors with motion. I hooked this up with Apple Siri and I love this! I now have Alexa to help around the home also. I love how I can shop on Amazon Prime with Alex through my thermostat! Previously I had to use my Amazon Fire to use Alexa to shop with discounts with her. Now I love using my thermostats! Oh and did I mention I am saving money on my utility bills? My thermostats are so smart and know when to not come one, I am using my system's less than before and loving my constant temperatures! You need to buy this! I know that some people like that Nest because its flashy, but this does all Nest does and even more!!!!! For the same price!!!!!

    Another outstanding product from ecobee!

I am very, very happy with my ecobee4! It functions just like the ecobee3 does, but with some very nice and welcomed extras. • Amazon Alexa: She works! The far-field voice recognition works great. There are the occasional instances where she might not hear you, but I have the same issues with my Dot. I use Alexa pretty frequently on my ecobee4 while I fold laundry in the dining room (which is where the thermostat is) to play music or listen to my flash briefing. I also use my ecobee4 to control some of my smart home accessories like my smart plugs. • The speaker: The speaker actually sounds pretty decent and is loud enough to fill the room with some good quality sound...especially considering that this is coming from a thermostat. Pros: It works great, is fun to use, and saves on energy costs! I love the fact that there's a speaker in this and I use it while at home and entertaining. Sensors, sensors, sensors! I have sensors all over my house and use them to help get the most accurate average temperature reading of my house. I love the fact that they can detect if a room is unoccupied and therefor will focus on making sure the rooms that are occupied are at the desired temperature. The sensors can also be used as a motion detector with HomeKit and can be automated to interact with other smart devices around the home. I have the one in my bedroom programmed to turn on the lights after sunset when motion is detected in the room. Cons: As of right now, there is no Alexa ESP feature, so if you have multiple Alexa devices within range of each other, they'll all go off at the same time. However, I'm sure that'll be addressed and fixed at some point in the near future. Overall it's a fantastic product. If you want to upgrade your thermostat, I highly recommend this.

    Great smart thermostat

We purchased this and a sensor pack to better manage our HVAC system. I had been trying to manually adjust temps when leaving but I identified forgot and there was a lag to cool the house when we car home from work. Ecobee solves all of that. I was considering the other big name in smart thermostats. I decided on this primarily for the remote sensors. Having Alexa built in is a nice bonus. Also the other brand has not updated their hardware for a while. I love having IFTTT support, the follow me feature and the smart recovery. Scheduling is of course great but any decent unit can do that. For me set up was easy. My existing tstat was only using four wires but the fifth wire was tucked into the wall and disconnected at the furnace. I simply connected the fifth wire to the C wire on the furnace board and followed the instructions on the app. I did not need the optional power device but it's a nice addition to the standard equipment ecobee provides in the box. After a few weeks of use I am very satisfied with the ecobee. I would strongly recommend it to any one considering a smart thermostat.

Very easy to use and control from your phone. Having multiple sensors is nice so that I can control the temperature from my bedroom at night when we are asleep. My kids really like the built in Alexa and since we have Prime we have access to tons of kids music.

The integration with HomeKit was the deciding factor for me buying the Ecobee over the competition. I use Siri to control the Ecobee on my Apple devices such as my iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. Alexa being built in was an added bonus. I use Alexa to set timers while I cook. The Ecobee is also able to link to my Hue bulbs, so I can use the sensors on the thermostat and the room sensors to have the lights turn on/off when we enter/leave rooms. One of the coolest integrations is having IFTTT link to both so that when the timer is done on the Ecobee, the lights in the house will blink to alert me. This is useful for when I'm cooking and leave the room. Ecobee4 also had an accessory terminal so I could have it control the humidifier on my furnace. I love this device.

I just Love my Ecobee 4. I already own ‘other’ Alexa products (Amazon Echo), but the ‘4’ just adds to it. Now I own a smart thermostat that is Easy to program, Easy to change the settings, and I have another ‘Alexa’ in the hallway ( with Alexa products in other rooms). If I didn’t own a Ecobee w/Alexa...Now I Would. Very happy!!! ++10

we had previously purchased the ecobee3 lite after our Nest pretty much bit the dust. We were very happy with the 3 lite until our HVAC unit also died. Our replacement new unit was a middle of the road and had a variable speed and humidifier and unfortunately the 3 lite was not compatible. We have extra sensors around the house and it has made a huge difference. The 4, although we’re not too fond of Alexa is great. I like the other new features and feel like the temp inside our home is more regulated. We’ve only had it for about a week so it is still adjusting to the new a/c unit. Overall, no complaints.

    Incredible Thermostat

I waited years to get a smart thermostat. While I've only owned the thermostat for a week, I cant say enough good things about it. It's also worth noting that support is amazing, you actually get a live person in a few minutes, day or night. From a geeky perspective, you have more access to data than you would know what do with. It's awesome. The interface is intuitive enough for your average end user. It also offers many advanced features for the power user as well. The fact that a remote temperature sensor is included is a big +.

I have had many digital and smart thermostats but this one is by far the best. I had to run new wiring to my thermostat but I knew it would need it before I bought it. So check your wiring first and make sure you are willing to do the upgrading if needed. One of my favorite features is being able to lock the thermostat so people cannot change it. However, they can still use Alexa but only change it to an approved temp setting. Install is made pretty easy as the app walks you thru the install with videos and links.

Excellent Thermostat - so-so Voice Control

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Ecobee is first and foremost a thermostat so it works great in that regard. The touchscreen is very responsive and the interface is intuitive to use. The only downfall is the implementation of Amazon Alexa. There is no adjustment of the voice control system other than volume. For example, you have to use "Alexa" as the wake-word while you can choose another on echo devices or have whisper mode. The microphone pick-up is meh compared to other echo devices with the far field pick-up capability.

    Love these Echobees

Bought two of them. One for the upstairs, one for downstairs- 2 separate heating/air units. They are awesome. Can already tell the heat is running less. Very efficient. Customer support is also awesome- do not understand the negative comments about them. True- you do have to spend time on hold to begin with. But once you have a ticket # you just email them and they call you. I would just put on a tv show or work at something else until they answered the phone. The support team was always very knowledgeable and solved all of my problems that I had with setup and programming. They spent a lot of time with me as I figured out wiring, Alexa, schedules and heat vs. fan complications on multiple phone calls for both thermostats. They even taught me which bundle of wires to attach the C wire to in my air handler to power the thermostat. The thermostats are incredibly efficient. The schedule is set for sleep, home( wake up), away (for work), home-(again after work). I do not touch the thermostat at all. Another complaint I have read about is the problem scrolling the pad to set a different temperature. You have to slide your finger slowly and watch the numbers change and then let go when your finger go off the pad when you see the number you want. This is not something you do with a fast swipe. When you set up a full Alexa function, which customer service helped me to do, you can just ask Alexa to do it for you. My only complaint is that directions and full tutorials are somewhat sparse in easy to find so you can learn all of the nuances and workings of this excellent product. But again, customer service was phenomenal all six or seven times I needed to get help about anything. Highly recommend this product.

    Awesome thermostat

I'm loving this thermostat so far, I bought four extra remote sensors for bedrooms and home office and it's awesome being able to see temperature variations and having the ecobee track occupancy. I had to stay home earlier this week and the ecobee knew I was home and automatically stayed in "home" mode. I love being able to go into my online ecobee account and see graphs over time of temperatures (overall system and individual sensors), modes, and occupancy. The Alexa functionality is great, this covers the corner of my house that needed it. I got cold a couple days ago, I was able to just say "Alexa, tell ecobee I'm cold" and it automatically bumped my temperatures up 2 degrees. Now, one thing I'd like to share in terms of initial setup: my ecobee connected just fine to my 2.4GHz wireless network. The next day, however, it dropped off the Internet and didn't come back. My Smartthings hub remained online so I know it wasn't an internet outage. The only way I could get my ecobee to reconnect was two things: change my wireless router to use 20MHz channels instead of 40MHz channels (it was using channels 7 + 11 instead of just a single channel, ecobee doesn't play nicely with this, I had to change my 2.4 GHz network speed to "up to 217Mbps" on my Netgear router to accomplish this) and manually configure my ecobee to use a static IP address. I tried both these fixes at the same time and it worked, I didn't want to monkey around with the settings anymore so I'm not sure which one specifically fixed it but this might help if you have trouble too.

    Regret switching from Nest

I’m giving it 2 Stars instead of one only due to the easy install and HomeKit compatability. I don’t like Alexa... Google Home / Assistant blows it out of the water. Paid extra for a feature I don’t want or need. The software is buggy and a complete joke. Scheduling is not intuitive, the fan options are practically non existent, I can reproduce a crash in the app any time I want, it’s not ready for the iPhone X screen (yet), the app refreshes like a website with each settings change, you are forced to have a schedule, you can’t just have a default temp or range, I feel like it was rushed and the software is still in beta. Bad interface for the device and the app. Can’t add comfort settings, only modify the ones they give you. Get a Nest and don’t question it. The Nest is 10x better in every way. I’m returning this half a$$ed device.

Solid device, great option for Homekit

If you have HomeKit and need a smart thermostat, this definitely works. I can’t compare to others, this is the first I get, but I decided to buy it after extensive market research. Works as advertised. Have had it for several months and noticed AC turns on less frequently without a loss of comfort in the house. I particularly enjoy the integration with HomeKit. It is not yet perfect, Siri sometimes fails to connect or to pass on the command (I’d say less than 1% of the time for me). I’ve read that’s due to Apple, as it controls Siri as a service and is the sole responsible for improving its capabilities. The advantage of Ecobee 4 is that it can be integrated wth other IoT services, and has alexa built in. I didn’t try that, not interested, but great knowing options abound.

After 6 months, disappointed and broke!

I was excited to purchase and install the new ecobee4 summer 2017. My HVAC system is a 2002 Ruud heat pump with the electric furnace in the basement and compressor/fan outside. After opening the package, it became clear pretty quickly that my current thermostat wiring did not match ANY of the ecobee4 installations. The original thermostat was an older Rudd (2002). I contacted ecobee customer service and to their credit, they were quick to email me numerous wiring diagrams. I chose the closest match but none were a perfect match. At this point, it was either return it or choose best fit. I chose best fit. It worked well during summer and was easy to control while at home and remotely. Now....fast forward to this winter. For whatever reason (quite possibly mine), it did not control the heat pump compressor on the outside. Instead, it fired up the emergency heating coils on my heat pump and operated solely in that mode. Unfortunately for me, it has been bitter cold the past month with an average temp of 22 degrees last month. This resulted in the emergency coils being extremely overtaxed and $1000 electric bill. Last year with the old dinosaur thermostat, same month albeit average of 32 degrees, my electric bill was $300. After hours and hours of troubleshooting, I'm stuck with my dinosaur thermostat, a $1000 electric bill and a $250 ecobee4 that I can't return since I purchased it July, 2017.
