Ecobee initially added HomeKit arming and disarming support, then abruptly removed it without any notice. I didn’t realize this change for two days, which meant my home wasn’t arming at night or when I left the house. For a so-called security product, that lack of communication is pure negligence. I also discovered another major flaw. if my thermostat loses its internet connection, even while still connected to my router, the security system will not trigger an alarm. Alarm functionality is locked behind their subscription paywall. That makes the system unreliable and focused more on driving subscriptions than protecting customers. What’s worse is the inconsistency. Even without internet, the door chime still works locally on the thermostat, yet the alarm itself won’t sound. That shows the feature is intentionally disabled unless you’re paying "or connected to the internet". This creates a dangerous situation. My home could still have power, but if someone cut the internet line, they could open a door while I was asleep and the alarm would remain silent inside the house. Between the unannounced HomeKit removal and the critical internet dependency, I’ve decided to abandon the entire Ecobee product line. Avoid this system, it cannot be trusted.

It’s a cool doorbell and great if you have the ecobee thermostat to go with it but it doesn’t record unless you pay a subscription and although it works with HomeKit, it doesn’t work with HomeKit secure video.

I’ve had this doorbell for about a month now, and ecobee has already updated and improved the software. There was initially a significant lag when opening the doorbell via the ecobee app, but that has gone away with the latest update. HomeKit integration is super responsive and the main reason I chose this over others. No regrets!

This is a fantastic doorbell camera from Ecobee. It integrated with my Ecobee Premium thermostat without any problems. The chime unit fit into the existing doorbell housing. The video from the camera is high quality even at night.

This video doorbell is everything I hoped it would be or do. Wonderful color day and nite and I love the talk feature.

Ecobees simplicity of set up and usage makes this product quite nice. It took minutes to set up and integrated very well with ecobee family. The one problem is HomeKit integration. While it is HomeKit accessible, it doesn’t allow for activity notifications. So it makes the home security for HomeKit unusable. I am hoping they fix this. That would change it to 5 stars.

As I've been building on my smart home accessories, my only requirement has been that everything must be HomeKit compatible since I'm heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem. However, for the longest time, the only widely available doorbell for HomeKit has been the Logitech Circle Doorbell. However, ecobee's offering has finally provided an awesome alternative. The field of view is great, it's night mode is better than Logitech, it works great with ecobee's smart thermostat (along with Alexa/Google/Siri), and it provides all of this while being cheaper. Installation was easy, and as originally required, it works great along with the rest of my HomeKit enabled devices. Furthermore, the price was so good that I bought a couple more as gifts for the holidays.

The doorbell viedo made a huge difference in feeling safe.

Doorbell works fine but the Best Buy tech could not get it connected to the existing indoor chime. Very disappointing.

Easy set up and great camera quality. Integrates well with the thermostat

It’s pretty average. Picture quality is lacking. Detection is slow and delayed but it works with Apple HomeKit and shows up in HomeKit. Installation and setup was easy.

Works well with Apple homekit which was exactly what I was looking for. Install was easy I did have to contact customer service to get the doorbell hooked up properly and customer service did a great job helping me with this

I recently switched to the Ecobee doorbell after using a Nest doorbell for many years. I am extremely disappointed with the Ecobee doorbell. My initial complaints are that it doesn't support 24/7 recording (motion-based recording only) or Apple Homekit secure video. With only motion-based recording, there is a risk that it will miss important video. After using it, I realized many other serious issues. The doorbell button does not illuminate when someone approaches the door at night for a period of time. If it is dark, they don't see where to press the doorbell button. Also, if you press a motion-detected notification on your mobile phone, it goes to live video, not the motion event. If it was a recent motion event, for example, there is no option to rewind the video to see what happened. Nor can you see the event in the history for a period of time. So if you just missed something, Ecobee will greatly disappoint you. It is equally as frustrating that if you press on an older motion event it doesn't take you to the event. You need to click through history to find it. The product has a lot of potential but fails miserably in my opinion.

I love that we can see who is at the door from our thermostats. This is the doorbell cam to get if you’re running Ecobees latest thermostats that support video.

Ecobee smart doorbell camera has a wider viewing angle, and very clear. Love the fact that I can view who is at my door on both of my Ecobee thermostat Premium.

Great product, easy integration with Apple Homekit

Excellent doorbell I am in love with this doorbell I recommend it 100% excellent video and the sound quality is amazing.

I got this doorbell because I wanted one compatible with an Apple home kit. It was easy to set up; however, it often disconnected from my internet.

My second smart doorbell hoping for the best. So far so good. Sleek and blends in with my landscape decor.
