Better than HP, but not great for photo printing

For best print quality you must mess a bit with the printer's settings. Saw online reviews showing how to do this. The contrast and colors are a bit toned down out of the box. Removing one star for this, Otherwise, much better than the HP it replaced, constantly losing connection with my PC and smartphone.

I am not tech illiterate but I'm also not an Apple Genius. I struggled with trying to set this printer up but became very frustrated with my inability to do so. In the process I realized I had signed up for both a yearly and a monthly fee. I called Total Tech and they obliged with setting up a time for phone remote setup that could take 2-3 phone hours. I had no desire to take that kind of time. for what should be a fairly uncomplicated process. I returned the machine to Best Buy!! Total Tech was helpful.

The Epson Ecotank ET-2800 all in one is a great printer. I tend to bounce back and forth between Epson and HP printers, trying to find the perfect combination of connectivity, print quality and economy. This year I think I have found a printer that meets all of the above criteria. The quality of prints from this printer are as good as any home printer I have used. Speed is more than acceptable and connectivity is great using the free Epson Smart Panel App. I have been able to print from all of my devices. Setup was easy and this all in one device does not have a huge footprint. Of course the biggest selling point is the use of a refillable ink tank as opposed to replaceable cartridges. Epson claims that you can save up to 90% on the cost of ink by using this method. I have not had to buy replacement ink, and if Epsons claim of up to 4500 pages of black prints and 7500 pages of color prints on a full tank are true, it will be a while before I have to find out. Regardless, just knowing that I can use the printer over an extended period of time without having to buy small cartridges is very welcome. I also like the fact that you can see ink levels on the front of the printer. This printer seems to meet all of my needs.

    Tanks v.s. Cartridges

Well, I bought the new Epson Ecotank ET-2800 for $199 (same price everywhere). So far, it works well at good speeds, black/color, and the (4) ink tanks have amazing capacity: How long does Epson 522 last? The ET-2800 printer uses Epson 522 dye-based ink bottles. The black ink bottle prints up 4,500 pages and each color ink bottle prints up to 7,000 pages. Having said that, it doesn't have a multi-feed tray (which I used only occasionally on the previous printer), nor does it do double-sided printing "automatically". However, it's easy to stick the paper back in for the 2nd side. So, a few compromises ... but it is smaller and is working well printing from all my devices including my iPhone. It's easy to refill the tanks with virtually no-spill effort, and you can see the ink remaining in 4 sight-glasses on the front. Some minor confusion during setup due to the printer and smartphone trying to do the same thing simultaneously. Be sure to pick one or the other. I also bought a 2-year warranty. It covers everything including replacement of the printer if it can't be made to work properly.

Entry level - seldom use okay, else go laser

Epson has a long history making high quality printers, and transitioned from dot matrix to ink jet to laser jet over the years. The downside of the previous generation of ink jet printers were low yield messy one-time-use color cartridges, now occupying landfill space here on mother earth. Additionally they seemingly needed frequent replacements just before your final couple pages had finished printing for that important homework assignment or report due on a deadline. This new generation of Eco friendly super tank ink bottles allow for easy in-home refilling, with capacity for 3500 to 7500 pages on a tank. Pros + quick setup + feature-rich + 1.44-inch LCD + copy and scan + excellent colors + smart panel app + zero cartridge waste + 2- year supertank ink + scan res 1200x2400 dpi + print res 5760x1440 dpi + 3500 page black, 6500 color * + 4500 page black, 7500 color ** + 10-page/minute black, 5 ppm color *initial ink bottle capacity **replacement ink capacity Cons -plastic build quality -single-sided printing -rear paper tray loading only -quality not as sharp as laser -initial loading of ink required -no USB direct print connectivity Conclusion I truly appreciate Epson and the rest of the industry’s move away from landfill magnet cartridges, for our children’s sake. While this is, as intended, a basic no frills printer (okay if seldom used), I personally recommend stepping up to the EcoTank 2850 ($100 more) which adds a front paper tray loader, as well as dual-sided printing, and more features. If you are Covid relocated working from home, desire more features and premium printing, then consider stepping up to a color laser printer with better build quality that I’d expect to last many years.

Perfect printer to work with phone/tablet!

The Epson EcoTank ET-2800 is a cartridge free basic printer for home printing. This would be a fine printer for someone who does not have a laptop or PC. It can be set-up and work all from the app from your phone or tablet. The printer comes with 4 bottles of ink that you fill the printer with. It takes about 15 minutes to do. Epson says that this should last about 2 years (or the equivalent of 90 cartridges). It was very easy to set-up the printer when following the directions in the app. This is a good basic printer. The print quality is decent - but not like you would get on a laser printer. Also note, it doesn't have a paper tray - the paper is loaded in the back of the printer. I gave it 4 stars because it is a little pricey for the basic printer - you are paying a little more for what you will save on ink.

This is an awesome printer/copier/scanner but was hard to set up. The unit should have come with the necessary software but you had to find out what you needed on your own. Other than that, after you get it set up, it's great.

So happy with this printer! Was having issues with an older cartridge printer, cartridges failing and replacements not recognized, etc, etc. This printer replaced all but the FAX function (which I never used) and prints what I need, makes copies, and scans when I need it too. Loving the tank, refills are super easy and economical, and setup was super easy. Best Buy customer pick-up was simple and fast, will definitely do that again.

The Epson - EcoTank ET-2800 Wireless Color All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer with Scan and Copy is a good all-around printer suitable for home use. Thanks to its Wi-Fi network connectivity, you can easily print to it from multiple devices on your home network. Unlike another popular printer brand that decided to eliminate USB connectivity altogether, Epson made the right decision to keep USB 3.0 connectivity, so you can still have it directly connected/wired to your legacy desktop PC. USB will also come in handy for the scanning functionality. The setup is simple, using the Epson smart panel app follow step by step instructions to get the printer setup on your Wi-Fi network. Since there are no ink cartridges, all you have to do is pour the ink from the four bottles into the tanks matching their respective colors. It’s pretty cool that you can physically see the actual ink levels on the front of the printer. I’ve had issues with ink drying up on older inkjet printers, hope Epson took care of that problem with this new cartridgeless design. It would truly be great if I didn’t have to worry about ink for the next 2 years with low to moderate printing volume. Print quality is pretty sharp even on regular paper. Speed is reasonable at 10ppm for black and half that for color. It would have been nice to have automatic duplex printing at this price point, but I guess not having to buy expensive ink cartridges a couple of times per year makes up for that. Time will tell if the EcoTank ink will be “stress-free” for two years. Epson also includes a generous 2 year warranty.

    Set-up Hint

Great printer at a decent price. Set up required downloading app to my i phone and following instructions. All went well until it came time to enter my Wi-Fi password. The keyboard in the app has no symbols; my Wi-Fi password does. Just know that you can switch to the standard keyboard. I would tell you how but truth is that while yelling at the app and waving my arms around while clutching The phone I inadvertently hit upon the right key or button that gave me the option. It was smooth sailing from there on out.

I've only just set this printer up about 4 days ago so I can only review the initial set up process. This is the easiest wireless printer I've ever set up on my computer, tablet, and phone. Filling the ink was a breeze with the help of the app. Test prints are fabulous, and getting the drivers for my computer was a breeze. So far I am happy with it.

After purchasing a HP printer and not being able to hook it up to the computer because it is all done on WI-FI we got the Eason printer. Hook up was way easier. I was Leary of buying this as the ink is in a bottle. DO not worry about it, it is very easy to fill and it last a long time. I’ve printed 200 4x6 pics and it used a quarter of ink. Highly recommend

I purchased this printer because my daughter has one and really likes it. The printer is light and installs easily. I print quite a bit and was constantly replacing the ink. I was not happy with my photo prints. My new EcoTank printer's quality is very impressive. A very nice home or home office printer; and priced very well.

    Amazing printer for its price

Using this to replace my Canon printer, and although the DPI is lower on this printer, it does the job. Just put the print setting on HIGH before proceeding. I love the refillable part of the printer compared to buying cartridges! Somehow this printer connects better than the ET-8550, but I love them both in regards of what they can do. It is a smidge confusing to setup(wireless). Here's how to do it so that you won't get confused. Step 1: Remove all the protective tape. Step 2: Fill it up with ink accordingly. Step 3: Load AT LEAST 3 sheets of printer paper. Step 4: START at your computer to prep the wireless setup; Google Epson's ET-2800's Setup for your computer (windows vs chromebook) and download that. Step 5: Follow the steps to download the proper drivers and to connect to your wifi. It'll then ask you to navigate the rest of the steps accordingly on your printer. And you're done after that!

One of the first things I noticed about the printer was the weight. I could lift it with one arm, even with ink inside. It's small form factor and tiny frame helps this as well. All of the parts attached that need to move are made of a thin plastic, which adds to this weight reduction.   The second thing I noticed was the ink. I do really like the design of not having ink cartridges and having a refillable ink well instead. One downside to this is the bottles the ink come in can leak a bit around the top so you have to be careful not to get it on anything.   The final thing about the printer is the quality. It prints relatively quick, which is a major plus. The black and white pages come out crisp and clean. There was a little bleeding when I first printed with it but after that it was good. The color, on the other hand, were just okay. It struggled getting the lighter colors. The resolution of the print itself is nice and the blacks and fully saturated colors are good.     All in all, its not the best printer for the price but it is an alright, at home printer to take care of the printing needs.
