I'm a huge John Carpenter fan and when I found out Shout/Scream Factory was going to put their magic touch on this awesome 80's gem then it was a no brainier for me!! This Collector's Edition comes loaded with bonus features, commentary tracks, beautiful transfer with amazing artwork that's reversible so you can have have both new and original covers.

These are AMAZING! I was browsing the movie aisles for my "traditional stocking stuffers"...I had been buying steelbooks for my son since he was in his teens. This year I saw one that I was super excited about! There was a Steelbook Edition of Assault on Precinct 13! It struck me as an odd choice for a Steelbook Edition over other John Carpenter titles so I started reading the stock tags under the empty slots and, sure enough, this title (one of my favorites) existed and was sold out. I got online as soon as I got home and ta-da...collection started! (I bought Precinct 13 in store). There are other John Carpenter titles out there in these Steelbook editions and I hope BB picks them up...so I can too!

Excellent and believable movie where prisoners are left to fend for themselves on Manhattan island. Snake Plisken (Kurt Russell) is sent (in exchange for a full pardon of crimes) to recuse the president whose plane crashed behind prison boundaries. During his mission he encounters all kinds of creeps, slime, punks and freaks. One of Kurt Russell's best roles and the movie has become a cult favorite. Supporting cast is also great including Brain and his squeeze, cabbie, and of course the Duke of NY.. Nobody messes with the Duke! Hey Plisken...I heard you were dead..Excellent movie with plenty of action and violence worthy of the R rating...

This SCREAM FACTORY 2-Disc Collector's Edition is the definitive version of the film. Great picture quality and tons of special features.

Great 80's action movie. Great score and direction from John Carpenter. I am a huge fan of the steel books offered by Best Buy.

I do enjoy this movie but I do think that this is a little overrated. Maybe this is one of those movies that you need to watch again and again. The Steelbook is a good one by the way.

The action sequences in this film is classic and Kurt Russell really does a fantastic job in this film

Save the president, get out alive, if the inmates don't kill him, the virus will ? What are the odds ? Impossible but entertaining.

This Blu-Ray is ok with for someone just looking for the movie, but there's a $19.99 version with special features.

The SteelBook version is my favorite for gift giving.

This blu ray transfer is the best that is for sure. I have the MGM blu ray for comparison and the Scream Factory version overall has the superior picture. It's sharper with more contrast and vivid color. There is only one major flaw in the entire movie which I knew of before buying the blu ray from reading other's reviews. At the beginning of the film in a major scene the the text "Air Force One", which are displayed on a computer screen, are illegible because the contrast is so high. The letters are completely blurred out. If you look past this pivotal scene the rest of the film looks spectacular. I still recommend upgrading to the Scream Factory version because the picture quality is that good.
