Only reason for giving 2 stars is for the radar detector itself. The required app to access the total system is flawed and from my standpoint it was not ready for the market. I have reinstalled the app 3 times, factory reset the MAXcam twice and still am unable to get the app to connect to the camera via Wi-Fi and at times even the radar through Bluetooth. Escort should be giving peoples money back especially paying a premium price for it. It would also be helpful if they actually gave you a manual to use that goes more in-depth of the specific actions for each button. Yes a downloadable is available but is hard to read on a phone. About ready to return this to Best Buy before I toss it out the window. Escort should know by now when a product is ready for the general use. I love the concept a two for one is great but the actual ability to use is seriously lacking.

I was very hesitant purchasing this based on other reviews but I followed the app set up instructions and within no time my radar detector started a software update, installed after a few minutes with no issues. I navigated thru the app to the detector settings and made a few changes, again no problems. I see no need to worry about wi-fi connections as the drive smarter app connects via bluetooth and makes all the updates from there. I have yet to attempt to download any videos from the traffic cam features and will update this review if I run into any issues. For the record I am running the Drive Smarter app on a iPhone 12 Max Pro if that makes any difference with complaints about the app not working.

The people at Escort should be ashamed to sell junk like this. I’ve purchased several Escort Radar detectors in the past and replaced an Escort Max 360 + M1 camera with the Escort Maxcam 360, but this purchase is a huge regret. I saw the other poor reviews, but bought one because I figured surely Escort has gotten the problems fixed since the Escort Maxcam 360 has been out for months. Well, apparently they haven’t gotten the problems ironed out, because this thing is a piece of junk. Trying to figure out how to link the detector to my car’s hotspot took a lot of research on the internet, because Escort certainly didn’t provide any helpful instructions for doing this. Then, after I got it connected, I couldn’t update any settings for the device using the Drive Smarter app, because it would just hang after I tried to make a change (e.g., disable overspeed alerts). I tried uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it, but now the app crashes every time I try to open it. Oh, and BTW, one of the main reasons I bought this was so that firmware updates could be performed automatically using my car’s hotspot, but I called Escort and was told that feature isn’t working.

Positive-Radar detection and filtering are on point. Negative-The camera and application are trash. Connectivity is so random between the app and detector. I should have went with the advice from all the reviews. Wait for the redline to be available, dont waste your time with this unit if you need a dashcam!!!

Such a quality item no problem with Bluetooth connection and app connection compared to my old Max360

I haven't used a radar detector in probably a good 20 years. Never anything nearly this fancy. I'm pretty happy with it's feature set but I'm not quiet sure I'm impressed enough to spend quite this much on one. Setup is fairly easy for the most part. You can basically just attach the sticky suction cup to your windshield and put the detector on the magnet and then plug it in and you're ready to go. That's a pretty basic setup. There's a ton of settings to go through if you're in advanced mode. And you can connect it to your phone as well. So there's a lot more than just basic radar detection that you can do if you go through some more steps. The magnetic clip takes a minute to get used to since you have to get the detector into the notch first and then rotate it down but it's not too bad. My biggest gripe is actually the proprietary RJ45 power jack as well as the separate MINI usb connection (not even micro). For this price, I would definitely prefer a single USB-C plug for both power and data. They sell their own hard wire kit for $25-35 which is probably the whole point in keeping the power cable proprietary. The number of settings is almost overwhelming. If you don't know what they do, just leave them alone but for the most part they're pretty easy to grasp. You can find a good description of each setting in the manual. Navigating and changing settings took me a second to figure out but I eventually got it well enough to go through them all on the device. If you're feeling frisky and don't have enough accounts for things, there's the Drive Smarter app that lets your connect to your Escort and control a lot of things. You need an account which is always a negative for me but it's pretty much the standard now a days. You can go through settings of the device a little easier in the app than trying to navigate them on the device. The app is basically just another GPS app that communicates with the detector. The nicest thing about it is that it replaces the over-speed speed on the detector screen with the current speed limit (if it's detected). Then you can see the alerts on the app as well as the device screen so I guess that's kind of nice? I mainly just don't use the app since I'd rather use Apple Maps if I need GPS and I'd rather not have it running all the time while I'm driving. One reason to at least connect to the app at some point is to connect your detector to wifi so it can update firmware and database entries, though. The radar detector works pretty well in my smallish sample size so far. The first trip I took with it, I turned the corner and it went off right away and there was a cop right across the street. It does detect pretty much everything so you'll see a lot of false positives.. at first. One of the nicest things I like about this detector is it's learning mode. It's a setting you can turn off but I don't intend to do that. It basically remembers where it saw events and if the same event shows up at the same place a few times, it adds it to a lock out database and it doesn't yell at you next time it's detected. It will still show up on the screen but it will give you a bit Locked message and then show the radar detection in gray and silent. It will also unlock an event if that radar goes away at some point in the future. Seems smart. So far it's worked pretty well for me. It seems like this detector can see pretty much every type of radar in existence. It doesn't include anything to block radar detector detectors (or a stealth mode) so if you need that, look elsewhere. I had to look up the different types of radar and what they meant so I understood which events I needed to be more aware of but that didn't take long. When an event is detected, you can see how strong the signal is in front and behind you. By default it will just show the most important event (based on how likely that signal is to be a real event), but you can change a setting that will show up to 4 events at the same time. Basically, radar detection seems to work really well and maybe I'm just out of the loop as far as how much a good radar detector costs these days. You're not just getting a radar detector with this one! If you're looking to consolidate your devices and squeeze an alright dashcam into your radar detector, this thing might be for you! The picture is technically 1440p. There are settings for how long each segment is recorded for (1, 3 or 5 minutes). There's a g-sensor for shock detection that automatically locks recordings. There's even a parking mode that can keep the device asleep while you're parked but start recording when it detects a g-sensor movement or motion. It has a decent amount of features. The picture quality is just alright for me. I think the sensor is pretty good on the camera but the compression is a little over-zealous. Things look pretty good while moving but you can see a ton of artifacts around the overlay text and watermarks. This could maybe be fixed with a firmware update to maybe give us an option for compression settings. It's not a huge issue and I'm sure they're able to squeeze more recordings onto the sdcard that comes in the box. You can also connect your detector (via a separate USB cable) to your computer which pops up the device as a USB drive where you can check out your recordings and even update your firmware without wifi. I had issues getting the device to pop up on my main PC but it worked fine on another laptop so I'm going to blame some configuration issues on my PC instead of knock the device for it. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this radar detector. It didn't need a dashcam for me but it's an added bonus to not need both devices on your windshield. I might be out of the loop on how much radar detectors cost these days because this seems really pricey. But if you're more knowledgeable and this seems like a good price for what I can see as a really good radar detector combined with a pretty good dashcam, then check this one out.

It’s working for awhile last 2-3 weekends after try did upgrade software system , the units keep power self off and on every 2-5 times , got dropped a couple times , finally give it up , call customer service for teach support didn’t get results, decided to getting in for a new unit , luckily got accidentally protected on that , very happy with Best Buy customer service

A little bit pricey, apps should improve for ease of use, but overall works great. Happy with it.

I have had escort radar detectors for years and they are always top notch. I love that this new version comes with the apple car play map and the built in dash cam. It has great detection range and perfect heads up display for alerts, posted speeds, and your current speed. I would never travel without this great radar detector.

I love Escort but this one is too expensive and big for the issues it has, beginning with the app which right now is a PofS. Maybe when fix I’ll try it again.

I bought this here for almost $1k. Radar detector is OK, but it doesn’t detect all HP right next to you aiming at you with their laser speed gun. My worst nightmare here is the dash cam. Downloading just one video is very challenging. I started downloading 4 hours ago, and I still cannot get it to download it’s because it keep disconnecting from WiFi. I kept trying to download, it’ll start then stopped. In my opinion this is not worth that much money. Also the suction cut keeps falling every other day even with clean grease free windshield.
