Great Dash Cam but Unreliable Lane Departure & Collision Alerts. Definitely not a substitute to a factory solution

Within a week it no longer was able to stick to the windshield, I already have to change out the spare part to adhere it to the window. Could be due to Florida heat

I purchased this item and returned it as I couldn’t connect it to the dash cam Wi-Fi. I go the error message “unable to join network “dash cam “46-21431””. After 45 minutes with the in store geek squad I returned the item. Later I purchased a Garmin mini. After an hour and a half on the phone with Garmin, the answer is my iPhone SE and newer Apple phones have security setting that needs to be change. It’s in settings, drive (with the Garmin logo), then turn local network on

It’s just hard to set it up and also you need to be in a WiFi so you could export the files. It does not come with memory card so you should buy your own

I like that it integrates with the phone app quite well. I just think it's a bit smaller than I expected. Ended up returning it.

This camera is not ,all the say .Is not easy to set up,not even for expert installers.Features says: voice activated ,but I don't think this feature is available. It says that record 30 minutes after you turn off your car ,but you get a message in the screen: end of recording. So at this point having this camera install by geek squat in my car less that 30 days ago ,I really don't know if I'm happy with it.

    Can't get pictures or videos

Don't waste your money. The camera is small, great little set up but the only way to take the videos off is over wifi and bluetooth with your phone. I waited until a month after my return policy ended to try to save a video and it won't work. I have tried several phones and ipads. It is so frustrating that if you need the video or picture, you won't be able to get to it or view it. Also, when you say "save video", it starts recording after you say it. I read reviews, saw this complaint but thought "they just don't know what they are doing" or "something is wrong with theirs" . Poor design.

Videos and photos are stored on the camera memory card until you export them to your phone using the Garmin Drive app. You can also transfer photos and videos by connecting the memory card or the device to your computer.
When you say "save video", the device will save the previous video clip, the currently recording clip, and the upcoming clip. Each of these clips will be approximately 1 minute in length, for a total of 3 minutes of saved video around the time of the "save video" command. Garmin

At first was working good. Two weeks in it displayed that brand new chip was degrading. The Dride app( Garmin does not have an app for this dash cam) stopped allowing me to download pictures. I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to take chip out unless their was a problem. More so that I could retrieve all photos and video from phone or computer. Value is 0 since would not work well

Thank you for your feedback. We’ve recently released an update to the Garmin Drive app that will resolve any connection issues. Updates can be downloaded via the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Garmin

Designed only for use only in the interior. Setup was a bit cumbersome and getting the app to connect all the time was not the easiest. Good Tech, Bad execution.

I like how sharp the images are and all but we took this on our recent road trip and it kept telling me I was drifting out of the lane when 99% of the time I wasn't. Also it gives a false read on following too closely if someone passes and pulls back in at an average distance in front of you. The suction cup (not included---they give you a 3M magnetic mount that semipermanently attaches to your windshield, so we bought the detachable one for use in multiple vehicles) gave way at one point. That is, it stopped gripping so the camera fell onto the dash. Message on the Garmin: something to the effect that the incident had been recorded, which is what it's supposed to do if your vehicle is bumped. The travelapse, a sped up version, seems to work, as do the voice commands. I'll go four stars but maybe other dash cams deliver better---I don't have anything to compare to. In other news, our Garmin GPS stopped working---the plug on the unit where it charges physically detached---so we need a new GPS. Apparently you need to just plan on replacing Garmins every two years (this was our third). In any case, they sell a GPS which includes the dash cam feature, meaning you only need one 12V outlet to power what would normally take two. Hmm, considering it.
