Probably the worst GPS I've ever used
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I searched a few GPS options specifically which would include Canada, USA, and Mexico since I do a lot of driving, and sometimes my cell phone doesn't alway work. I bought this 28 days ago, updated it online prior to departure, and was travelling for the last 3 weeks, so unfortunately I'm stuck with this brick, as it's no longer returnable after 14 days. I brought it with me to Canada to use in my rental car. It gave me the correct directions only about 20% of the time. The rest of the trip, it showed incorrect streets, missed highways, and TWICE navigated me directly into a lake (which thankfully I didn't drive into at night) Grateful for the maps on my cell phone that was still receiving a signal and navigated me correctly. This Garmin was a huge disappointment.

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sometimes it tries to get us to go in a different direction. I wish I bought the Smart Drive 5.5" GPS instead.

Don't bother.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a waste of money. My girlfriend and I bought this GPS so we could go to Europe and not have to worry about getting around. We expanded the memory card, like Garmin recommended. We updated all the maps. When we arrived in Italy, this GPS FAILED. It was useless. I honestly feel foolish for thinking that a company that hasn't been relevant in over a decade would be able to provide a service better than apps like Google Maps or Waze. When I got home, I thought I'd try it out to see if it was better than Waze. It wasn't. Garmin directed me into a freeway in Los Angeles under construction. It made me late for work. There is no "real time" guidance. This is garbage.

Meh
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works, not as good as google maps though. It makes the route longer than what it actually is.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered one on line had to return because when cut off will not keep it`s charge. Exchanged for a 2nd one it also would not hold it's charge when cut off. Took it back and got my money back.

Posted .Although these navigators are portable, they are nod handhelds and do require power during operation. Should you need a device that functions under its own battery please see our handheld devices here, http://bit.ly/3Wl77mT

Disappointed by this GPS.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had other GPS's before and this new one was disappointing. Several times it told me to make a right hand turn when it actually should have been a left turn! I was purposely testing it to learn about it's accuracy and quirks. Hopefully it will get better!

Posted .While the GPS is ready to use out of the box, we would suggest using the Garmin Express program to check for any map and software updates that may have been made available while the device was in transit and on the retailer’s shelf. If you haven't installed Garmin Express please download it from the following link:  www.garmin.com/express

Hardware did not last a month
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GPS unit was pretty good until it stopped working less than a month after I purchased it. I left the unit in my car on a sunny April day, and when I returned, the unit would not power on. My guess is that the heat killed it. I was able to replace the unit, but I highly doubt it will survive during the summer months.

Does the job
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Typical GPS. Only thing I can't change is the voice to a man, I don't need to hear a women telling me where to go!

Great device, bad battery
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wish the box had said the battery life was only 1 hour, great for when I need it though as far as fastest route.

My Garmin 52 5" problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought Gamins Drive 52 5" yesterday. It's ok so far, except the car-image doesn't match with the road on the map. Also, the turn-to-exit is just too early which confuses me. (my old Garmin 2597 showed exactly when to turn). I will try few more days and may have to return. Notes: I wonder if these problems are caused by the model, or because the one I bought is not good. Joe

Posted .Sounds like you may want to make sure software and maps are current. Also ensuring strong gps signal strength would be advised. This can be affected by mounting location inside the vehicle. Make sure the unit is on top of the dash with a clear view of the sky.

Not for use on a motorcyle. Found out the hard way
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it for use on my motorcycle. Worked great for 11 months then quit. Tried to file a warranty claim but they told me the unit wasn’t intended for motorcycle use so 1 yr warranty doesn’t apply. Wish that was mentioned before I bught it. Bottom line, don’t buy if you intend to use it on a motorcycle. The unit apparently can’t take the jostling and vibrations while on a motorycle.

Posted .Correct, the Drive 52 was an entry level model not build for dust water or shock resistance. Please see the Tread or Zumo line of devices for this type of usage.
