Customers are saying

Customers commend the DriveAssist 51 LMT-S for its excellent camera, which is frequently praised for accident protection, and its user-friendly GPS navigation system. Many appreciate the ease of use and the helpful voice command features. While some users mention limitations in battery life and memory card functionality, the positive feedback on the core features outweighs these concerns.

We were using the trip setting, the camera and even hooked our phone in to the blue tooth within minutes of hooking it up. We were able to do hands free calling. This was especially an added bonus as we do not have Smart phones was one feature I really wanted and didn't realize this product had it. We went driving around our area which has very spotty cell service, wi-fi etc and found that we had excellent servce. Very pleased and can't wait til next summer to use the maps and the camera on the motorcycle.

This GPS has many great features, Large crisp display, Camera for video and stills, including lane and collision detection, bluetooth connection to smartphone to receive calls and text messages. Although you can only get free traffic update by downloading the smartlink app on your phone and connecting it to the GPS. That will chew through your data plan over time, so be careful.

Hello, and thank you for your review.

Though Smartphone Link is the default traffic solution for the DriveAssist 51 LMT-S, vehicle power cables with built-in traffic receivers are still available for purchase as optional accessories for this device, should you prefer them over the smartphone option.

A GTM 36 cable, which offers standard Garmin traffic, can be found with part number 010-01009-02. A GTM 60, which provides HD Digital Traffic, can be found with part number 010-01031-00.

I'm all over the city and don't have time to read maps. Using the voice command while on the fly is really useful. Occasionally I even use the blue tooth to send an address to the gps from my phone. Too convenient.

It works as a GPS. That's for sure. For anyone who has used Garmin before, the OS hasn't changed at all. The interface is the same. Very smooth experience though. It feels like a smart phone now. The added function of being a camera though is a lifesaver. I wish I would have had it when I got into an accident and they sided with the other guy. It's pricey but it works well. The voice command isn't very good so i wouldn't use it. It also works with a Garmin add on backup camera so that's an added plus.

Bought this item for my son who was a victim of a hit and run, the offender ran my sons car into a parked car and took off. My sons car was subsequently unable to move so my son could not chase after the criminal, luckily a good samaratin who witnessed the act was able to return with the offenders license plate #! And after another close call "accident" i decided to purchase this item for my son! Cant beat it a GPS with a dash cam built in! You cant deny the importance of a dash cam in case of a accident!

I got this as a replacement for another brand. So far, it has been really nice - both the GPS and dash cam. Since I had to travel, I took it along andit really worked well. I'm still getting used to voice command and app to my cell phone features, but they are really nice to have. No complaints so far.

We bought this for my son and daughter who just got their drivers licenses. This is a great unit. 1st-It has voice command so they don't have to touch the GPS. If they want to know where the nearest Sonic is, all they have to do is talk to it. 2nd-it's fast. We've had a couple of older GPS units that took a while to update. 3rd- this one has a dashcam which is AWESOME for me to go back and review their driving habits. Oh and it records sound which is funny to hear how my kids argue. 4th- bluetooth allows them to connect a phone to it and speak through that if you like for hands-free driving. Now I just one too!

I needed something that I could use for directions when the GPS on phone wasn't working. I do damage assessments in areas hit by disasters and sometimes don't get good (or any) internet. The Garmin helps out in those times. I like that I can build a route and not have to go one by one as on phone. Only issue is the duration of battery. But, as long as I've got a car I can keep it charged.

I have used Garmin devices for a long time. My last one has lasted me through 8 hard years of travel. I upgraded to this one because the screen is bigger. The Bluetooth works better. I am able to use the Garmin App on my iPhone and am able to pull up my phone contact list and input my destination straight from the app. This is going to save me a lot of time getting to the places I travel to often without having to take the time to input the address into the device itself. Now if only it were this easy with my personal car...

Easy setup, all the features it advertises are there. Took about 2 hours to update all software/firmware over wifi (I have a good signal in my garage.). Have not viewed a recorded video yet. Lane drift, proximity and "Go ahead" warnings all work. Paired with BT quickly, but that is not a feature I use. Does not come with a manual, but it is easy to get one online at Garmin for a detailed description of all features.

I like it. There's one thing Garmin could improve. The lane depart detection is pretty horrible. It will constantly go off if enabled. It's not a big deal if you don't care to use this feature like me. I just turned it off. Other than that it's a really good GPS/camera.

upgraded from an earlier Garmin and really like the way it has the turn directions, like, turn at the next stop sign, or turn at the next traffic light, and i like the camera on it, overall a good GPS.

This unit is a good GPS unit, providing a lot of real time data while driving. I bought this unit because I wanted to tie this in with a Garmin backup camera, plus needed bluetooth for my LG phone. The back up camera worked as well as bluetooth - all the pther features were a bonus. Just one issue, and it's a big one for me - to get traffic alerts, you must either have a smartphone paired with it, or buy a separate $100 power cable that has a compatible integrated traffic receiver for this unit. The backup camera has another power cable that must be used with the GPS unit to receive the camera image, and it is not compatible for traffic either with this GPS (all statements here have been verified with Garmin tech support). This is advertised as a 'complete solution', a unit with free lifetime traffic and map updates. Not for my situation. I will use the unit for a bit and then make a decision on whether to return it or not.
