Tons of Features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Garmin - DriveAssist 51 LMT-S 5" GPS primarily because it had two features/capabilities that I was seeking: trip planning and an integral dash camera. I need to visit a number of locations throughout my county every so often and I have a limited amount of time to do so. Previously, I had to locate each address on a map and, after plotting them all, figure out the most efficient order for my route to avoid backtracking and wasted time. That was time-consuming and frustrating. The trip organization function allows me to enter addresses at random and then, with a push of a key, put them into the most efficient order for me to visit. YEA!! The high-definition dash camera was something I’d been wanting. It also provides a certain amount of security by automatically saving imagery in the event of an accident/sudden stop. This is a good feature. Other key features are Forward Proximity warning; lane departure warning; changes in speed limit; and “traffic is moving” alert (so you know when the backed up traffic in front of you finally starts moving because you were killing time doing something else in the car). An nice optional add-on is Garmin’s rear view camera (which must be purchased separately). NOTE: You will have to add a micro SD card for additional map and data storage as none is provided. A 4 GB micro SD card is supplied for the dash camera but I recommend you also replace the provided 4 GB video micro SD card with a larger capacity micro SD card to hold more video. (Make sure you get a card that supports video and not a slow data card.) This GPS device accepts micro SD cards between 4 GB and 64 GB. The higher capacity cards provide more storage for your money. It’s going to take you a while to get familiar with all of the features of this GPS (there are many) so be patient. Unless you live in/visit the “big city” there are a number of features you won’t use but that’s OK with me. I also strongly recommend you purchase a carrying case (none is provided) and be sure it protects the camera lens. You’ll also want to buy an AC power adapter so you can charge it and/or load trip information without being in your car. I bought my case and AC adapter from Garmin’s web site because I couldn’t find them at my Best Buy. Also, if you already own another Garmin GPS, you can transfer your favorites to the new GPS via the My Garmin web site. Recommended.

Very easy to set up and understand.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were using the trip setting, the camera and even hooked our phone in to the blue tooth within minutes of hooking it up. We were able to do hands free calling. This was especially an added bonus as we do not have Smart phones was one feature I really wanted and didn't realize this product had it. We went driving around our area which has very spotty cell service, wi-fi etc and found that we had excellent servce. Very pleased and can't wait til next summer to use the maps and the camera on the motorcycle.

Great GPS w/Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great GPS. With all the crazy drivers out there, I wanted a dash cam. This has both a GPS and dash cam in one. The screen is crisp and very clear. It was easy to set up. Connecting the device to the mounting initially took a bit but once we figured it out, it is easy to get on and off. Voice commands are easy in traffic. Camera view when arriving at destination is very helpful in trying to find a house number. When we take a different road than the route shown, it recalculates quickly WITHOUT the voice repeating "RECALCULATING" over and over - nice. Lane assist is updated and show not only generic which lanes to be in but also shows you as your diving what the various lanes do - 1 goes right as another ends, etc. Lane departure assist and forward collision warning can be a little touchy, but it's not too distracting. Like the notifications there is a school ahead, animal crossing, curve, or railroad crossing. Only wish was that it would show both arrive time and distance remaining on the screen at one time. You can choose which appears and can touch the screen to see other info at a glance. We were used to this with our previous Garmins. We've used in on several trips and will definitely keep this one

Great for voice program while driving
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm all over the city and don't have time to read maps. Using the voice command while on the fly is really useful. Occasionally I even use the blue tooth to send an address to the gps from my phone. Too convenient.

Nice Features, Works Well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a backup after returning the RM Overdryve. The voice navigation works very well and it syncs to my phone through the garmin app for live traffic. Steering commands and lane mapping layout give great awareness for turn points. Lane departure assist and forward collision warning are a little touchy, but okay. Camera records on a cycle, and is there if you need to document an incident. I'm keeping this one.

Great all in one product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's great because it's easy to use. The camera is a very smart addition. In case of an accident, it keeps a recording of the incident and when connected to your smartphone, it will send a text message to let your contact know that you've been in an accident. The camera also gives lane departure warnings. It even lets you know when cars are a little too close. The navigation is easy to use and understand.

Very nice combo unit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this as a replacement for another brand. So far, it has been really nice - both the GPS and dash cam. Since I had to travel, I took it along andit really worked well. I'm still getting used to voice command and app to my cell phone features, but they are really nice to have. No complaints so far.

I will get another
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this for my son and daughter who just got their drivers licenses. This is a great unit. 1st-It has voice command so they don't have to touch the GPS. If they want to know where the nearest Sonic is, all they have to do is talk to it. 2nd-it's fast. We've had a couple of older GPS units that took a while to update. 3rd- this one has a dashcam which is AWESOME for me to go back and review their driving habits. Oh and it records sound which is funny to hear how my kids argue. 4th- bluetooth allows them to connect a phone to it and speak through that if you like for hands-free driving. Now I just one too!

GPS Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I have not tried all features the ones I did try are a big improvement over my old Garmin GPS. I didn't have to punch in the entire address it looked it up for me - Time Saver! It has a lifetime of map updates - Money Saver! So far so good!

Love it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed something that I could use for directions when the GPS on phone wasn't working. I do damage assessments in areas hit by disasters and sometimes don't get good (or any) internet. The Garmin helps out in those times. I like that I can build a route and not have to go one by one as on phone. Only issue is the duration of battery. But, as long as I've got a car I can keep it charged.

Time for an Upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Garmin devices for a long time. My last one has lasted me through 8 hard years of travel. I upgraded to this one because the screen is bigger. The Bluetooth works better. I am able to use the Garmin App on my iPhone and am able to pull up my phone contact list and input my destination straight from the app. This is going to save me a lot of time getting to the places I travel to often without having to take the time to input the address into the device itself. Now if only it were this easy with my personal car...
