Minimal set up. It took longer to open all the packaging than it did to go through the very simple initial set up. Easy to program, easy to read, easy to affix/remove from the windscreen. The only thing that's a bit off is the pronunciation of the street names. Eg, Lakeshore, where you would think that the correct pronunciation would be obvious, was read out as le keyshore. That's the reason why I gave it 4 stars, not 5. Come on Garmin, it's not that difficult!!!

I also own an older Garmin 765T that at one time was voted best GPS of the Year. The maps in it are several years old, and that was beginning to cause a problem with finding things in newer built areas. For not much more than the price of an update for the 765T I bought the Garmin Nuvi 52LM. I was instantly pleased with the larger 5" screen over the 4.3" screen on the 765T. There is also a more pleasant graphical appearance to the 52LM especially in "night mode". The colors are better, and overall it is just more updated in the way that it looks. Of course, getting a GPS with lifetime maps like this one is going to save you money for getting future updates which are not cheap. I have had this unit for about 2 months now, and can say it routes very well. It gives more details in landmarks than my 765T, and makes less errors in route choices. I hooked both the 765T, and 52LM to my windshield at the same time to see how they fared against each other. It was unfair to compare the routing as my 765T maps were 3 years old, but even if the maps were the same I would still prefer the 52LM more. Larger screen, better graphics, better night mode, touch sensitivity is better, and I guess best of all is that it has a on/off power button. On my 765T it would always come on, whether you wanted it to or not, when you started your vehicle. This is a nuisance, With the 52LM having it's own power it only comes on only when you want it to. Overall, this is a very good GPS. Highly recommended. If you can get one for less than a 100.00, this is definitely a GPS to consider.

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 52 LM and I am very happy with it. I have used it and it did all that I needed and got me to where I was going with no problem. I would recommend the Garmin to my friends. My brother used it and he loved it and said he wanted one for himself. Thank you.

This GPS is just the perfect size for me and it comes with great features that every driver needs to easily and best navigate unfamiliar places and points of interest. This unit comes with lifetime map updates and other innovative features including touch screen interface, spoken turn-by-turn directions, street names, and lane assist which shows you the proper lane to take for your next turn, merge, or exit.

We had TomTom and I like the Garmin much better. Easy set up and it has lifetime updates. It was simple to figure out all the functions without using a manual. Features I loved: shows your speed and the speed limit, shows written directions, shows actual highway exit signs too!

This new Garmin is much better than my older one. I bought it because of the lifetime updates. I took it to the back woods of Tennessee and Kentucky and it performed flawlessly. I especially like the three dimensional view of upcoming lanes and the lane change arrows. It also doesn't drive you crazy by saying "recalculating" if you change course like the old one did. A great buy for the price.

The lane change feature is great. While driving thru busy traffic in Denver, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas and Amarillo it made things easy to get in the right lane before a last minute change. The other features with volume, auto dimming and updates were great. The option to change the voice and icons for the maps are good.

I really like my new Garmin 52L it is so precise with its directions and I don't have to listen to recalculating anymore. I also like the Exit signs that pop up on the screen. I would definitely recommend this product.

This new model will not say "recalculating" when a turn is missed, it just adjusts the route which is the only way you know about the mistake, kind of miss the "recalculate" message. Otherwise easy to use. Wish that GPS manufacturers would create a route learning feature so that when you custom create a route it will put it into memory, by that I mean turn by turn memory not just destination addresses, just a thought for the future.
