The new Nest Cam (Battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Beyond warranty period, so Google did nothing. Battery stopped charging, no fix possible. Apparently a common problem, do some research, don't buy this product.

Horrible product stay away

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Power cord does NOT come through the mount, actually connects to the camera. Not a very clean look! Also, note that you get a pair of cameras but only one power cable. On the upside, they gave me $20 when I called to ask why I didn’t get a second power cable.

Keeps deleting your data without warning

Warning: If you change your WiFi password, the ONLY way to update your Nest camera is to do a factory reset. And even though that data is in Google's cloud, they delete all your recordings there as well. Fortunately, your Face Library (the library of your recognized faces) is still there. HOWEVER, once your free trial of Nest Aware expires, even if you subscribe immediately, Google deletes not only all your video recordings, but it also deletes your entire Face Library. You're back to square zero. So if you make the mistake of buying this Google Nest product, subscribe IMMEDIATELY to Nest Aware. Don't wait for your free trial to expire, unless you enjoy having the Google cloud delete all your data without notice. What an amateur operation. Previously, I had thought more highly of Google, as a Pixel 6a owner. Never again!

The simplest fix for most Nest products is to update your home network so that the network name (SSID) and password are the same as before. This will usually work even if you’ve purchased a new Wi-Fi router as long as the manufacturer settings are the same.
