Cameras have great video quality and easy to install/setup with your Google account. Access via phone anywhere anytime. You can extend the record hours with a subscription but you can do without it too. Charge last pretty long depending on weather conditions. Great purchase, might get one more!

I’m an existing Nest user with an Outdoor IQ camera and a Hello. The new camera works well with even better quality than the IQ, but honestly I expected slightly better video quality even when set in max than I get. Sometimes it seems a little pixelated. Google also has work to do on their app for the camera. It has some bugs with video playback and usability, but I’m hopeful that they’ll clean that up with time.

Excellent product and very easy to install. I purchased 3 cameras 4 years ago and decided to purchase 2 more. There are lots of options in the market place but Nest Cam is the best in my opinion. Would recommend to anyone.

Video quality is good, sound quality is good biggest issue is that you. can’t get 24/7 surveillance with these even if you run cords to keep them plugged in.

As a long time user of this line of products, I was both impressed and disappointed with my purchase. I think they’ve made some significant improvements in the hardware, including the battery, ease of set up and overall durability. Unfortunately, Google’s newer generation of products is incompatible with the old nest app and requires the use of their newer home app instead. And migrating the old cameras to the new app, they lose some functionality. So you’re either left with inferior software, or using two apps if you want to maximize the utility of a system incorporating both older and newer generations of these cameras. If you are only purchasing the latest hardware, you probably won’t regret it, but for people that have the older cameras and want to incorporate one of these, be aware.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Nest Battery, Phoenicianguy. We understand that there may be a learning curve with the transition from the Nest app to the Google Home app, but we are here to help make that transition as smooth as possible. With the Google Home app you’re able to connect with a wide variety of speakers, cameras, thermostats, lights, and a range of other products, all from one place.

Love this camera. Was so easy to install. It has great quality videos day and night. The charge lasts a long time snd it is placed whrte there is quite a bit of traffic. Highly recommend purchasing the subscription so you can look back at events whenever you want
Hi there, thanks for your feedback. We´re sorry to hear about the poor battery life and hardwiring option for Nest Cam (Battery).
Nest camera battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Users can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios for your Nest Cam (Battery): Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day) Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day) Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
If the battery life of your Nest Cam (Battery) doesn´t meet the recommended battery life above, then it´s important to check the frequency of events (per day) that you get on Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. I’m a little bit disappointed that I can no longer use my nest app to view the video feed on newer nest cams and forced to use google home app. I have a few older gen Nest cameras/doorbell camera so I have to use both google home app and nest app to view the video feeds. It’s very annoying to switch between apps instead of having it in one app and I don’t really like using the google home app to view the cameras.
Hi nate17, we really appreciate you for sharing your feedback with us about the Nest Cam (battery). We can imagine how having to use two different apps can be an inconvenience for you, and we’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy having the option to view the Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority is to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras, like you, can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.
We request for your patience as we’re working on a seamless solution to create a better user experience. Meanwhile, we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app. And if you need help with any concerns about the performance and functionality of the camera, you're always welcome to let us know here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Pluses- Great image quality in daylight as well as night.
Easy to set up and install
Cons- I have 6 of these cameras and when I click on Google home app. They show up but not even close to streaming all of them real time.
My dog will go outside and if looking at outside cameras, might show him for a second but then freezes up or doesn’t show him at all for quite a while.
I should point out I have a 1.1 GB’s per second service and all cameras are within 40 feet.
Would probably go with Ring next time.
Hi there, JCIII. Thanks for sharing your concerns about the Nest Cam (battery). We’re sorry to hear that your experience is below satisfaction. We’ve taken note of your feedback to work on improving our products and services. Meanwhile, we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view. You can change the settings like adjusting video quality, wake-up sensitivity, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.

I ended up getting the front porch ones wired and that was an extra cost to pay an electrician bc I live in an older house. Nice looking, But the battery life is not good.I think I’m going to sell and get a different camera system. I don’t like the fact that they are battery operated and The solar panels don’t really keep them charged in high traffic areas.
Hi there, MashaundaC. Sorry to hear you haven’t the best battery life on the Nest Cam (Battery). The lifespan of the battery will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and selected camera settings. On average here’s how long the battery will last on a single charge:
Busy - About 1 month battery life (about 25 - 30 recorded events per day) Typical - About 2.5 months battery life (about 13 - 16 recorded events per day) Quiet - About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
Here’s a few tips to conserve battery: 1. Optimize its video quality. 2. Shorten the length of time for which events are recorded. 3. Take longer to begin recording between events.
