Better picture, but only use the Google Home app. Nest app is becoming useless. Don't have to worry about buying a subscription with it.

- Automatic security protections, such as Suspicious Activity Detection, 2-Step Verification, and Security Checkup.

It connected to the rest of my smart home with no issues as well.

The notifications keep me informed as people come and go and its great for keeping an eye on my car parked out front.

That's my reason for 4 stars. However, I do know that if the view was wider we'd lose some of that picture quality. Bitter sweet.

We understand that a wider viewing angle would be nicer, however, Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen) comes with a 145° diagonal field of view that should provide enough viewing angles to capture those important moments. And if you would like to get a better view of the scene on your door, you may want to try using the 20° wedge that comes in the box. Somehow I think it’s worse than the original nest hello I replaced which is sad. It disconnects a lot which is very annoying. I’m not sure if it’s the new software or what it’s just not as reliable. Highly annoyed I bought it as a supposed upgrade.

A step down in nearly every single way from the first wired doorbell, particularly build quality. My first gen Nest doorbell lasted approximately 5 years which is awesome. I purchased this one December 1st , 2023 and it was dead 1/14/24. Really disappointing, and made worse poor technical support from google. Basically jerk you around and waste hours of time doing stupid things. I genuinely think their goal is to break you down so you give up. Ontop of that you will be forced to use the google home app (this camera is not compatible with NEST). For those who have used both apps, the difference is night and day. Google home is a mess (no integration with most nest products , extremely limited functionality). I guess the only good thing I can say about this camera is it is cheaper than gen 1, and the video quality is pretty good... because of the horrific hardware and software issues avoid this camera

Also good that I can interact with who ever rings my doorbel or on my front porch. Easy to install! Great product!

We’re sorry to learn it didn’t work with your chime, and that you ran into this concern with the installation after getting the suggested chime. The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has a voltage requirement of 16 to 24 VAC and a power requirement of 10 to 40 VA. You can usually find the system transformer’s voltage information inside the doorbell’s chime box, as well as in or near the breaker or fuse box. If you still have to call someone for help with installation, we suggest reaching out to your retailer. Or you may contact a Nest Pro certified tech to help you with your installation needs.
