Version 1 was better with the Nest name on it.

Nothing works as well as the old Nest, or even the old DROPCAM that they forced me to remove and no longer would function. The 2nd gen will not connect very well to the rest of the network. You can no longer use the nest app for any new Google/Nest devices, and it keeps seeing "people" when there is no one. Never had a problem with old one before it died. I hope Apple gets into the game and starts making their own cameras, locks, and thermostats. This one I've had for a week and infuriated by it. Steer clear of the Google/Nest eco-system.

Killed my doorbell so I had to buy a new one. It hasn't been the same since. Told me it was bc my doorbell was old, it worked perfectly before he installed it, but now not at all.

Does a good job. Battery lasts several weeks easily as long as you are only checking it for people and not every movement detected.

The notifications are not annoying and it works with My other smart home devices easily. Easy to install , Id recommend checking your transmitter to make sure it doesn't need to be upgraded before installing the ringer blew but it was an easy fix. The only negative is that once you update even just your wifi password I had to factory reset my bell and start all over. Losing my history but I was able to save the videos I wanted to keep to my phone.No way to just update the password to connect

Gen 2 even better

When I bought a new house, I decided to install this again. Wow the Gen 2 version was even better. Love the face recognition and animal alert. Definitely recommend

These were sold by Rytek and not Best Buy apparently. They do not have the same return policy and when we needed to exchange an unused and unopened product a few weeks after purchase, were told that Rytek does not allow that. We are now stuck with something that will not work.

Bit frustrated but understand Google likes doing things their way similar to the Fitbit fiasco. The doorbell works and has great image quality despite the incompatibility. If you use Google home or not in the Nest ecosystem, this doorbell is for you.
