    I had the 1st gen google door bell and had more steps to set up but definitely had a better functional operation would detect more motions, would send more alerts this need 2nd gen not worth it the price and the function

    Google Nest Cam products are total garbage. Don't waste your money. Literally NEVER works when we need it, seldom can show live video (despite have 2 different internet services with 3 routers each and FAST bidirectional wifi everywhere in and outside our home). We TOTALLY regret investing in the Nest ecosystem and are planning to remove and purchase a REAL camera system.

    This was my second try with this doorbell. I’ve had issues both times attempting to add it as a connected device within the google home app. This time, I could never get the camera to display. So, unfortunately, due to the glitchiness of this device, I’m unable to use it.

    stopped working after a little over a year. maybe they are trying to incentivize you to buy new model or I just got a lemon. purchased 2 doorbells at same time, both broke at same time.

    From the first gen to this one, the first one is so much better you can move it around, this one just stays put and last it’s not on the nest app anymore its on google home witch is terrible

      Our priority with this launch is to build a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app. And while the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. We suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view.

    Works well, would suggest the google hub as well. Just make sure you have a router that can support these devices. Otherwise they will randomly disconnect if you have to many devices on simultaneously.

    Easy to physically install but even thou I have other Nest cameras the door bell camera wouldn’t connect

    Doesn’t work with old doorbell

    Did not work with the electric circuit in our apartment and we cannot hire an electrician to increase the wattage to support this doorbell camera. Returned to store immediately and waiting for my refund.

    Stuck with this thing

    This is the worst Google/Nest product they make. It’s laggy and has gone offline a dozen or so times in the 6 months I’ve had it. The pulldown notifications don’t actually show the camera and it takes 30-60 seconds for it to load if the doorbell rings at which point the person has left. I like the way it looks and that’s why it’s getting two stars instead of one.

    It is one of the worst purchases that I have spent my money on for a Google product. It randomly turns off and stays off however long it desires. Google support line is also useless. I chose nest over ring because everything I have at home are Google products, thermostat, speaker, phones etc. But this one is definitely waste of money.

      Hi JohnP, we really appreciate your feedback on Nest Doorbell (2nd gen, wired), and it’s unfortunate to hear it randomly turns off.

      While the Nest doorbell can replace most wired doorbells, there are some cases where the doorbell system either doesn’t provide enough power or provides too much power. You should check that your current doorbell can be replaced by the Nest doorbell. And if you’re replacing the old Nest Doorbell (wired) with the 2nd gen doorbell, you’ll need to remove the chime connector that came with it, too. The first gen doorbell connector is not compatible with the 2nd gen doorbell.
