This is an upgrade from the original version. There many noticeable enhancements to the second gen. For instance the body is more flush and sleek looking than the two toned model. The camera can see extremely well, better than the original. What I also like is that the kit includes a wedge adapter so that if you have a doorbell that’s parallel to your door but facing the side, you can get an angle on the camera to face it out better (you can purchase separate wedges that offer more of an angle. The only thing that prevents me from giving this a slightly better rating is the Google Home app. It’s not that great. It can add your new doorbell easily and will guide you through the process but general day to day use, it’s not very intuitive. The old Nest app was way better.

I purchased this for my backdoor and has been exactly what I needed. The install was very easy as the Google Home app has step by step instructions. I also have one on my front door and absolutely love them!

The quality of this doorbell is excellent and it was easy to install. I like the ability to create zones that it will identify packages, and/or people. It works well with our existing chime. It responds quickly when people push the doorbell. My only wish is that it had a little wider range of view

Excellent door bell camera, with all the features you need to keep an eye of your front door, i love the notifications of packages from deliverys, when they arrive N when someone "took the packages"

An easy home upgrade for convenience and security!

Awesome love it. Only thing I'd change is I'd make it a wider angle. I used to have a ring and that was a very nice wide angle. This is very vertical which isn't terrible but I'd prefer wide.

I had previously used Amazon Blink’s video doorbell and it kept disconnecting, It made the constant reconnecting tedious and frustrating. So I decided to replace it with this more expensive Google Nest doorbell. It is a HUGE improvement. Not only does it seamlessly connect to the Google home app, but it recognizes faces I’ve identified in my Google photos app and lets me know who is at the door with push notifications. Pretty epic if you’re into smart home tech. I bought the wired version because I didn’t want to mess with replacing batteries. Downside: This is significantly more expensive than Amazon’s Blink doorbell. Like 3x-4x more expensive. But I think it’s well worth the extra money for the freedom from hassle. Bonus: if you have a smart tv with Google OS, you can view your video feed right on your tv.

This will make my second google doorbell and i think it is great doorbell. It connects to my nest hub and it is so easy to us and when someone rings doorbell it sound threw my other google products.

Very easy, comes eith everything you need UNLESS you have mortar or cement, you will need masonary bits. Also, ensure you have an updated transformer if you intend to make an older style plunger style doorbell.

This product is great, and I highly recommend it to anyone. It’s also a pleasure to use.

I like the new portrait vs. the old horizontal. It is better to see closer to the ground for packages.

Way better than the previous version. The camera y crystal clear. You also get a biger view with this camera. With the iternet you are able to get notifications of who is in the front door in about 3 to 4 seconds.

Works great as a video doorbell, especially with the updated design of the Google Home app. Camera quality is solid and portrait video is great. I really appreciate the preset responses you can give without usingt he microphone.

the Google nest video doorbell is an awesome addition to any house, the video & sound quality are great and it’s super convenient to get motion and doorbell alerts on your phone or Google home devices.

We had a Ring doorbell and it was time to upgrade. This door looks better. The color options are better. The install was easy, but a bit confusing integrating with our doorbell system.

Bought this to replace an original Nest Doorbell that quit working. I was surprised how much bigger this doorbell was than the 1st generation. Hardware installation was very easy and I like using the Home app to view the video. Unfortunately my other NEST products use the NEST app so I do have to switch back & forth between the apps. I really like the wider (taller) field of view over the previous generation. And the picture is much brighter (so bright that is stays in color even at night just from the street lights). Too bad they didn't update the video resolution like many of the competitors are doing. I recommend this doorbell - especially if you have other NEST products. If you don't have any other NEST products, you may want to shop around a bit to see competitors with higher resolution.
