I replaced my first generation Nest device and was really impressed with the quality and upgrades the third generation had to offer.

Purchased the Nest in July but waited until December to install. About two weeks after installation, the unit failed. Thank goodness it happened when both my wife and I were not out of town. Unfortunately, my wife was without heat for most of the day when temperature was below zero. Had someone from our local utility company come out who determined the Nest was not working and they reinstalled our old thermostat. Because I waited too long to install it, I was past Best Buy's timeline for returns, which I understand. I contacted Nest to request a refund or exchange, and they said they could do neither. Less thank six months since it was purchased!!! They said I would need to reinstall it and would need to try to trouble shoot it. That is so ridiculous, especially since we had a professional come to our house to diagnose it. At the least you would expect Nest to ask for it back and send a repaired or replacement unit. So in summary, our Nest failed us at the worst possible time and they won't stand behind their product.

Easy set up! And I've already saved 40$ on my first electric bill. Kind of creepy how it tracks your habits. But it's paying for itself.
