I will recommend this product to family and friends.

Battery stopped working after 5 months. Wouldn’t hold a charge. Called Best Buy- no help. Called Google- ran tests with them for over an hour. Finally agreed to replace the system. Also getting a W5 now error and won’t connect to internet. Trouble is- this is not a quick replacement. Snow storm coming this weekend and Google will not pay for expedited shipping. Looking at having to manually plug in Nest to USB cable to use thermostat every 4-5 hours. Low temps this weekend will be 6-8 degrees. Do not buy this product. Does not have a back up battery like most thermostats and Google won’t even pay for expedited shipping, knowing bitter temperatures are coming this weekend. Horrible company, horrible customer service. Will not be buying Google products ever again.

After getting my Nest, I went through the instructions to begin the setup. After chatting with Nest online extensively they came back and said I needed to have a NestPro install my Nest due to the type of furnace I have. I contacted 3 of them per the Nest site, yet only had 1 respond. Needed to say, the Nest is not yet installed. Sigh. Maybe my house will be Smart soon - but it needs more schooling than anticipated.

Kept restarting continuously during initial installation. Called nest customer service and they suggested to charge the unit with USB cable. It worked fine for few days and then battery charge issue cropped up again. Well I didn't want to charge the thermostat every time using USB cable. So decided to return it and got Ecobee4. Also I was not comfortable with fiddling the Nest dial to select an option. Not sure how someone in nest lab can come up with such idea to select a menu option. Also its not compatible with smartthings and you will have to do circus to get them talking with each other.

I purchased Nest thermostats after visiting my son's home and he explained to me how they work and what their capabilities were.

Great when it works, but I've had to RMA it with Google 3 separate times now over the span of 6 months. I don't think the longevity or build quality is there, and would hesitate to recommend it to anyone that is paying full price. The first time the onboard Wi-Fi chip fried, the second and third time the display started ghosting and looked fuzzy. This fourth replacement is going strong for the better part of 10 months now, so fingers crossed that it doesn't die outside of the warranty window. If you do decide to purchase, check if your state/county/city has a rebate/discount program for smart thermostats! Would normally be a 1-star from me, but given that it's great when not broken, and that Google RMA'd it for now, I gave it 2-stars.

This is a great product to use to conserve electricity.

The Nest thermostat is amazing. Love the way you can control it from any device through the app. Well worth the price.

Not only a Thermostat. It is also quality, tech and fashion.

If you buy into the Google/Nest ecosystem this is a no brainer, however I believe that the better thermostat on the market is the Ecobee 3.

Seems to be working okay still trying to figure out all the special features on it sounds a little easier to use than it really is

I love being able to control my heat with my phone

Google clearly stated on their web site that this would work with a 220-240 volt baseboard heater so I order one, yet once it arrived the installation instructions stated this was for low voltage (24 volt) systems. During a phone call to Google they admitted that according to their web page it should work with the higher voltage (they pulled their web page up while we where on the phone). I was very disappointed and returned the product for the full refund Google offered. The web site has since been corrected. I can only hope that they are working on a version that works with my wiring. Best Buy was very understanding and fantastic to deal with and I would buy this from them again once Google makes one I can use.

Worked for 2 weeks and then got an error message. Pretty limited functionality. Not as customizable as you would expect from Google. For example, can even set the display to always show the temperature. Got an Ecobee instead, which I like much better.

Purchased this as a gift, and the recipient loves it!

I think they took over the thermostat market in a swoop

Not only does it work flawlessly with temperature control, but it has saved me $$$$ on my utility bills. I use to forget to adjust the setting when leaving town, now i can adjust the temp from anywhere in the world.

We have been saving money since we installed the Nest.
