It also seems to only recognize the phone in the house about half the time.

Still it's design is appealing and if it's to be believed it is actually saving me money on my heating bills.

So now I have 2 on separate systems and work ok. Still have issues with charging but at least I have them working my way.

The Nest Learning Thermostat is designed to work even if your home doesn’t have a common (“C”) wire. In some cases, particularly if you have a heating-only or cooling-only system or use a zone controller, a C wire or other power-supply accessory may be necessary.
