    We tried to install but it would not connect to the nest server. We were unable to reach nest and Best Buy return policy will not allow for a return.

    It worked well for about 2 months, then it gave an error code where it no longer received power from the base. Now my house is freezing.

    Save your money. Their RD dept needs a new leader. Needs an external power source, unclearly labeled. Tech support is very untruthful in helping you. Not worth the hassle or the $249 PRICE!

    Always an issue with Nest

    It didn't work. First I paid to have it installed then I had to have another person come out to remove it. Total waste of time and money.

    If I could give zero I would. Not a product problem but it never was installed so no way to rate it.

    What a piece of crap. Just quit working. Kept dropping connection. Will not select things. Awesome I can’t wait to buy another one.

    Did what it was suppost to for a year. then the wifi went out on it. stilled worked as a thermostat. now a year and a half in the thing resets itself over and over.

    FABULOUS BUILD QUALITY WITH EASE OF USE

    Here is what I did... I purchased this NEST 3rd Gen unit, then a Eco-Bee Smart and finally a Honeywell. The three thermostats were all carefully reviewed online and in person. Placed on the wall for cosmetic appearance and I downloaded the apps for each. The Eco-Bee was a great contender with a great app (better than the NEST app) but Eco-Bee didn't have the build quality that NEST had and Eco-Bee required that I attach the unit to the wall with this rather large backplate. In plastic white (they said I could pint it). The Honeywell had a miserable app and the wired connections were marked so poorly for install that I lost interest quickly. Honeywell had apparently sold the division to a Mexico-based firm (I'm not certain though). The NEST is heavier than the Eco-Bee and Honeywell. The NEST app is very good for the install aspect but just average for the general daily or weekly use factor. Install took minutes and it quickly linked to the wi-fi system here at home. I also added the optional sensor that I also connected with the app and placed it in the bedroom. It was an immediate pleasure to use both the actual dial on the NEST and just as easy to use the NEST with my iPhone app. Simple, very user-friendly and there was never a reason to call customer service as it was a breeze to install and learn. Really worth a special note here is how large the NEST unit display is. No getting your glasses or not being able to see it at night. It's display beat out every other thermostat I looked at. A solid 5 stars. Zero complaints. A generous warranty.

    Installed Nest thermostat. It will not connect to home Wi-Fi. Called Best Buy Tech Support. Never called back.

      Nest thermostats connectivity issues are sometimes related to power issues,which may occur when your system wires can't deliver enough power to keep the thermostats charged up. As a result, they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wi-Fi and sometimes cause the battery to drain faster. Your Nest thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged. If the power to your system is switched off or there’s a blackout, the battery has enough capacity to keep working for a while but will eventually run out. Your thermostat will also turn off features like Wi-Fi to preserve battery life before it must turn off completely.

    Temperatures are way off. Have to control it manually. Not intuitive. I think they should work more on the temperature differences between outside and inside temperatures.

    Has a 2 year warranty and broke after 2 years and 1 month. The nest app is clunky and setting a schedule is so difficult.

    I used the online wiring help and was sent a wireing diagram from Nest. When it was hooked up it would not start into the programing mode needed to use the thermostat.

    It doesn't work, it's just working to be announcing Alexa's system. It forces you to open accounts.

    I am a software engineer and like to play with gadgets. I've been using it the past winter and I'm impressed with the device. It just works. It is easy to install, just followed the instructions. Love the scheduling configuration though it could be a little more intuitive. Best feature is being able to control the thermostat from phone/website. One feature I wish they add is to always show the clock and current temperature. Looking forward to buy another one for my basement this year.

    Probably would have been ok but could not find an electrician to install. Tried contacting nest 3x after none of their recommendations worked out. Return to store.

    If you think a smart thermostat should have a hold function you will be surprised to know there is no easy way to just set the temperature on the Nest

      There currently isn't a hold feature on the Nest but we'll be happy to send this up as a suggestion on your behalf. You can manually change the temperature from the Nest or from the app and the set temperature would only change if a schedule is in place or if you leave the home and the Nest goes into Eco mode. Nest
