Google Nest is a festering pile of crap. You've be warned. ecobee3 Lite with remote sensors works well. Don't make this mistake. The Nest is unreliable and keeps the house too warm or too cool because it has a 1.1°F degree swing. That means if you set it to 75°F, the AC will not come on until it over 76°F and will not turn off until it's under 74°F. This is not adjustable because Google refuses to listen to customer complaints. The learning features are horrible and had to be turned off because it was always too hot or too cold. There is no hold function - that's right - no hold temperature whatsoever! Why? Because F you, that's why. Nest controls you - not the other way around. It's specifically designed to save energy by making you uncomfortable - seriously. Nest also constantly bugs you to join there Nest Renew program (which has the ability to turn your AC off if the local utility says so). There is no way stop these nags on your app! The most serious issue is reliability. Our Nest has broken three times over the years, resulting in NO air conditioning during the summer in Florida. Don't buy this product - you'll be sorry. Try the Ecobee or Honeywell. In summary, if you think your thermostat can save the planet and you don't mind indulging that fantasy while being uncomfortable in your own home, by all means get the Nest.

Very quickly learned my schedule and began to set "Auto Away" while I was at work. First two months of reports from the app and my electric bill agree - this thing is saving me money. In fact - at this rate, it will have paid for itself before summer is over. Easy to setup, easy to install. I would highly recommend!

I love this thermostat. I just purchased a house and one of the 1st things I changed was the thermostat and I couldn't be happier. Just the though of being in the bedroom upstairs and not having to go down to change the temp or turn it on or off is wonderful feeling. I also use the schedule feature a lot as the temp over night drops and I like to wake up to a nice warm house. I am being told that I need to separate my boiler into two zone and if that's the case I would need another thermostat and I will definitely get the same one. One of the questions I had before purchasing this is if it would work with a conventional boiler with a hot water heater, YES it does!

The Nest thermostat is very user friendly and was super easy to install. I would recommend without hesitation.

I have been really impressed with how easy it was to install and set up and be able to control settings from either my phone or the computer. Highly recommend this product.

Quite misleading on setup. Accidentally set it up as a dual fuel with my heat pump. Found my error and fixed it quickly before any damage. Wired the w2 aux to w1.. Heat pump balance and nest sense doesn't show if wired wrong. Just be careful and know if you have a dual or single fuel system. Heat pump with electric aux heat is actually a single source heat.

I travel a lot for work and this has allowed me to save so much money and be energy efficient! Set up is easy and I was able to install myself. The app is great and I love being able to set the temperature I want before I get home.

Updated on 06Dec16 --------------------------------- In mid-November 2016, Nest updated it's software to create a new "eco" mode. I can no longer set my Nest to "away" and rely on it to stay away. No matter what I do, my Nest Protects pick up my cats' motion and turn my Nest thermostat back to home mode. This in turn ruins the energy efficiency benefits of the Nest and reverses the very reason I purchased this product in the first place. This was a HUGE mistake that may end up costing Nest a customer if they can't fix the software. This update broke all my integrations with the rest of my smart home and has caused me a lot of frustration. I want Nest to do what it did before the "improvement." When I set Nest away, I want it to use Eco temperatures and stay away until I, or one of my smart home integrations, change it back to home. Then I want it to run on the schedule it developed. I've spent 2-3 weeks discussing this issue with Nest support and have tried everything they recommended. My settings are correct for what I want to do. I want to keep Nest as part of my smart home, but having to go into the Nest app and change my mode to Eco on top of setting the rest of my home to away is a pain in the butt. Y'all want your 5 star review back? Fix this problem or reverse the software to the version that worked until you can get the new software working properly! Original Review ------------------------- I was skeptical about Nest's claims of energy efficiency when I bought the unit. However, ended up I deciding to give it a try because my energy company was giving a rebate. I'm so glad that I did! First off, I was surprised by how easy it was to install the unit. Not many people seem to know that Nest's customer support will send you customized wiring instructions if you send them a picture of your current thermostat's wires. After that, it was a matter of a screw driver and about 20 mins of work. I immediately started seeing energy savings that translated to an average of $50 off my monthly electricity bill. So far, I've managed to save a total of 1625 kWh of energy in the 3.5 months since I installed the unit. Even better, with the rebate the unit has already paid itself off! No regrets!

Great to help save on your electric and gas bill. The awesome thing is you can control it feom your smart phones. Great product!

Loved this at first but then I stopped working and I had to go and get a new one.
