Way better than Ring but having issues with the device disconnecting from Google Home constantly
Hi MichaelS. Thanks for bringing the connectivity issue between your Nest Doorbell and the Google Home app to our attention. Here are a few things you can try: Update the Google Home app: Make sure you've got the latest version. Check your Wi-Fi: A strong, stable Wi-Fi signal is key. Wireless interference: Look for any devices that might be causing trouble. Restart your doorbell: Sometimes a simple restart can help with the connectivity performance.

the face and package detection is very helpful, wish the unit wasnt so large but i guess it is necessary due to the battery size. unit does not record 24/7 but only on activity and does not integrate with the older nest app which is fine by me since i knew that going in
Hi Chris, thanks for posting a review. We’re glad to hear that you find Nest Doorbell (battery) great, and we do apologize for some battery issues you’re experiencing.
Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios: - Busy - About 1 month battery life (about 25 - 30 recorded events per day) - Typical - About 2.5 months battery life (about 13 - 16 recorded events per day) - Quiet - About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
If you’re willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Doorbell (Battery). If the short battery life isn’t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your Nest Doorbell (Battery) and understand what may be causing it. I absolutely love this product. Two way communication and customization of alerts is exactly what I needed. Being able to observe the camera from all the devices makes it that much sweeter. Set up was a breeze as well. One thing, the only way to allow my partner to use it I had to set it with my email and password. Should be able to have family log in options too.

I had an older hard wired nest doorbell that just quit working one day. As soon as this one came out I was on it. My only frustration is I had to switch my account to a google account for it to work, and now my nest thermostat won't work with alexa. These companies need to work on getting items to work together. Other than that, it seems to work well.

Sets up was easy, installation was a breeze and it is very functional. I’ve had the ring doorbell and cameras for years, recently switched to google cameras to go with the hub so I can watch a livestream of my puppies. Decided to try the google doorbell since they came out with the battery operated and I enjoy it.
I’m not sure why so many are upset about the app only allowing through home, home shows all of my stuff in one place and is easy to use.
I would recommend. Design of the unit is nice as well, a tad modern but overall looks good on my home.

This camera has great video and audio quality along with being able to connect to a google nest making it so much more compatible with my home. Its easy to want to cheap out and want to aim for the blink or ring. But why waste the trouble in trying to buy a product that needs more sodtware to install for something you already use daily as of google.

Install was super easy and took no time. I hard wired it so no need for charging. I had to enable the chime in settings for it to work with existing chime which wasn't stated in instructions but pretty intuitive to look for that option. I already had Google home app and display and everything synced up seamlessly. I had notifications enabled on my wife and I phone and works like a charm. I was able to edit the viewing area notifications to eliminate vehicles and sidewalk. So far very pleased with purchase.

Highly recommend this product tif you have any google hub products with the screens. Makes it very convenient to see who's at your door thought the house. And the service fee is great if you have any other of their security cameras. Upgraded from the original doorbell and wired due to some challenges. While charging can become tedious its not that bad and they last a fair amount of time. I have to charge the one with the most amount of traffic the most.
