Campaign is good fun, a bit on the shorter side but due to its replayability I'd consider it to be a bit longer than halo 4. 15 official missions. (12 game play, 3 walk and talk) large emphasis on the other team, thankfully buck and vales spartan chatter + mystery characters dialogue make it an instant treat. It's just like halo 2 and how everyone was unhappy about the ending and the campaign despite it still being good. Halo 2s campaign is only slightly better in some aspects. Multiplayer is solid fun. Despite some minor quirks its still the best shooter on the Xbox one. With more content coming its safe to say this will be at the top of the charts for years. TL,DR: Buy it, it is a fun solid shooter, it brings the halo back to halo.

After halo 3 the series took a dramatic change in game play and online match making. With feature like sprint ect rewarding teams for dominating map control seemed obsolete. Especially now since maps tend to be bigger rather than symmetrical a player who fights for map control is irrelevant due to opponents sprinting away. H5 seems better than H4 and the god awful Reach, but lacks the feel of a Halo game. Halo3 was the last online matchmaking competitive game released.

I was extremely against the franchise's decision to remove split screen from the game, but they did give you something in return. This is one of the most complete Halo games in the series. Warzone is a great new addition, the req system makes multiplayer a bit more intense, and the graphics look better than ever. There are new ways to play, new moves and strikes, and the story continues to pull you in. The subtraction of the split screen for me is the main reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I'll never be able to have those Halo tournaments in my own home and that's a real bummer. I understand the change, but still would have wished there was another to help the co-op remain what it was. I've thoroughly enjoyed the game and feel as if the franchise is alive and well. You won't be disappointed with purchasing this game at all.

Halo 5 didn't disappoint with amazing graphics, new controls and a beautiful story line. The multiplayer modes are new and interesting and offer some really cool options to players in fire teams with friends. Only two complaints: 1 - For the first time ever Halo does not allow split screen play. It's unavailable in both campaign and multiplayer. I just spent the last several months playing through the campaigns of Halo 1-4 with my son, split screen co-op and he was heart broken when we realized we couldn't continue the same with Halo 5. Passing the controller back and forth every 10 minutes just isn't the same. 2 - The campaign was great but ended abruptly and didn't resolve enough of the story line. It's very heavy handidly setting up for a sequel.

After what I considered the lackluster Halo 4, Halo 5 delivers in all areas. Game runs at a smooth 60 fps due to the developers unfortunately sacrificing split screen co-op. Story and gameplay enjoyable all around. Controls feel closer to CoD due to new movement and control features, but they are customizable to a control scheme that is more akin to previous Halo games. All in all, story and gameplay were enjoyable and there are lots of collectibles and achievements to warrant multiple playthroughs. Campaign ends on a bit of a cliffhanger but sets series up for the next game. For an enjoyable game with smooth controls and a cinematic gaming experience, I would highly recommend this game.

Halo 5: Guardians is a great game. The graphics are great on the xBox One. Levels are beautiful, both in multiplayer and campaign, and of course as always, the music and sound effects are some of the best in gaming. I definitely love it the campaign, but won't deny there are problems. The campaign was shorter than I had anticipated, and there were about 3 campaign levels where all you did was walk around talking to 2 or 3 individuals. These levels really seemed out of place and a waste of time to be honest. The characters were all enjoyable and fantastic, albeit a few could have used a little more development, specifically Fire Team Osiris, but I suppose there's always Halo 6 for that, hopefully. The rest of the levels were great, large with plenty of ways to approach the frequent large and intense firefights. Fighting as part of a Spartan squad instead of a lone gunman was extremely enjoyable, and the friendly AI was superb. It may leave a little to be desired, but the campaign is most definitely solid and enjoyable. The multiplayer, unlike the campaign, is rejoiced by all, and for good reason. It's the best the franchise has ever had, yes even better than Halo 2. The level designs are really well done, and for the first time it feels like every gun is useful. The thrust boost and the clambering on edges are new, but when using them it feels like they've always existed and adds a lot more depth to the fights and navigation. The two new modes, Breakout and Warzone, are hands down the best parts of the multiplayer. Breakout is fast-paced and easy to play over and over for hours. Warzone is the evolution of Big Team Battle and it's amazing. There's a multitude of ways to help your team, go around killing the enemy, defending your bases, capturing the enemy bases or hunting down and eliminating the AI bosses for points. The REQ system is handled well, and adds some real strategy to playing. Do you rush weapons for an early advantage or save up to get a hefty vehicle later? Both have their advantages and disadvantages. All said and done, Halo 5: Guardians is a fantastic game that does not disappoint. Unlike Halo 4, I definitely see Halo 5 having a long life, thanks to the excellent combat, new modes, and the knowledge of all upcoming DLC maps for free. If your a Halo fan of any degree, or just an all-around FPS gamer, definitely make sure to pick up Halo 5: Guardians. You won't regret it.

This game is one of the most refined first person shooters I have played this year, aside from Destiny. The only reason I give it a 4/5 is because of the exclusion of split screen. One of my favorite features of past halo games was split screen because I could play alongside my girlfriend, nephew, or friends whenever they came over. It was a huge disappointment when I read that split screen wasn't going to be included. Other than that, the online multiplayer is fantastic and so much fun! The graphics are great. The sound effects and music are very well done. The gameplay is everything you'd expect from a halo game. Fast, responsive, and just an overall blast! The new movements and functions Spartans have in this sequel are definitely a huge improvement. In past games I never got the full sense that Spartans are these faster, stronger super soldiers because they had moves that any other soldier would seem to have. Besides a higher jump, I didn't feel the Spartan was much different from other soldiers. Now you can slide, smash through walls (not all, but specific destructible ones) glide while shooting, shoulder charge, ground pound (my favorite), and quick boost an any direction. The story is very well written and even though you don't spend as much time in the Master Chief's boots this time around, the new protagonist, Spartan Locke, and his team are a welcome addition.

I've played all previous Halo games and, for the most part, I've been able to follow along with the campaign story with no problems. Halo 5's story seems much more convoluted and appears to build on events that may have happened in Halo novels and animated shows. If you're not fully invested in the Halo universe, you may have a hard time understanding all of the characters and events in this game. If you're expecting a healthy dose of Master Chief action, you'll be sorely disappointed --- you only play a handful of short missions as the Chief himself. Story aside, gameplay itself is still loads of fun, especially multiplayer modes. 343 Industries has introduced a variety of new weapons and suit upgrades that do just enough to create a fresh experience. Graphics are sharp, but I can't say I see much of an improvement over Halo 4. The recently-released Gears of War Ultimate Edition looks much better than Halo 5, in my opinion, and that was a remaster of a 10-year-old game. The lack of split-screen is also notable, but this appears to be an unfortunate trend with most modern video games. Halo 5 is good, but don't approach it expecting anything earth-shattering from the story or campaign. The game's longevity will be in its multiplayer mode, which should provide hours of entertainment.

While it is unfortunate that the series no longer supports split-screen play, Halo 5 presents the absolute best multiplayer option available today. With 4-player online Campaign (co-operative story), 8-player online Arena (competitive, player vs. player), and 24-player online Warzone (player vs. player and player vs. enemy hybrid), you can't go wrong. Most importantly, it is just a joy to play. It's so fun, in fact, that I have had trouble putting it down. Whatever mode you play, this game pulls you in. Single-player story mode is also available for those who prefer to play on their own. Great purchase overall, and I recommend it to everyone.

Halo has come a long way since its bungie days. Gone are the insanity of dual wielding weapons, and a closer step to real FPS. Weapons have scope mode like in Call of Duty games. The weapons are less intense and a burst shot results in a kill. Enemies are much smarter than before, but teammate A.I.'s are just as smart and responsive. Definitely a fun game and worth a buy! The story carries on from Halo 4 nicely and its cliff hanger ending appears to signal an intense Halo 6 game to finish off 343 Industries' Halo trilogy. The game has a great amount of time spent on sound (effects and music) and HD gameplay is fantastic.
