in A/C mode this unit goes weeks before having to empty the water collection tank. Powerful cooling, like all similar units it makes noise since it is inside. The exhaust vent can be challenging to make work in a non standard window but the accordion tube can be reshaped a million ways to take away any directional torque from where it connects to the vent panel, this helps it from not wanting to pull out if you re-point the unit.

We only decided on the Honeywell after reading the many positive reviews other units like LG did NOT have. Don't need A/C all the time in the NE but is great to have for the couple months it gets humid and hot. Any one of these units might take some McGivering to get the exhaust vented out of non-standard windows so for some having a professionally installed window unit might be the choice but this 1200 btu unit is basically as good as two of those smaller window units. Simple to operate, only need to empty it every 3-4 days, no dribble on our wood floors. very happy.

I use window AC's, I wanted one portable for my house to use in rooms without window units. I also wanted it to use away from my home. I have AC wherever I am! It was easy to set up, is very flexible to use, and performs. I bought the 12,000 BTU model. I also bought a new 12,000 window unit for my living room. Instead of installing it I used this portable unit for over a month. Finally put in the window unit, they both worked well alone. If you want flexibility and don't want to keep lifting window units try this model. I would like to see them provide a little more mounting hardware to fit casement windows and to keep the exhaust unit snug in the window. I bought foam tubes for insulating pipes and used that to mount the exhaust piece. Worked well.

Purchased this model as my options were limited to items in stock. It was larger than what I needed but it was easy to install and it cooled the room well. Quiet and efficient but 4 stars simply because it is just larger and heavier than what I really wanted and needed.

I love this product. I would not be able to survive the summers in the San Fernando Valley without it. I have it in my converted garage. Does a great job cooling the room. The timer setting is very useful. Product looks very sleek and modern. Some people don't even know what it is when they walk in. Negatives: - the display lights are pretty bright and annoy me at night. - not as quiet as I would like. I have to turn my tv up when it's on and I don't prefer sleeping with it on. I was able to get a on/off switch from my home alarm provider (TWC) so now I can turn it on and off via my Android app. Very cool!

I bought this two and half years ago because the central AC didn’t work. Now that I’ve moved it makes a great backup unit when the AC is on the fritz. Keep the bedroom cold and although it’s a little noisier than I’d prefer I’ve heard much worse. Beats a window unit because I can move it around and loan it out to people who need it. Still works to this day even after sitting in the shed for months at a time. Removed one star because it’s a little tedious to keep perfectly clean (call me OCD).

After purchasing and returning another portable AC unit, I purchased this unit. It was more expensive but so far I'm very pleased with it. It looks nicer than a lot of other units I've seen and it works great. It comes with a remote so you don't have to get up in the middle of the night to turn it up/down. It is a bit noisy but I don't mind the white noise while I'm sleeping. The filter has to be cleaned every few weeks but that is easy. It also has to be drained every so often but I have yet to try that so we'll see how that goes. The installation was fairly simple; the connector tube is a bit sensitive and falls out somewhat easily and the window coverings look a bit cheap but they are covered by a curtain in my bedroom so I don't mind. All in all, it does a great job of cooling down a room and I'm happy with it.

This unit replaced my window unit that was unacceptable with my HOA. I had heard that the portable units were generally noisy and weren't as efficient as the window units. Not so! With the fan on low, this unit cools down my large master bedroom quickly and efficiently. It's lightweight and easy to move. I still haven't had to drain the water. installation was super simple, but I would buy insulating material.

This unit is easy to set up and works great. I started using it during high humidity conditions, so I built a stand for it right away, and set it up to drain into a pan I slid under the stand to catch water build up out of the drain I removed the cap from. I have had several portable units before this one and, in high humidity conditions, having to drain the unit, quite frequently, was a very annoying issue. This drain setup is much more convenient.. The drain issue is the only reason for a 4 out of 5 star rating.

Make sure you close all the air or heat coming in from outside and this ac will cool your room in no time. Very user friendly and easy to install. Not made for sliding doors but I did use it on a sliding door and was creative in closing the rest of the areas not covered with the provided plastic pieces. If you're creative you can make it work, I did. It's on wheels and the outside hose is long, easy to move around the room, power cord also long.

I greatly appreciate the easy portability of this unit. While it does get very cold, it covers less space than I had thought it would. It is also fairly noisy and a bit expensive. But nonetheless, I am happy with the purchase.

We installed this in our master bedroom on the upper floor--faces west and gets the hot late afternoon sun. We have central AC but after a hot day a little extra cooling boost is needed. The Honeywell works great. We turn it on about 8:00/8:30pm and let it run until 9:30/10:00pm--usually about 90 minutes. We haven't had a days-long heat wave to content with so far this summer (2014), but we would keep it on all night if we needed to. We could tolerate with the AC noise level--and we are somewhat noise sensitive people. Cools the master bedroom very well. Note: We have the 14,000 BTU model in our art studio (a room without AC) and the unit works fine. It was easy to install. The only issue is that the window fit could be better. We bought duck tape to seal the fitting. Also--and this is a general comment more than a negative on this particular Honeywell--I am always looking for a quiet running machine. This is quiet for an AC but I wish the manufacturers would come out with a whisper quiet one--perhaps one with a super low fan setting.

I was a little skeptical as I've never had a portable AC unit before but this one does a great job. Cools my master bedroom pretty quickly. I have it running right now, it's 82 degrees out and this machine has my room at a nice 68 degrees. It's not any more noisy than I expected but it's definitely not silent. The window kit it comes with is the only downside. it's kinda flimsy. Aside from that I would seriously recommend this product.

As expected and alluded to in many of the portable ac reviews, if you want a cold room, then don't bother. Hovever, it does cool and more importantly takes the humidity out of the air. I haven't had to drain the water. Easy setup, bigger than I expected, a little noisier than the window ac. I just can't lift an ac anymore.

Easy to assemble, simple remote control, not much fuss. Immediately produces cold air. My only complaint is I wish it were easier to move around the house. The wheels are too small making it difficult to move this on carpet and there are no handles to grip.

I got this fabulous a portable air conditioner a few weeks ago! I was worried about moving it from room to room but OMG it is so easy. It is a little noisy but if u grew up with window ones it should not be a problem....Really I will never get a window one ever again because when u get this one u don't need to get one for every room. Best purchase in years !!!!!

The unit is very quiet and easy to set up. It has a very user friendly display and remote control. It blows very cold air, but I find that it is unable to cool my garage in the heat of summer. My garage is 400 sq feet and not insulated so it may work better in a small room. It is able to cool the room down by 5 degrees at best. Overall, I would say it is a good unit, but a little too expensive for what you end up getting.
